108. Javier I was angry and I was seething and it was taking me all the patience I had cultivated all along to make sure that I didn't jump Athena then and there. I wanted her dead. But before that, I wanted her to suffer a pain that she would even be afraid to be reborn. The council chamber felt stifling, the air thick with tension and unspoken accusations. Elder Bernard’s sharp gaze shifted to my uncle, who had remained unnervingly silent, a smug calm exuding from his posture. I hated that he was unreadable because there was only one face whenever I had seen him whether at a wedding, a funeral and now here: cold and unfeeling.
