Issac age 10
Finally this year is going to be a breeze. I turn eleven in a few weeks and I can finally talk to Courtney god I’ve missed her, I made one stupid mistake that cost our friendship one I won’t be making again. It’s the first day of school we’re now in year six and next year we’ll be heading to Savoy high. Erh I’m so not looking forward to it cause they’ll be there, the bad boy squad. I know Courtney is friends with Bryce and a little birdie tells me they’ve been spending a lot of time together in the holidays, not anymore he can find another girl to dote on. He’ll have plenty once he gets to high school with his physique he’ll soon forget Courtney well let’s hope so.
I missed hanging with Courtney in school and in the holidays she’s like a breath of fresh air. Yes, we made it up. She was no longer mad at me but we chose to keep our distance because of her brother and Bryce. We gave each other side glances and smiled unnoticed to everyone else.
“Issac.” Some i***t said, snapping their fingers in front of me. I looked angrily at the i***t that took me out of my thoughts to see Theo and Jayden with their eyebrows scrunched. “Oh hey guys.”
“So what were you thinking about dude?”
“Not much.”
“You’re thinking about her aren’t you?”
“Who?”
“Cortney der.”
“I…” I stopped in mid sentence as I saw her walking down the corridor. And holy crap she’d changed over the summer.
“What’s up dude?”
I pointed.
They turned around. “Holy hell is that who I think it is?”
“It Courtney Jay you can tell her a mile off.”
“But she looks…”
“Different.”
He nodded.
“She looks the same as she had before she's just had her hair done and what’s that damn she’s wearing specs she never wore those before, did she?” Theo asked, confused.
“No I don’t think so, I know Simone said she’d changed through the holidays. I wasn't expecting this.”
They nodded they hadn’t seen much of Courtney either. We'd all been hanging together since I wasn't allowed to hang or go anywhere near her. We chose to do what we usually did; skate boards, skate, play basketball and do general boy stuff.
She looked over at us and us and smiled. God she even smiled like an Angel this year was going to be hard, the next even harder when we got to high school.
She made her way over to us hugging us unexpectedly we hugged her back Jayden and Theo looked as surprised as us that she hugged us we hadn’t seen us for six whole weeks.
“Hey guys, how was your hols?”
“Good yours?”
“Great, though I missed hanging around with you guys.’
Blame your brother. I muttered so low no one could hear.
“So did we. Isaac never shut the he’ll up about you.”
“Hey.”
She smiled shyly.
“So.” I coughed.
She looked at questionably.
“The glasses.”
“Oh, these. I had them in the hols they recommended that I wore them for my vision to get better seen as I have been having a lot of headaches since everything and I was finding it hard to see anything in front of me.”
‘They look good on you.’
‘Thanks.”
“There you are. I thought we were meeting at the gate?”
She turned and smiled “I’m sorry, I was early so I thought I’d head in and I saw the guys and thought I’d take the time to catch up whilst waiting.”
“It okay.”
Simone looked at all of us. “I hope this year will be different. Issac.” She said, staring at me.
“It will be, I swear.”
“Good we don’t want a repeat of the last one do we?”
‘No we don't.’
“It’s okay sim we sorted it out before we even ended school for the six weeks hols.”
“It’s better to be safe than sorry.”
She nodded. “Where’s the girls?”
“Oh they won’t be back until next week. They’ve gone on hols, again.”
“Oh.”
Nothing new there, their parents were always jetting off and making them go with them. They won’t be able to do it once we get to high school it won’t be allowed.
The bell rang.
“Let’s go.”
We all headed inside, Courtney looked at me and whispered. “I’m looking forward to this year.”
“And why’s that kitten?” I asked, smiling.
“Because we can hang together again.”
My smile grew wider. I couldn’t wait for that either.
Courtney
I woke up early this morning. I decided to change my hairstyle around two weeks ago. Simone said it was a good decision. I wanted to change my whole appearance but I think that will be a little too drastic right now maybe once I’m in high school or when I leave. No one knows the real me; they've only seen the sweet and innocent side. And they continue to see it until I’m ready to show my true self.
My brother and Bryce have been complete jerks all holidays even though Issac saved my life they still refuse for me to be friends with him, not any more they don’t own me nor rule me. I only listen to mom's rules, not because what she says goes.
I walked into the lounge where Tucker is already up and eating his breakfast, he looked up at me. “Now don’t forget, no talking or hanging around with that Issac kid.”
“That Issac kid as you put, it saved my life.”
“Not relevant. He hurt you sis.”
“So did you. I forgave you and I forgave him so drop it.”
“I mean it sis.”
“So do I! I’ll hang around with whomever I please, I’ll be friends with whomever I please. You’re still friends with that jerkface after everything he’s done, so stop patronising me and my decisions. Stay the hell out of my decisions Tucker you're going to high school so back off!”
“But…”
“Stay out of it.” I said, grabbing some toast walking out of the house humming. I can’t believe what a jerk he can be sometimes.
“Hey angel.”
I looked up at Bryce's smiling face. Great the other gerk. “Bryce.”
“What’s wrong Angel?”
“Nothing. I’m going to school.”
“It’s a little early don’t you think?”
“Nope, I don't need any more arguments.”
“He only cares about you Angel.”
“Like you then?”
“I always will, even if we don’t see eye to eye on who and whom not to be friends with.”
“You’re a hypocrite Bryce. You and my brother you both are still friends with Ashton Barraman, the biggest jerk around and the one who caused all this, yet you and my brother still stick to him like glue.”
“He’s my best bud.”
“And Issac is my friend, so accept it or we’re done with being friends.”
“You don’t mean that angel.”
“Oh I do, I know where your loyalties lie and they're not with me, but with the guy that makes sure to make my life a living hell. So think about what you say before you do next time, goodbye Bryce have a nice first day.” I said, walking away. God damn jerk.
I heard the door slam to my house for the second time and heard Tucker calling me but I ignored him continuing to school. Guess neither of them liked to hear the truth well tough this is the new improved me and if they don’t like it they can go to hell.
I smiled walking to school. I could finally be with the friend I was kissing most, Issac.
When I got to school Simone wasn’t waiting but the gates. “Where the hell was she?”
I guess I can wait a little while I’m early anyway, then I noticed Issac, Theo and Jayden, I started walking over to them smiling, I can’t believe that I hugged them I don’t usually do hugs but I’d missed them we hadn’t spent any time during the holidays together all cause my brother and his dilutions.
We chatted a while before Simone approached us. We walked in together, spent break and lunch together. I must say this is the best day ever since all the stuff that went down at the end of July, a new year, a new start.
