"Jesus Christ! " Skye cried out in pain as she rub her head while tightly clutching Maddison's wallet on her other hand.
She dragged herself out on her sister's car and glared at the one that was parked behind them who by the way was the sole reason why her head aches in pain. They honk at her and she got startled. Which causes her to accidentally bumped her head on the car's roof.
"What the f**k?" She muttered when the owner of the car seems to have no intention of going out and show himself to her. The car was heavily tinted so she can't see their faces from where she's standing.
She let out a frustrated sighed and closed the car's door with some force before she took a steps forward. This isn't new. She had also dealt with some guy before who honked his car's horn at her onetime when she took a run early in the morning. She blamed it on the black leggings she wore that day.
Skye only had a few steps when her phone rang. She immediately stop on her tracks and pulled out her phone on her back pocket. She sighed for a ninth time when she saw the caller ID. It's her father again.
She closed her eyes and raised her head towards the sky. Their last conversation led to a fight. And for sure if she will talk to him now, it will also led to another fight. Her father never call her just to know how was she or if she's alright. Or how is her life. He always had something to say. And that's what she hated about. Her fingers were itching to end the call but she was certain that her father just wouldn't stop calling her until she accept the call. Frank is quite stubborn sometimes and Skye inherited it from him.
Skye opened her eyes and took her attention back to the phone. She accepted the call before she placed it on her right ear. "What's up?" She said uninterested.
"Since when did you quit your job?" Frank asked her as soon as she done speaking. His voice is deep, cold and stern, gone was the warmth and gentle.
"Since when did you care?" Skye said with a hint of annoyance. The words just automatically left on her mouth and she's not surprised.
She heard her father sighed before he speak again. "That's not a proper way to talk to your father, Skye. Do you know that?"
'I don't want to talk to you in the first place, do you know that?' She wanted to said it out to him but just kept her mouth shut instead.
"What do you want?" She asked instead, calming herself.
She will try to at least not to ruin her day. Maddison asked her to buy some baking ingredients since Martha will be the one to make their wedding cake. She suggested to bake all her cake recipes for them to try which one they would fancy. Basically, they will have a cake tasting this afternoon with the patterson's, so she doesn't want to ruin that moment just because her father called.
"Why did you quit your job?" He asked and patiently wait for Skye to answer.
Skye rolled her eyes. Of course he will pester her about her job. She knew her father was involved on her previous job, as a cashier in a candy store. Her boss is a total b***h, she wouldn't just hired Skye that easily. She just thought the b***h just fired someone that day so she decided to call her and hired her after. It was later on that she knew that her boss is actually the wife of her father's close friend s***h co-worker.
She confronted her about it but he kept pretending that he wasn't involved. She hates that she accepted the job but she had no choice. It was a pretty decent job actually. No hardwork, kind employees and she got to sneakily eat some candy and talk with kids. The only problem was her boss. She's the reason why she quit. She can't stand her attitude.
"Because I wanted to." She said casually as she shrugged. There's no reason for her to talk about it further.
"So you wanted to be jobless?" He said after a while and it quickly made her blood boiled. How could he say that to her? Since when did he care if she's jobless? She's adult now and had a life of her own. She's not under his roof anymore so he shouldn't mind it. Not when all he could do for her was to control her life than actually care. That's what Skye thought.
"Well, If that's what I really want or not, we both know it's none of your business." Skye said frustratedly and ended the call right away. Not even giving her father a chance to speak further.
The auburn haired girl signed and look elsewhere. She bit her lower lip hard trying to contain her annoyance. When she thought she's calm enough, she quickly turned towards the direction of the store and move forward. Totally forgetting about the heavily tinted car and unaware of the deep stares that the brunette was giving her from the driver's seat.
