Chapter 31. Back home

OK guys, remember I won't be posting this weekend. I'm going to be busy building my home. I have half the bathroom and kitchen done, but I promise I'll be picking it back up on Monday.

Brie’s P.O.V

I heard a lot of beeping noises coming from all around me and I knew that I was back, but my heart was racing as I tried to open my eyes. I felt a hand on my arm and then I felt the sparks, letting me know that it was my mate, Depp, touching me. He must have known or sensed that I was waking up and he was right. I blinked a few times and then heard a deafening noise as Depp shouted for the doctor to close the blinds that were currently blinding me. I heard footsteps pounding on the floor as they hurried into the room and then I heard as the blinds were closed, so I opened my eyes and the first person that I saw was my mate. His eyes were bright and he was smiling, but he still had a worried look on his face and he looked so tired.

“Honey, honey, hold on, you’re only just waking up, so just lay back and give yourself time to rest a bit. Your body needs to gain its strength before you do anything, my love.” Depp said, trying to stop me from sitting up in bed. I sighed, laying back down and didn’t realise just how right he was because just that tiny movement had me exhausted. Depp propped a pillow up behind me and I slowly sat with my back against it so that I could see everything that was going on around me.

“How long have I been out like this?” I asked, but then he gave me another worried look. It only felt like a day, maybe two at the most, but no more than that, so why was he worried?

“You’ve been out for the past three months, but I never gave up on you. A few pack members came to see you, but I wouldn’t let any of them near you. Only Doctor Glaser, myself, a nurse and another pack member have been near you. If anyone else came near you I would have ripped their heads off, especially if any of them dared to touch you.” Depp replied, but all I could do was nod in shock. Three months? Really? I knew which pack member he was talking about and I knew that if she was left alone with me I wouldn’t be here now because she would have poisoned me.

“Brie, can you still feel all of them inside you?” Doctor Glaser asked and I thought about it for a few seconds before just deciding to ask them.

“Hey guys, are you still there? I’m sorry I was out for a while, but I’m back now.” I said, trying to talk to all of them. I waited for a few minutes and then they all started talking to me at once, but I couldn’t understand a word they were saying.

“Hey, hey, one at a time, guys, but thanks for letting me know that you’re still here with me.” I replied, stopping them from talking. I had to block them out because they tried talking to me all at once again and then looked back at the doctor.

“Yeah, you could say they are still here, but they are all talking at once and I can’t understand a single word they are saying.” I replied and they all started laughing. Doctor Glaser checked me over from head to toe, even taking new x-rays and blood samples from me to see how I was doing now that I had shifted, then he left. Depp and I talked for a while and he told me what each of my creatures looked like, which had me fascinated and I couldn’t wait to meet and see each of them in all their glory. Doctor Glaser came back in with some paperwork and my results from the x-rays and blood tests, but thankfully everything was fine.

“You are free to go home whenever you are ready and have clothes, but I need you to sign this paperwork so that I can discharge you.” Doctor Glaser said and I nodded, as Depp left to get me some clothes. I had just finished signing the paperwork when Depp hurried back into the room with my clothes. I had no idea how he managed to get them so fast, maybe he mind-linked someone to bring them when I woke up. I was still so weak from being asleep for so long that Depp had to help me get dressed and then we left the hospital and headed home. On the drive home I wanted so much to tell him what happened and what the Moon Goddess had shown me, but I didn’t know how he was going to react so I decided to wait until we were up in our bedroom.

“How did you get my clothes so fast? You were only gone for a few minutes, if that.” I asked and he softly chuckled.

“My dear mate, I have had your clothes in my car since the day you ended up in the hospital. I knew that you were going to wake up and that it was just a matter of time, but I didn’t want to leave your side, so when Johnny was due to bring me some paperwork, I asked him to bring me some of your clothes as well. Not once did I ever doubt that you would wake up and come back to me.” Depp replied and I could only smile because I knew that he was telling the truth. The Moon Goddess had shown me what was happening when I was asleep, that he was sitting by my bedside, talking and pleading for me to wake up, but I could also tell by how tired he looked. When we finally made it home I was shocked at how fast we were suddenly surrounded by the whole kingdom. They all wanted to make sure that I was okay and to let me know how happy they were that I was finally awake, but then I saw Mona start to walk up to me with a wide grin on her face. I growled quietly enough so that only she could hear me and she stopped dead in her tracks, bowing to me.

