Courtney When we got home all hell was let lose. "Who was that boy Courtney? "Just a friend." "Don't get smart with me, young lady. Who was the boy?" "His name is Jossiah and he goes to my my school." "And how old is this boy?" "Fifteen maybe sixteen what difference does it make?" "Plenty young lady. He's going through things you aren't and I don't wish to have a pregnant twelve year old." "Mom!" I gasped. "You're not to see him again!" "How is that even possible? He's in the same school." "Tucker will be keeping an eye on you." "But mom."I whined looking over at Tucker. 'Some help here bro.' "Sure I will." "Why? He's my friend." "I'm with mom on this. Ges way too old for you Courtney dad I have no idea why he's following around a year seven when there's plenty of girls in his year. He's only after one thing sis. And you're too naive to see it. You're better off friends your own age." "At least he keeps Ashton away from me unlike you!" "I try sis." "Not hard enough. You know he hated me and yet you still hang around him and on his every word. You can choose your own friends but, yet I can't choose mine, you're pathetic. I'm off to bed your not stopping me from being friends with Jossiah. He leaves next summer so suck it up!" I said angrily before stomping up to my room, slamming the door shut and jumping on my bed. I'm so angry right now. I can't believe they're trying to dictate who I can and can't be friends with. That was six months ago Christmas and New Year had been and gone andsummwr was only around the corner. Jossiah is leaving today. I had told him what happened when I got home. He told me not to worry my pretty little head over it. We were never going to stop being friends wherever we were. I wasn't sure if there was a hidden meaning in that or what. The year eleven faf their leaving assembly today. I hadn't seen much of Jossiah as he was in the middle of the exams. I had been busy with my friends doing homework and hanging out which not only pleased Tucker but seemed to please my parents too. Josiah leaned on the wall outside the highschool. He looked up at me and grinned. I smiled at him walking up to him. He pulled me into a hug. "I'm going to miss you, squirt. You're the best thing to ever come out of this school." "I'll miss you Jo." He pulled out a box. "This is for you squirt, so you'll remember me and that we'll be friends now matter where we both are." I nodded, opening the box to a two heart necklace. With 'Never forget' engraved on it, in italics. I love it Jo, thanks." I said hugging him again. "Let me put it on." I nodded moving away from him. He took it out the and opened the clasp putting it around my neck closing the clasp. He kissed my cheek. "Just remember no matter how close or how far away we are, we will always be friends." I nodded. "Always." We gave each other one last hug before we said our goodbyes and he smiled walking away. Tears fell off my face. Simone wrapped her arms around me, hugging me. "Was that Jossiah?" I nodded. "Don't worry Courtney you'll see him one day he may have left school but he'll never leave here" she said tapping my heart. I nodded but I had a bad feeling that I would never see him again. Jossiah Walking away from her was the hardest thing I had ever done. My friends had left half an hour ago so I could say goodbye to her and give her my gift. I'm glad she liked it. I meant every word I had engraved on it 'Never forget' I sure hoped she wouldn't I know that I wouldn't. I hope she'll be okay. I know she's going to be okay. She's strong and firey. I know she won't take no s**t from no one. That's what drew me to her in the first place. She was my angel and I was her protector. I just hope her brother can take as good care of her as I did. She had no idea I wasn't heading to college with the others. I hadn't told her and I had no intentions of ever telling her. Mom and dad had warned and if I didn't book my ideas up that they would send me somewhere I would learn to treat others with respect and what hard work truly meant. I guess I hadn't listened to their warning, so here I was heading to the army barracks for the next three years. I met my friends outside my home along with my parents. "So did you say goodbye to Courtney?' "I did." "Did she like the gift?" "Shd did." "Did you tell her you weren't going to college? But you'd enlisted in the army?" "No and I'd prefer if you didn't tell her either. " "We won't." We all bro hugged and said our goodbyes before I got in the car with my parents heading to the army barracks for my new life.
