(3:38 pm)
Skye's sleep was interrupted again for the second time this day. But it's not Maddison who woke her up now but rather the repeated sound of the doorbell.
She groaned. Turning her body to face the ceiling of her room while her left hand was on her forehead, eyes still close . "Not again." She complained.
The doorbell stop so she didn't move. Thinking the person outside was gone away. But after a few seconds, it ring the doorbell again.
"Oh come on." She complained again but she still opened her eyes and sat up slowly. She tried to take away the sleepiness before she get off her bed. And she fixes her hair while she walks outside her room.
"Coming!" She shouted while stepping down the stairs. But it looks like the person behind the door didn't heard her because it kept ringing the bell.
When Skye reached the door, she opened it with an annoyance flastered on her face.
"Hi." Greeted by a brunette girl that was standing outside. Skye's annoyance was somehow gone when she remembered the girl in front of her. She's the lollipop girl she saw on Levi's neighborhood when they met his family. She's with the group of teenager who stared at her like she have done something wrong.
In this close proximity, the girl is shorter than her. Maybe just two inches. She is also tan but a little lighter than Levi's. Her hair is braided in two and she is wearing a gray tank top and a denim shorts. And in her hands was a round thing that was wrapped in a foil.
"Your name is Skye right?" The girl asked her with a bright smile. And Skye just nodded at her.
"I'm Piper, Levi's friend. I assumed you remember my face?" the girl said.
Skye sighed and replied. "Yeah. I saw you when we came by to their house. "
"Excellent." The girl said still wearing her bright smile. "By the way, I'm here to deliver this to you." She added and handed out the thing she was holding to Skye. And the latter carefully took it, while curiously staring at it also.
"It's an apple pie." Piper answered her unspoken question. "Martha's specialty. She made some every Thursday and gave it for free to the pack's friends- I mean their family's friends. Her friends specifically - Or whatever. I'm just blabbing." She snorted and laughed at herself.
Skye just look at her with creased on her forehead while still holding the pie on her hands.
"She wanted to give one for you. So we brought you one. It's delicious, I swear. You will definitely love it." Piper said a liitle over energetic. Her smile was still etched on her face.
"Thank you." Skye muttered.
"You're welcome." Piper replied. "Ahm. Would you mind if I stay inside for a while? Cause my friends were currently delivering some of it to the neighborhood. They didn't wait for me and just left me here because you took so long to open the door." she added and giggled. "Which I don't mind, actually. I'm just gonna wait here till they'll come back. Or if you don't want. It's okay. I'm just gonna wait here outside."
"No. You can wait inside." Skye quickly replied. She opened the wider for her. And wait for her to enter the house.
"Really? okay." Piper giddily said before entering their house. "Woah." she said when she was inside. Looking around."Nice house you have here. Simple yet cozy. "
"Thanks." Skye simply replied. "It's all Maddison. She's exceptionally well-organized." she added before she walk towards the kitchen, leaving the Piper who wanders around.
She opened the fridge and put the Apple pie inside. She'll wait for Maddie to get home before she taste some of it. Besides, she doesn't have an appetite yet. She just wanted to go back to sleep.
"Oh. What's this ?" Skye was a little shocked just as she was closing the fridge and turned to see Piper. She didn't heard the girl following her.
Piper was referring to the sandwiches that was on the center of the table. Maddie left it there for her to eat when she left this morning.
"It's a tuna sandwich. Maddison made it." Skye replied and just stood there for a while.
"Really? Can i have one ?" Piper asked nicely.
"Go ahead."
"Thanks." Piper said and then she grab one and took a bite on it. "Mmmm. Wow, this is yummy." Piper said with satisfaction and Skye just nodded, agreeing with her. "I bet this is her favorite." she added referring to Maddison.
"Quite the contrary actually." Skye replied while crossing her arms and leaned on the fridge door. She wanted so badly to go back to sleep but it seems rude if she left the girl here downstairs. "She hates tuna. I'm the one who's fond of it. She just made it for me."
"Oh how sweet of her." Piper muttered while eating. "You're lucky you have a sister like her."
"Yeah." Skye replied looking at particularly nothing. She's indeed lucky to have Maddie as her sister.
"So. When are you leaving?" Piper suddenly asked. And she is already sitting on the top of the table, facing her side.
Skye was a little stunned to what the girl said. How did she knew that they were leaving. Surely Maddie and Levi wouldn't talk about to them..
"Don't get mad at me. I just overheard it from Levi's parents. " Piper said, nonchalantly.
Skye was silent for a while but decided to tell her. "Maybe tomorrow or the next day. It's up for Maddie now."
"Mmm . Okay." Piper replied, and took the last bite of the sandwich. Skye just looked at the girl while she is looking around the kitchen. Don't have anything to say.
"Excuse me if I may be blunt but don't you think you're being selfish." The brunette suddenly said. Breaking the silence.
Skye's blank look turns into a frown. But she didn't reply or said anything to her. She can tell she had something to say more.
"I know you can see how they were deeply in love with each other. And they obviously wanted to live here for the rest of their lives. Don't you think you're being selfish to let Maddie leave this town with you?" The girl said in a serious tone, staring at her and waiting for her to talk.
"It's Maddie's choice." She replied. "I didn't forced her anymore."
"But she did it because that's what you wanted, right.? So it was still you."
Skye go silenced when Piper said those words. She have a point. She was being selfish. But she was just thinking about their safety.
Skye didn't know what to say and just stared at the floor .
"She looks so happy here." the girl continued."But you letting her leave just because you saw a wolf."
Skye uncrossed her arms and quickly looked up at Piper when she heard what she said.
"How did you know?" she asked her curiously. She thought the authorities were keeping that information a secret for the people. And Levi surely wouldn't tell her too.
The girl turned to face her and smiled. "I just overheard." she said, nonchalant.
"You believe it?" Skye asked her. Not caring if where the girl overheard it. She just wanted to know if she is really believes about it.
"Of course." Piper replied and laugh a little at her.
"And you're not even scared ?" Skye was puzzled. The girl knew about it and believed it even but she seems not even scared.
"Why would I? It was already dead." Piper replied. She's casually saying like it's nothing.
"But are you not afraid if there's another one like it? They hunt in packs, right?"
"Yeah you're right." Piper said."But in this town, we trust the authorities, Skye, especially Sheriff Fisher. I know you wouldn't believe but we trust our lives to them. They know what they're doing Skye. And they will do anything to keep the people of this town safe. You can trust them too. " she added in a serious tone again. Looking intently at her.
"I know we just met but I can asked you a favor?" the girl added, asking her.
Skye slowly nodded.
"Can you reconsider and think about leaving again?" she said and it picked the attention of Skye.
"You know, Levi's a good friend of ours and he's a great guy. We wouldn't want him to get hurt or feel sad. Yeah he would surely go anywhere with your sister but this is his hometown and his family were here." The Brunette said before she got down on the table. But still facing her. "I think you should care about your sister too. She really looks happy here. You know, you shouldn't be worried about her safety if that's what is bothering you. She had Levi, he love her so much. I know he wouldn't let anything happen to her. And she have us also."
Skye was just intently listening at her. She had nothing to say. She don't know what say.
"And Maddison felt safe here too. Maybe you can consider that a reason to think about it again." Piper said.
Both of their attention was turned when they heard a honk outside.
"That's my ride." Piper said turning towards the door.
"Thank you." She added , smiling at her. Before she got out of the kitchen and to their house. Leaving the silent Skye.
