I completed the work given by Samuel an hour before my office hours ended. I did the work on time so that no argument or sarcasm came out of Samuel’s mouth. But he still found a reason to tease and advise me.

“Don’t you have a sense of how to speak in front of your superiors? Especially the CEO of this company”.

I did not go to correct Samuel. Because I don’t care what he says about me.

Before I went to leave the office, Maria came to me.

“Ruby, I have some work to do. So I can’t come with you,”. Maria told me with a tired face.

“I can wait,” I said.

“It’s okay. You go,” Maria said.

Although we always want to leave the office together, we often don’t. Sometimes I stay late to get down to finish work or she does. I saw Eric’s cabin door open. Eric came out from inside the cabin. Then he started coming straight towards us. Maria still didn’t see Eric coming towards us. I warned Maria.

“Maria, Eric is coming to us”.

Maria looked back. Eric had reached near us. I kept some distance from Maria. I was not interested in interacting with Eric.

“Maria, by the time I reach the office tomorrow, all the files should be ready,” Eric said.

“Okay, sir,” Maria said.

Before leaving, Eric looked at me. He said nothing, me too. Eric walked straight to the elevator. Eric still covered his eyes with the cooling glass.

“Okay then, see you tomorrow. Bye.” After Maria said these words to me, Maria walked towards her desk. I went to the elevator. That’s when I saw Eric just entered the elevator. He was the only one inside the elevator. If I walk a little faster, I can get to the elevator. But I can’t stand in the elevator with him. So I strolled towards the elevator. The elevator doors started closing. But Eric stopped the elevator doors from closing.

“Hurry,” Eric said loudly, waving at me.

After hearing Eric’s words, I rushed straight to the elevator. The elevator doors closed as soon as I got in. Now I’m alone in that elevator with Eric. Eric pressed his finger on the ground floor button in the elevator. We go down with the elevator.

“What was your name?” Eric asked me.

Eric’s sudden question really shocked me.

“Ruby, sir,” I said.

“Ruby, are you free tonight at eight?”.

I wasn’t prepared for that question. I said without a second thought.

“Sir, I am free at 8”

“Then you should come to the casino restaurant at 8 pm,” Eric said.

“Sir, why”?

“I’ll tell you when you get there,” Eric said, interrupting my question.

I couldn’t see any difference on Eric’s face. He talks like a boss. Eric straightens his cooling glass. Then he put his hand inside his pants pocket. When Eric started talking to me, the first thing I thought was to say was sorry to me. But the word forgiveness did not come out of his mouth. I don’t know why he called me to the restaurant. I had to ask Eric why he called me to the restaurant. But I never asked Eric about it again. Because that was not a request from Eric. It’s an order. I must go to the restaurant he mentioned. Because Eric is the CEO of the company I work for.

The elevator reached the ground floor. Then the elevator doors slowly opened. Eric stepped off the elevator without waiting for it to fully open. Then he walked straight away without even looking back at me. I got out of the elevator behind Eric. The mobile inside my bag started ringing. Dad is calling when I take my mobile out of my bag. I took the call.

“Dad, I left the office,” I said.

“Ruby, Lucy’s boyfriend, came to our house. Come quickly.” Dad said.

“I’m Coming”

I cut the call. As I walked forward, I saw Eric and Jessica talking to each other a short distance away.