“My queen, I am so happy that you’re finally awake.” Mona said and then quickly hurried away from me like a scared little rabbit. I smirked at the thought of her being scared of me, but when I looked up I saw Depp giving me a funny look. s**t, did he hear me growl at her too? He didn’t say anything as we talked to everyone around us and then finally went up to our room, but when we got inside he shut and locked the door.

“Why the hell did you growl at Mona? She was the pack member that kept coming to see you and always asked how you were or if there was anything she could do to help.” Depp asked, standing in front of me and crossing his arms over his chest.

“Yeah, I can trust her as far as I can throw her, which isn’t very far.” I replied and he had a look of concern on his face.

“Alright Brie, spit it out. What the hell is going on in that beautiful head of yours?” Depp asked and I shook my head once more. Should I tell him what happened or should I just deal with it on my own? I took a deep breath as I looked up at him and made my decision.

“You might think that I’m out of my mind or that I’ve gone completely crazy, but please just hear me out. This is going to take a while to explain, so we might as well sit down.” I replied and he laughed as he took the chair from the left corner of the room and sat down in front of the bed, where I was sitting.

“Alright Brie, tell me about this crazy thing you are going to explain to me.” Depp said, laughing slightly. I began to tell him everything that happened while I was asleep, but when I told him that I didn’t want to wake up because I was so exhausted, the look on his face told me that I had to change the subject fast.

“I suddenly found myself back in my old bedroom in my old pack. I called out for my mother and father, searching for them, but there was no one there and then I was back in the hospital room. I could see you sitting by my bed, pleading for me to wake up and come back to you, but I couldn’t answer you and then I found myself in a field of flowers and animals. It was so peaceful and beautiful there, but it was also really strange. A woman appeared to me and introduced herself as the Moon Goddess, which I didn’t believe at first until she showed me the future. She showed me what would happen if I didn’t wake up and how you would be. You were in your office grieving for me at first, but then I was in the throne room and you were sitting on the throne with another woman by your side. I was happy that you had found your second chance mate, but then I saw that it was Mona and heard you say that you only made her queen because of pack business, that you didn’t want her. After that the Moon Goddess and I followed her to her room, where she met with another woman, called Tabby and then a man, who I didn’t recognise. She admitted that she poisoned my IV while I was sleeping and then they came up with a plan. He was going to challenge you for the throne and she said that she was going to poison you to make you weak, so that when he challenged you he could kill you easily. They heard you coming and the man quickly left through the window, but when you came into the room you were seething. You told her that you knew she had killed me and that she would never be queen, that you hadn’t even mated, but as you turned to leave she stabbed you in the arm with a pair of scissors. You broke her arm and then the guards came and grabbed her, but the poison she had coated the scissors with had already made its way into your bloodstream. You dropped to the ground and I knew right there and then that I needed to come home to you. We are mates, my king and I will never leave your side again.” I said, explaining everything to him, but just as I finished he let out the loudest, meanest growl I had ever heard him do. He stood up from the chair, storming towards the door and I knew right away what he was going to do, so I ran toward him and stopped him.

“Depp no, don’t do this. This was all in the future and the future has changed now because I woke up. I’m back, so don’t worry about her. Yes, she still might meet that man or he might just come and challenge you on his own, but we’ll have to wait for that. Let me handle her. She is the one that poisoned me, that tried to kill me in the future, but it was only once I was gone that she made her move on you.” I said and he nodded, but I could still see that he was furious.

“Fine, I won’t kill her, but it doesn’t mean that I have to like it. You’re home now and that’s all I care about, but we will watch Mona closely and I am not letting her anywhere near you.” Depp replied, sitting back down.

“Oh yes you are, you will let me near her so that I can befriend the crazy b***h and find out what is going on inside her head. I can use my vampire side to compel her and find out just what is in the evil little head of hers.” I said, making him sigh.

“Fine, but if she tries anything to hurt you or even touches a hair on your head, then I won’t think twice about snapping her neck and ripping it off her shoulders.” Depp replied and I quickly nodded.

“Okay, my big bad lycan king, calm down or the whole kingdom will feel your anger.” I said, sitting on his lap.

“Alright, alright, fine, you win, but I still don’t have to like it.” Depp replied and I started laughing. I kissed his cheek and I knew that I had finally made him see that I was right.

“You will be just fine, just let me do this my way and I promise that everything will work out.” I said and he nodded, then kissed me.

“Alright fine, the countdown starts now, so you had better get going before I tie you to the bed.” Depp said and I chuckled as I got off his lap. I kissed his cheek and walked out the door, going to find my soon to be new friend.
