The neighbor

Harris, Venix pack I hurried into my small office and picked up the phone with a look of displeasure on my face. "Yes, sir?" "I haven't heard for a while from you, little rabbit. I want you to report." I tensed like always when he calls me like that. "Everything is going according to our plan. I just need more time." "It's a luxury we don't have. I chose you because I thought you'd be able to do the job the fastest." "Sir..." "I want to know what have you done so far?" "I...organized a small group of Gideon's pack to come to my territory on the pretext that I need help with..." "What? I don't understand. Why the Hell are you doing that?" I grabbed the phone harder. "I thought it would be a good idea to have his people here, to get to know them...and maybe choose someone for your friends…as a gift?" "Remove the last thought of your mind. You don't think Gideon will notice if one of his pack members is missing? But the other idea isn't so bad. Leave that to Marno. He's good at these things." "Yes, sir!" "What else?" "I put a mole there. He's close to the management." "And? Anything important?" "No, except that the rogues' attacks have increased and Gideon has stopped accepting new members for now." "I put a mole there too." "It was my job to..." "If I wait on you, I'll turn 400 years before I see a result. You don't mind him. You do your job and don't think about him. And Harris? I want to see real results. If I don't see any results soon, I'd think about someone to replace you." "I'm the best one you'll have. I'm the best friend of Levon and Gideon's neighbor. You think I don't know why you're telling me this? Don't worry, I'll do my job perfectly!" "That's the spirit. But remember, no one is irreplaceable, so you better hurry!" He ended the conversation and I slammed down the phone. Sometimes I hated him. I went to the bar because the conversation made me so nervous that I needed something to drink. Opening the doors and seeing the contents inside, I wanted to close them with a bang again. Marno had again filled it with the nasty bottles of his priceless blood. Damn, I hate my life. Marno was my Beta. Or should I say my fake Beta. He was actually a vampire but with the right amount of magic, he could easily hide the signs of his nature. With the same technique, magic has blocked my ability to transform for years. I've never met my wolf and I was sure he didn't exist anymore. I was abducted from my family at an early age, I don't even know when exactly. I had just a vague memory of my family and pack. Life as a vampire slave was horrible, and over the years I realized that if I wanted to have a chance to live differently, I had to convince them that I could be useful to them. My boss found out I was from a pack next to Levon's family and figured we may know each other. So he bought a territory for me, not very big, created a pack of rogues, slaves, and his trusted werewolves. Put one of his most important subordinates, the vampire Marno, for Beta of the pack. We were a pack of 150 members. That's how his plan was made. I had to renew my relationship with Levon and it turned out that we played together, that our families were close and he remembers me. When Levon became King and Gideon was sent in a territory next to mine, this was like a sign of the Goddess. I've never become close with Gideon. But I was his neighbor and back then my pack was bigger than his. I had only grown wolves who had not yet started families and were able to protect the pack. While Gideon's pack numbered 100 members, some of which were families - females and children. My boss made an attack and my job was to help Gideon. It felt good to look at the royal wolf from above. I saved him and his pack. My territory was bigger, although not that much. And my pack members were more. I'll admit I was acting arrogantly. I'll keep hinting that he needs help that he can't handle. That it is better to turn to his father. Then they sent a female to mate with him and it turned out that she was his destined mate. He was acting like a pup that was crazy in love. And I started with the taunts again. It was obvious that his mate, Eloise, did not like the life he gave her. After the crazy vampire attack that came out of nowhere, his mate was captured and I thought he would give up. I expected him to turn his tail and return to his father with a request to help him save Eloise. But no. He was a stubborn son of a b***h and decided he would do that by himself. For one year he tripled his territory and pack members. He looked nothing like his previous self. But that year cost him his mate. Now he was the arrogant jackass, who ignored me and behaved as if he were communicating with a cockroach. But that just made me do my job with no regrets. I'll be happy when he loses everything again, knowing that I was part of the process. My whole life I was treated like an insect. But I'll make everyone who humiliated me pay for my pain. Ivi, West Mount pack I prepared and waited impatiently for the time to come. Loren once mentioned to me that Gideon never finishes work before 8 pm, so I waited for it to be at least that long and headed to his house. Emery was fast and we were almost there when shadows in the distance caught my eye. Emery perked her ears but they were too far away to hear anything. I tried to see who they were, but the trees hid the face of one, and the other had his back to us. My curiosity overcame me and I waited. Just as I was about to give up, the other moved slightly and I saw his face. It was Dev. As I kept watching, Dev and her mysterious companion started to kiss each other and I finally realized that it was a date. Emery ran again and in a minute we were in front of Gideon's house.
