Courtney
I slowly came around to white walls and the smell of disinfectant, great I’m here in hospital, again! Note the sarcasm.
My mom was by my bedside, sleeping, Tucker was on the other side snoring. I moved slightly and a screaming pain went through me waking them up. Mom hit the buzzer. “Thank god you're finally awake.”
“What happened?”
“We’re not sure honey, all we know is your friend Isaac stayed with you whilst you were having a seizure. He’s a real good friend Courtney he never left your side til the paramedics took you away.”
I smiled, I’d have to thank him when I was well enough to go to school. I nodded. Looking at Tucker he looked exhausted like mom did, like they hadn’t slept. “How long have I been here?”
“A few days they had to sedate you, so they could find out what was wrong with you.”
“What is wrong with me mom?”
“We’ll let the doctors explain honey.”
Okay that didn’t sound good.
The doctor came into my room. “It’s nice to see that you are finally with us Miss. Mendez I’m Dr. Stuart.”
“What’s wrong with me doctor?”
“Nothing that a change of medication won’t solve.” He looked at me. “Your episodes are getting worse Miss. Mendez. You had a seizure that could’ve been fatal. And could have been an onset of epilepsy. You need not to stress too much, you're young and healthy. You need to stop worrying yourself with others and their behaviour towards you. We‘ve upped your medication to help in any further attacks.”
“Thanks doctor.”
“My pleasure.”
“When can I go home?”
He chuckled, “You’re funny Miss. Mendez, but unfortunately you’ve just woken up, we need to keep an eye on you for seventy two hours to see if the medication is working.”
“Okay thanks.”
‘Anytime.” He said, before leaving.
Two weeks and passed I was bored out of my skull. My friends had visited me after I came out of hospital yesterday but I hadn’t seen Issac. Where was he? I needed to see him, to thank him. If it wasn’t for him I may not be here right now.
“What’s wrong sis?”
‘Nothing.’ I lied.
“Yes there is. You can tell me.”
“I thought Issac may have been around to see how I was.”
“About that.”
“What did you do?”
“Me and Bryce, we may have told him to stay away.”
“Why would you even do that?”
“We blamed him for what happened to you sis, so we told him to stay clear. I’m sorry if I hadn’t he would’ve been there quicker and he would’ve been able to ..”
“To what Tucker?”
“I’m sorry sis. You and Ashton were seen arguing. He caught the argument and saw everything, but chose to stay back because we told him to. I’m sorry sis this is all my fault.”
“It's not your fault or anyone else but Ashton Barraman.”
He smiled. Pulling me into a hug. “I hope one day you can forgive me sis I miss you.”
“I miss you too Tucker.”
“Why does Ashton hate you so much?”
“I don’t know, maybe it’s cause I’m a girl and the fact his friends like me too.”
“I don’t understand why he’s so jealous of you being friends with them, they’re cool and they like you he’ll come around sis.”
“I doubt that one will ever happen.”
“We can only hope.”
Yes we can.
I returned to school Monday better than I’d felt in a long time. I was determined to talk to is ax and thank him. I hadn’t seen him all morning. I think he was avoiding me and that hurt, a lot.
I finally caught up with him at lunch. “Hey Issac, wait up!”
“Hey Courtney I can’t stop and talk right now.”
“Please Issac, I don’t hate you. I never did.”
He turned to look at me. Confused. “I know what my brother said to you Isaac and I’m sorry.”
“No need.”
“I wanted to thank you for what you did for me the other day.”
“No need I’d do it for any of my friends.”
“You stuck by me and you didn’t leave me. For that I’m truly grateful.”
“You shouldn't be. I could’ve stopped him and I chose not to.”
“You saved my life Issac.”
“Bu..”
I flung my arms around Isaac. “Thank you so much Isaac for being there and for saving my life.”
“You’re not mad at me?”
“No. You did what you had to and my brother told me what he said to you.”
He smiled and hugged me back. “I missed you kitten.”
“I missed you too.”
“I’m sorry about everything.”
“Let’s not bring that up okay, I forgive you but we have to keep our distance until my brother and his friends leave. They think I hate you and you caused all of my misfortunes but I know that's not true.”
“I know.” he sighed.
“I’m sorry it has to be like this Issac but my brother and Bryce don’t want us hanging around with each other and they had eyes and ears everywhere. I don’t want you to end up where I just came from.”
“I understand.” He sighed. “Once this is over we need to talk about what happened that day and how truly sorry I am.”
“Sure. Until then.”
They hugged tightly like they were saying a final goodbye and they’d never see each other again. But they knew that they would all they had to do was wait until her brother and his friends headed off to highschool on the next few months he could do that, right?

Jayden and I watched as Courtney embraced Issac in a hug we both smiled, we hoped now our friend circle would go back to the norm. But the look on his face when they said their goodbyes and he walked away with his head down we knew that wasn’t the case. “What’s wrong bro?”
“I don’t want to talk about it.”
“Are you sure. You and Courtney, did you sort through things?”
“She thanked me and she didn’t blame me either.”
“That’s good, right?”
“She doesn’t hate me and that’s cool. I can live with that.”
“So what’s wrong?”
“Why did her brother have to ruin everything?”
“So he still doesn’t want you to hang out with Courtney?”
“It looks that way.”
“I’m sorry bro.”

I couldn’t stand the look on Isaac's face anymore, he needed to face facts that he and Courtney would never be able,to hang out whilst her brother and Bryce were watching her every move just six more months, six more months and they’d be gone and off to high school; I kept reminding him, but what would happen when we got to high school would he not be able to talk to her again he wasn’t going to let that happen and I hoped Courtney wouldn’t either he’s lost without her, his struggling academically and he’s lost all hope in everything else. He better pull through this or I’m going to kick his but into line.
