Triggering Him

1330 Words
Though Summer felt unwelcome at the dinner, she was happy that no one asked her questions that exposed her lack and weaknesses. She found out that most people there had disapproving looks towards her. She wouldn't blame them but she felt that they shouldn't make it look like she wanted to be there. She was never given a choice concerning this matter. After eating, one who identified himself as the secretary to the King began to introduce everyone to her. All in all there were ten ministers with twenty assistant ministers. All these people had their wives with them. She nodded to every introduction but she knew there was no way she would get all those names. She was happy to have the handsome Macian help her climb the stairs to the second floor and showed her the elevator she didn't know existed. She was surprised by such hospitality from that gentleman. 'Perhaps the king should have been Macian and not Lucian. Maybe their names got swapped in the ballot box or something?' She thought while blowing off a strand of hair from her cheek. Macian looked at her with admiration that it was hard for her to notice such affection. With a ding from the elevator, they finally stepped out of it and Macian asked her where her room was. She blushed when she felt his hand on her waist urging her forward. He smirked internally. He felt that she was truly beautiful. Even more beautiful than the one he chose. If only he knew, he would have waited and not mated with Emeldah Bows two months back. To Macian, Summer was a natural beauty and if groomed well, she would be the most beautiful queen ever! When they got to her room, he opened the door for her and urged her to get inside. "Go ahead princess! Have yourself a lovely evening!" he said, doing a little bow to her. She went inside and turned around to thank him. He hadn't even attempted to get inside. 'Such a gentleman! Why was I chosen for someone like the king who seems to have a temper and not this gentleman?' She thought. Macian shifted to the other side of the door. His move revealed Lucian's silhouette by the elevator and his seething face wasn't hard to spot from afar. Summer's eyes fell on his clenched fists. 'This man seems to struggle with anger issues. I can't believe I got attracted to him in the first place! Her eyes showed disappointment and when Lucian realized, it was too late to change his demeanor or try to make her see it wasn't directed at her but Macian. She shook her head and said her goodbyes to Macian, ignoring the king. She closed the door behind and sat on her bed, pondering on the events of the evening. From her interaction with Macian, she figured that she was more at ease with him than king Lucian. She started questioning God why he chose her for this task at hand. She didn't have confidence that she would be able to overcome so many hurdles thrust into her life at such an age. She knew that her life would never be normal again. The moment she accepted to be a Nun was the turn around for everything. She wished she could turn back the hands of time and never have gone to that convent. Macian turned around and made it look like he didn't know Lucian was there. "Oh cousin, did you not trust me with your Queen to be? You just had to follow us here?" He smirked at the livid Lucian. It didn't take rocket science for anyone to realize that Macian was deliberately triggering him, but he seemed to not see it. Lucian lost it and was soon holding Macian by the collar of his shirt. He was naturally stronger than Macian physically and it was no secret. However, Macian was emotionally intelligent and emotionally strong. He was deliberately triggering Lucian and he was not seeing the bait. "I'm warning you Macian, pull up such stunts again and I swear, I won't hesitate to kill you!" Lucian growled. "Tsk Tsk Tsk, cousin! Threat to kill is an offence punishable by law. You and I both know you can't just kill willy nilly even if you are the king. Besides, would you be happy if your would-be queen sees this video?" Macian said, nodding in the direction of the camera in the passageway. Lucian loosened his grip and let go of Macian! "I didn't know you were this desperate to get the throne that you would resort to such cheap tactics, cousin!" Lucian said, shaking his head in disappointment! Macian grinned and whispered so his words would not be captured in the camera. "Then be ready for my challenge Oh king!" he smiled and turned to leave. Lucian smiled and said, "Bring it on dear cousin! I have fate on my side!" he turned to leave also. When Theo and Matty wanted to go check on Princess Summer they saw the confrontation between the king and his cousin. Instead of passing they hid behind the big plants in the very big vases by the corner. They knew that the plants would help to mask their scents. They heard everything and being the intelligent girls they were, they picked it up that Macian was competing for the throne with Lucian. This irked them and they vowed to never let Macian's plans succeed. Unfortunately they came after the whole thing with Summer and had no idea that Summer was thrown into the midst of it. A couple of weeks down the line, Summer felt much better and so her training started. They started with the basics of the gym. Just to get her active and make her muscles stronger and ready for rigorous training later. Initially, Lucian should have been the one to train her but he ended up giving the task to one of the female warriors. He realized how Macian's plans had soiled his character before Summer's eyes and he figured he should temporarily stay away from her. This was a decision that he and Liam didn't like but they had no choice. Everyday he was aware that Macian was charming his way to Summer's heart and it killed him. He wished he could shred Macian to pieces but even so, he knew that he couldn't. "Tim, handle the training today! I need to go for a long run!" Lucian told him and didn't wait for him to respond. Timothy, his beta knew that his king had been under a lot of emotional stress lately so he let it go. As a clan of the only existing Spirit Wolves in the world, they were considered the purest of the wolf people. They were considered the strongest and closest to the goddess. In recent years , they had been reduced to common werewolves in terms of strength and agility. That was the reason why they needed a strong king who would be able to extract the stuff of power that was stuck in the rock within a shrine. Only that stuff could restore their power and authority and make them fearful once again. Lucian punched all the trees in a row and had them down within minutes. He was raging mad at that moment and he didn't care that he was hurting himself. As a special Spirit Wolf, he had insane healing abilities so he wasn’t worried about scarring. He needed to vent so the trees unfortunately got the brunt of his rage. What enraged him was the fact that he constantly saw Macian visiting Summer at the gym and he didn't hide it but rubbed on his face the fact that Summer trusted him more than Lucian. "King Lucian Moonchild! What is troubling your spirit son?" a voice spoke out of thin air and recognizing it, he fell on his knees panting heavily!
