One moment, he was eerily close to me, his body heat radiating off in waves and the next, he vanished with the wind, leaving me in cold shivers as I turned around in search of him. He was nowhere to be found. I clutched my dagger tighter, waiting for him to materialize out of thin air to attack me but he was really gone—gone with the wind. Stumbling towards my second dagger that lay on the floor meters away from me, I crouched and picked it up before sheathing them both up. There was no sign of him. Not even in the darkness that encroached everywhere, not in the wind that billowed softly, not even in the leaves that rustled with the wind.
