The Beast Inside Me

Chapter : Two

Hugo's POV  :

"Elijah, Hugo and Maddison come here please" My mom called all of us up to her on the stage. We all made our way up to her and stood next to each other, Maddison to my right and Elijah to my left. My mother and father looked out to all the werewolves with a huge smile on their faces.

"So everyone knows that today is the Alpha/Luna ceremony but it is also my children's birthday today and I just want to say that I am so proud of the young adults that you have become and I am so thankful that I get to be the mother I have always wanted to be the most amazing, beautiful children. So happy birthday to the three of you" My mother said, I could tell she was nearly in tears that her children have became adults. 

Just as we were about to hug her she stopped us before looking back out into the crowd of werewolves. 

"I would like everyone to sing them a happy birthday" My father said looking at us. 

"On the count of three. One, two, three." 

"Happy birthday to you, 

Happy birthday to you, 

Happy birthday to Elijah, Maddison, Hugo,

Happy birthday to you"  Everyone sang, I looked out at everyone seeing that they all had a smile on their faces. I looked back at my parents and hugged them both at the same time as did Elijah and Maddison. 

"Thank you" I said to everyone with a huge smile on my face. "I love you both" I told them both as I pulled away from them, tears beginning to show in my mothers eyes before she quickly blinked them away. 

Just as everyone was about to split to talk to each other and eat food, my father had quickly stopped them. 

"I would like everyone to just wait" He said taking a breathe to look at my mother before speaking again "Whoever gets made the Alpha or Luna, you will respect that decision. We will start the ceremony in two hours so make sure that you are back here" My father said, before moving away from the microphone and wrapped his arm around my mothers waist.  

*Later That Night* 

I watched as my parents stood on the stage talking to the seven hundred plus pack members in the crowd. Elijah just stood there looking proud of himself thinking he will become the Alpha and Maddison didn't really looked fussed, she just looked happy. 

"So tonight we will find out who will take over the Red Ash pack and I just want all three of you to know that no matter who becomes Alpha or Luna that your mom and myself as well as this pack will love and respect every decision you make for this pack." My father said to us as we all stood there listening to every word he said. 

"So I would like to call all three of you up here" My mom said through the microphone with a huge smile on her face. Elijah went up first followed by Maddison and then myself and stood in a triangle. My father had picked up a knife and passed it to Elijah. 

Everyone had watched us intensely to see who would become the next leader. Just as Elijah cut his palm, he passed Maddison the knife. She quickly cut her palm and hung it above the bowl next to Elijah's. She then passed me the knife, something inside me was telling me not to cut my palm but I knew I didn't have a choice. 

I sliced my palm slowly, the pain coming through in waves. I put my palm next to Elijah's and Maddison's so our hands were in a triangle and let the blood drip slowly into the bowl. Enough of our blood went into the bowl and the three of us stepped back away from it. 

We waited thirty seconds and thins began to happen with our blood, smoke began to lift from the bowl, our blood started to mix together in the air around the smoke. Slowly, the blood starts to move towards all three of us decided who is the leader. I closed my eyes, knowing that I wouldn't get picked. It is impossible for this pack to have a human Alpha. 

Suddenly, everyone begins to gasp loudly, causing me to open my eyes only to see that the blood had stopped right in front of me. I looked out towards everyone to see that they were just as shocked as me. I looked towards my parents and although I could see they were shocked they had the biggest smiles upon their faces. 

Out of nowhere, I began to feel the strongest waves of power rush right through my veins. I couldn't help but let out a Earth shattering scream as the power had began to get even stronger. 

After a few more seconds of feeling this much power run through my veins, I began to go deaf from how loud I had screamed. I covered my ears, watching as everyone else was doing the same as I fell down onto my knees. 

Finally after a few minutes, I had began to calm down, the power slowly starting to fade my scream getting quieter until I stopped screaming. I uncovered my ears, looking up at my parents to see a worried yet shocked expression on their faces. Would I be able to deal with this much power? Would Elijah and Maddison hate me for becoming the new Alpha to the Red Ash pack? 

Once I had managed to get back up onto my feet, my parents quickly hugged me tightly whispering into my ears. 

"You will be an amazing Alpha Hugo and we will always be here to help you through this." My father told me, reassuring me that I wouldn't go through it alone. 

"Thank you" I told them. 

As they pulled away Elijah and Maddison came towards me with the biggest smiles on their faces. 

"Congratulations Hugo!! " Maddison practically yelled with a huge smile on her face. 

"Thank you Maddie" I replied smiling back towards her. 

"Congratulations brother" Elijah said, stood there with a simple brotherly smile. I was thankful I had them as siblings. They were jealous and it didn't seem like they hated me. Everyone including myself was so convinced that Elijah would be the one to get picked since he was a lot stronger than myself and Maddison. I knew that I would have to become a lot more things to protect this pack now. Hopefully it wouldn't be impossible to find a mate if it was possible to become an Alpha. 

I walked over to the microphone and looked out towards the crowd. 

"Thank you to everyone for tonight. I will protect this pack no matter what it takes. You will all become my first priority even if I am human I promise I will protect you." I told everyone and although I may not have got along with everyone before, everyone had still cheered for me. I didn't want to have to make enemies with anyone especially since I was Alpha now. 

"I hope you all enjoy the rest of your night" I finished off before walking back towards my parents and siblings with a huge smile on my face. 

"Congratulations Hugo" They all said in unison, smiling. 

"Thank you guys." I replied, hugging them all. After speaking to them for some time I had finally decided to go and mingle with the rest of the crowd. It was hard to walk around there was that many people. I think I was definitely ready for bed as I felt myself begin to get tired. 

I decided to pour myself a drink to wake myself a little more and was approached by a group of girls, I guess becoming Alpha you're bound to attract more attention. 

"Hello Hugo" One girl who looked around my age said, her hand rubbing on my arm in a seductive way. I don't think I would want to give anyone else my attention unless its my mate, if I have a mate. 

"I do apologise but I'm not interested. You are beautiful but if I do have a mate then I would rather wait for her." I told the girl in a nice way. She just huffed and left with her group of friends.

After talking to everyone for two more hours I had finally decided to go to bed, quickly jumping into the shower and getting into just shorts. It didn't take very long before I had finally managed to fall asleep with the sound of people talking and singing.
