The dazzling flash of the camera, the music playing in the background, and the chattering of the guests greeted Violet as she entered the convention hall. Some guests were busy having their own conversation, not really aware of her presence, most of them were familiar faces. While there's a some guests, mostly men, who turned their heads to her as soon as she entered.
She just kept walking. She didn't care about the stares that were focused on her. She is very used to it. They can drool over her until they are fed up. But what made her stop on her tracks was when she heard someone mentioned her name. And she knew very well whose voice it was. She immediately looked in the direction where it came from and that's when her world stopped for a moment when her eyes caught the sight of the person who could able to soften her cold heart. Skye.
She's standing at the other end, a little far away from her, but she could see the surprise on her face from where she stood. She couldn't blame her though, even her was surprised to see her mate here.
What a good timing it is. She's in her ovulation period now and her mate was here. It can only drive her hormones crazy and she didn't liked it. Actually, she will definitely love it if it's in different circumstances but not during a birthday party. Her mate's gaze and her captivitang scent just made it more difficult for her. And she looks so very fine on her light brown suit with black turtle neck top. Violet wanted to turn around, walk back to her car and go home but it's too late when a low soft voice greeted her.
"Good evening, Violet."
A woman who looked to be in her fifties immediately approached her with a smile on her lips. She looks good on her one shoulder olive green side slit ankle length dress. The woman is Julie Gregg, the sweet and beloved wife of John.
"Good evening to you too, Julie." Violet greeted her back. Her tone of voice may not be as polite as it should but it has respect and the older woman knew that. She walked to her and gave her a hug which Violet reciprocated.
"It's good to see you again." Julie pulled back, but her smile remained. "I thought you wouldn't come."
"Where's John?" Violet asked.
"Oh he was there. Come on, he's been waiting for you." The old lady replied before she guide her to where her husband was.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the room, Skye couldn't take her eyes away on Violet. She admits that the woman looks so hot on her red dress with her long hair beautifully cascaded down her back. She could be the star of the night.
"She could be the star of the night." Skye quickly turned her head back to Shaw when he speaks. She couldn't believe they have the same thought.
The man had a dreamy look on his eyes that were fixed towards the woman who both captured their attention. Skye mentally cursed. No way that her idol will be one of her rivals. But should they be called rivals if she didn't even confess her feelings to Violet in the first place. And even though if she did, she think she didn't have a chance. Shaw actually had more chances than her, he is handsome, rich ,well known and he is a man.
"Yeah, you're right." her short reply.
-------------------------------------------------------------
It's been about an hour when the party had officially started. All of the guests had already finished the foods on their plate. Others were back on talking and gossiping while few dances on the center area. While Skye was still sitting alone on her designated seat, just absentmindedly poking her food using her fork. She had eaten only half of her food cause she seemed to be full now.
She turned her head on Maddison and Levi who were peacefully dancing. The looks they were giving to each other while dancing was envious. They are so in love to each other. She wish she can experience that kind of love.
As soon as the word love came to her thoughts, her eyes automatically landed on the brunette who was gracefully talking to the birthday celebrant on their table which was beside the stage, a few meters away from theirs.
She wanted to approached her earlier but the woman looks so busy, it's like she doesn't have time alone cause there will always someone who wanted to have a conversation with her. Skye didn't want to interrupt her and force herself on talking to her. The brunette didn't even took a glanced at her anymore since the party started, it's as if Violet is avoiding her no matter how many times she stares at her.
"Hey." Skye's attention turned to the man who approached her. It's shaw. He had a tight smile on his face as he casually sat beside her. "I hope you don't mind me sitting here with you. I'm just avoiding someone." He added with a huffed as he look around.
"It's okay." She replied. She didn't know what is happening to her. Her most idolized motorcycle road racer was sitting beside her but it feels like she wanted someone else to be on that seat. He was the reason why she came her, she should be talking to him now about racing and motorcbikes as they should cause this might be her only chance of meeting him this close. But it's as if her interest on him went to others. More specifically, to the gorgeous brunette who was now looking at their table.
Skye caught her eyes and they stared at each other. She can't tell what Violet was thinking, her expression was unreadable. They just looking at each other when suddenly, Shaw speaks again when he saw the old lady that was bothering him coming towards them.
"I'm sorry to bother you but can you do me a favor and have a dance with me?" He asked and Skye was startled when he took her right hand before he stood. "Please?" He pleaded.
Skye didn't know what to say, she didn't know how to dance. But the pleading eyes of her idol makes it hard for her to turned him down.
"The devil is coming." He nodded his head towards the lady who's been bothering him. "I just wanted to avoid her that's all. If we can stop if you're not comfortable." He added with a smile. Assuring her enough that she eventually nodded her head.
They both walk towards the center and begin to dance. Fully unaware of the stares that the brunette was giving to them.
