Music Recital and Summer Holidays Pt 1

1276 Words
Courtney Our music teacher had formally announced our music recital as a final goodbye to the school and the beginning of a new chapter. This year it had been decided that instead of doing a Christmas play we would be singing carols instead the last part of the year had flown by we were all excited to go to highschool together but sad at the same time. I knew my brother and his friends would be there, especially Ashton Barraman. He was the worst nightmare anyone could ever have, especially me. I’d kept my distance from him and it was working to my advantage I never like my brother anymore. When he went over to his home I respected his wish of no girls allowed even if my mother didn’t. We were all growing up in a few years they’d all be teenagers going through hormonal crap and trying to get as many girls to notice the,cas possible I didn’t want to be any part of that so I would stay away. I’d got my own friends anyway so I didn’t have to converse with them. We’d practiced since January for the recital and now it was the evening. Where everyone would hear our performance the teacher had put us into groups to sing different songs and come together for their goodbyes to our school. “Good evening everyone I’m happy to see many faces I’ve gotten to known over the course of this year. Our music class had worked extremely hard on the recital over the past six months and We discussed with the whole year six group what songs they would like to perform. The songs we all decided on are : Roar - Katy Perry, Brave, by Sara Bareille,Firework - Katy Perry,Beautiful - Christina Aguilera, Runaway - Kelly Clarkson and Happy - Pharrell Williams song. I hope you agree with all of us that they all have specific meaning to each and every one of us so enjoy.” They all sat silent as the first group stood up and sang it would go on like this until the final song where all of year six would perform the final song together. Everyone stood up clapping as we bowed. Wow, I never thought we’d get through the recital. We all took a quick break and to refresh. “Welcome back everyone three will be three songs left of the children’s recital firework, break away and finally last but not least happy which all the children will be singing.” The music teacher said, before exiting the stage. The final two groups sang their songs before we all joined in for the final song. “Happy.” “Thank you everyone for coming. I am extremely proud of this year's music group and I will hope and pray that they will continue their hard work through high school and beyond. We will truly miss all of the year sixes and wish the best for their future whether it will be with their friends here or new ones. Year six lakes and gentlemen.” All of our parents clapped and we bowed once again. ~ These last six weeks have flew by. We'd all been handing our over the holidays. Apart from two weeks we visited some of our relatives in Mexico. Unfortunately they were in their rainy season so it had rained most of the time that we were there. But we all enjoyed our away there. It was the last day of the summer holidays. We'd been back for a week now and I was happy to chill with my friends. We'd done so much over the holidays: went to the fair, water park, cinema and swimming. Now we were slm inside because of course it had decided to rain the last few days of our summer holiday. Guess we can't complain though we've fad the best weather this summer in a long time so we couldn't knock it. I sat staring out of the window in my room and sighed the rain was getting worse. It was like a river coming down the road, the puddles looked at least three or maybe four inches deep. Great. "Hey angel how's it going?" I turn around and smile. Bryce had been staying with us for the last week as his parents were on a business trip. I was surprised after what happened over the Christmas holidays but my parents promised that they would keep a better eye on all of us even though none of us would be doing that soon we'd learned our lesson to stay the hell away from my dad's homebrew if we didn't want a repeat of new year. "Hey " He walked in smiling. “So what are you up to?" "Not much." I sighed. He sat down. I hate this weather we can't do Jack shit." "I know." I sighed again. Why don't you come downstairs me and Tucker have the xbox on " "Maybe later. " "Come on angel. I'm going home later. I'd like to see you before I go." "You're seeing me now." 'Ha ha very funny." "I thought so." "Come on angel you always disappear on us these days." "It's called having friends." "Come just Angel, we're l friends too." "Okay." I sighed. "Great let's go. Tucker thinks your ignoring us." I gasp. "I would never!" "I know." But to be honest I have been not intentionally but I try and keep my distance when it concerns Tucker’s friends especially Ashton for some reason he dislikes my company. Bryce I've been here a week and I've finally got Courtney out of her room. She has been avoiding us like the plague. I think it has something to do with Asher. He'd been on her case since they moved in and it's getting rather old. We haven't seen Asher for a few days. Since it started raining. He hates the rain. If he could miss school he would. So it's just been me and Tucker, seen as Courtney, decided to hide in her room. Not today, angel we're spending time together before I go home later tonight. Tucker I look around and smile. "So you finally got her out of her pit?" 'Yeah took some convincing." I smirked. "I was starting to think we weren't going enough for your company " "It's not you Tuck, it's..." 'I know Courtney but you can hide away cause Ashton is here." "I nodded. I just don't want to get in the way." "You're not Courtney you live here. You shouldn't be hiding in your room, you can join us, just ignore Ash. We all do." "He'd right angel. This is your home, you shouldn't feel unwanted in it. Ignore Ash if he doesn't like you being here he knows where the door is." She smiled. Courtney and Ash hadn't got on since we moved here. I wish they would they're both part of my life. I tapped the empty space on the sofa and smiled. "Come on, let's see I'd we can beat you highest score." She smiled. "Game on." I grinned this was going to be fun. We played a few games when mom and dad came back commenting on us finally getting Courtney out of her room. After supper Bryce’s parents picked him up. At least this time we hadn't got into any trouble which they were happy about. We said our goodbyes as we'd be seeing each other tomorrow. Tomorrow we'll be going into year eight and Courtney will be beginning year seven and a new school. If any one bullies her oll be breaking bones.
