The Beast Inside Me

Hugo's POV : As a child growing up, I wasn't all that popular. I was just a normal boring human in a pack of werewolves. Other than my family, no one really spoke to me. I was labelled as the loner, weird kid by all the kids around my age. I wasn't to bothered by it, I liked my own space. I had peace and I didn't have to make everyone other than my family happy.  On the other hand, Maddison and Elijah were a lot more popular, they had friends ever since we were young. It wasn't shocking that they would have loads of friends given the fact that they are werewolves.  "Hugo, can you go and help your sister set up the tables please?" My mom asked as she was carrying a bunch of balloons in both hands. Our birthdays were tomorrow so we all had to get everything ready.  For werewolves, once they turn eighteen they are guaranteed to find their mate, unfortunately no one knew if I would find a mate or not since I was the first human to be born by a pack of werewolves. I hoped and prayed that I would have my own mate one day. Even if I didn't get a mate, I hoped that Elijah and Maddison finds their mates tomorrow.  "Sure" I just said and made my way out to the garden to see a lot of tables with white cloths covering them.  "Mom sent me out to help" I told Maddison, walking closer to her and picking up some of the other cloths and began to put them on the tables.  "Thank you, are you excited to finally turn eighteen?" She questioned.  "I am, I just hope I get a mate as well." I wouldn't normally just open up about my feelings but given how much of a close relationship I had with my siblings, I couldn't hold back my emotions.  "Hey, I'm sure you will get a mate as well but it is alright if you don't" She reassured me, wrapping her arm around my shoulder. I was unbelievably lucky to have her as my sister.  "Thanks Maddie" I said wrapping my arms around her giving her the biggest teddy bear hug ever, practically squishing her ribs.  "Come on, lets finish up getting everything ready for tomorrow." She said, getting up and pulling me with her and we got on with it.  *The Next Day*  "Elijah get your ass out of bed will you" I woke up to the sound of my fathers voice shouting Elijah, it wasn't a shocker since Elijah was always the last one to get up.  I got up and opened the curtains to reveal the bright light from the sun. I made my way to the bathroom after a few more seconds of looking out the window and taking in the scenery. I turned on the shower to warm up before stripping down and hopped in the nice, hot water that ran down my back. Since today was so busy I decided to just brush my teeth while I was in the shower to save time.  Once I was finally done washing myself, I quickly jumped out and dried myself off wrapping the towel around my waist and made my way to my walk-in closet. After searching what to wear for the day, I finally decided on a black t-shirt, black ripped skinny jeans and a pair of black vans shoes. I was quite happy with what I had decided to wear even if it was casual.  Being happy with my outfit, I made my way down the stairs to see a bunch of people rushing in and out of the kitchen with food and other things for our birthday. "Morning" I simply said to everyone else that was in the kitchen while I looked what I could eat for breakfast. After what felt like forever to decide, I chose bacon and eggs.  "Morning sweetheart and happy birthday, finally the big eighteen today where has the time gone" My mom said, squeezing me tightly.  "I love you mom but I'm not a werewolf like you guys so if you break my ribs by squeezing me any harder then I wont heal as quick as you guys." I breathed out when she had finally let go of me, I could tell by the look on her face she felt bad for hugging me so tightly.  "Don't worry, I'm just messing with you" I said wrapping my arms back around her neck hugging her again.  Ever since being a child I had always been a mommy's boy as much as I loved my father. I guess you could say it was because she was always so protective with me since I was human and she didn't want anything bad to happen to me. My father on the other hand was still protective but he was a lot more chilled back than my mom was.  He knew that anything could happen to me and that the pack would always be in danger, that I would always be in danger if someone had tried to attack us since I was human I couldn't defend myself in the slightest bit. I guess that's why my mom was protective and never let me out of her sight.  "Well I just want to say that you being human doesn't make you any less than us, and it is okay if you don't find your own mate. You're future is completely unpredictable, and that is fine." She told me, I knew she cared for me and she didn't want me to feel sad so I could understand why she would be saying all this.  "Mom, don't worry. Whatever happens now is destined to happen and I'm okay with it." I told her, reassuring her.  "Alright, well I love you Hugo and I hope you enjoy today" She smiled up at me.  "I love you too, Mom" I told her just before she left to do whatever she needed to do.  Finally after cooking and eating my breakfast, I decided to go out to the garden and see how everything had came together. If it wasn't our eighteenth birthday I would have probably complained that they didn't have to make sure a big deal of it but one of us would be made Alpha today. Usually the first born child would be made Alpha but since there was three of us, we had to let our blood decide who would became Alpha or Luna. Everyday and myself already knew that I wouldn't become Alpha given that I am just a normal boring human so it would be between Elijah and Maddison and I can only be happy for one of them. One would be made Alpha/Luna and the next one would become the Beta.  I guess today will only be eventful.
