Lucian and Liam's hearts were enraged. As Lucian panted his head down, he felt her warm hand patting his back.
He lifted his head to see her beautiful face with a smile on it. "Rage is not an answer my son! If you do not learn to tame your anger you will lose everything, including the one person who should be the most important in your life!" her voice faded in the air as she disappeared.
"Don't leave mother! I have many questions that need answers…" he pleaded.
The goddess was gone just as she came.
Lucian was overwhelmed! He felt alone since the demise of his parents. As the only child, he had to carry the burdens of his kingdom and his own alone.
He needed a mate to help him offload.
He knew his beta was his confidant but they didn't grow up together, he wasn't very close to him to be free to offload on him.
Lucian was 18 years old when his father died from a horrible accident in Europe.
His mother couldn't take it and she succumbed to grief and she died six months later.
He had been studying in an exclusive place north of Europe where there was a Lycan pack.
Lycans were known to be the closest to spirit wolves. After the goddess it was the Spirit wolves, then the Lycans, followed by the werewolves.
His parents had arranged for him to study at this pack because they believed that it would prepare him for his rule.
Lucian was a successful business Guru who had multiple streams of income.
He was very good at making business partnerships with human beings, werewolves, Lycans and other supernatural beings.
He learned to detach his emotions from many things and people just so he could be able to do business without feeling guilty if he needed to be strict.
It would not be an understatement to say he was extremely wise and wealthy.
His kingdom may not even know he was the one holding them up through his sources of income.
Some were of the belief that he just inherited the wealth of the kingdom.
Of course the kingdom also had sources of income but they were all fueled by Lucian's prowess in business.
He had meticulously checked and balanced the accounts all the time. He studied accounting online and had a master's degree in commerce and accounting.
Timothy Eclipse his Beta and Luke Powers his Gamma were the only people who understood him and the financial situation of the kingdom.
Lucian sat down on the dirt under a tree and pondered on the goddess' words. He wondered who she was referring to by the most important person.
'Was she somehow referring to Summer? Is she really a match this time around? Am I really the most powerful Spirit Wolf King or is it someone after me? What if Macian is the right candidate? Why is Summer gravitating towards him rather than me?' He thought.
These thoughts killed him. He really liked this one and she seemed to like him back until she met the deceptive Macian.
Thinking about him, he felt his anger come back again. He stood up, dusted himself and shifted back to his wolf and raced back to the palace!
It was 8am by the time he went back to the palace and he went straight to the shower in the gym room.
He walked into the private dining room dressed in grey sweatpants, a white T-shirt and black Nike takkies. He put on a white Nike cap. He looked delectable and no woman would resist looking at such handsomeness. The maids and cooks smiled involuntarily and bowed at him.
Summer was seated opposite Macian and Emeldah was not in sight. They were waiting for him.
He walked in casually and tried with everything inside him to remain calm.
Macian didn't normally eat in the private dining room. It was solely meant for the nuclear royal family.
The rest had their food in their houses.
Lucian wondered what his mission was today. He hoped he would resist him and his tactics today.
Lucian was about to pull out a chair and sit when Summer stood up to greet him.
She didn't know why Macian invited him for breakfast with Lucian. She didn't feel comfortable around Lucian but she wanted to honor Macian's invitation.
"Greetings your Highness!" she said, her head bowed.
Lucian's heart squeezed! He really hoped that staying away from Summer and opting to eat his meals in the private room away from her would make her change her attitude to him.
He wished she was free around him but seeing her like that made him feel so far from getting close to her.
Macian stood up and did the same. Lucian glared at him. He figured that that was one of his tactics to make him look like a tyrant in front of Summer.
He mastered the courage to stop himself from punching his cousin. He nodded to them and sat down.
After the meal, Lucian thought he could do something to make Summer's heart soften towards him.
"Here, please go with the girls to the mall and get yourself the things you need," Lucian handed over a black diamond card with unlimited funds to Summer.
Summer was surprised to see a smile on Lucian's face. It gave her a little hope that he wasn't such a bad person but she opted to not take it.
She wasn't used to any of that. She had never even had the liberty to shop for her Christmas clothes.
Living in an orphanage, they were dashed clothes from charity organizations only.
She wouldn't even know what to buy, and besides she wasn't sure of her future in the palace, she didn't want to owe him anything.
She shook her head, "thank you your Highness but I don't need anything," she said not even picking his card.
He was surprised at her behavior! No girl would pass up an opportunity to shop without limit.
He personally opened an account for Summer last week and deposited a million dollars in it.
He remembered how he even thought it was little money but now she didn't even show gratitude.
She looked at the card and looked at Lucian then shook her head.
"Princess Summer, I think you can use it, besides it's your husband-to-be's duty to take care of you, so go ahead and take it," Macian persuaded her.
She looked at Macian and smiled. "Would you accompany us, Duke Macian?" she asked.
Lucian's heart pace picked up as he clenched his left fist. He didn't think Summer would say that.
He was being nice to her but she was spraying dust right on his efforts.
She was about to reject his kind gesture but would prefer if Macian would escort her?
If he didn't know he would think Macian had bewitched Summer.
"There will be royal guards to escort you and your maids Princess Summer, there's no need for him to go along," Lucian said, trying so hard to sound calm while he was raging mad.
Summer looked at him and said, "well then I don't think I need to go anywhere," she then looked the other way.
Lucian felt his heart tighten up! He was feeling so jealous! He didn't know what Macian's end goal was but he surely was accomplishing it.
He felt that he would explode at any moment if he didn't leave.
Sliding down the card towards Summer, Lucian stood up and left without saying goodbye.
Summer frowned, she thought of such behaviour as rude.
"Don't mind him Princess! Let me hold that for you!" Macian said loud enough for Lucian to hear as he exited the door.
