Act 1. Scene 2.

(Mama Yemisi and her children are in the sitting room discussing)

Mama Yemisi:

My children, in this world, people prefer male child than female child. They believe female child is meant for the kitchen. They don't know that female children are so entitled to good education and have a high place in the society. So I want you to prove them wrong my children, I want you to let them know that females can also be great in life, and you can achieve this be facing your studies. You must let them know that what a man can do, a woman can do better and that this is also a woman's world.

Yemisi:

Mama, why are you talking like this? Surely Daddy is not one of the men who believe it is a man's world.

Mama Yemisi:

Don't be too sure of that my daughter.

Iyabo:

Mama, what does that mean?

Ayo:

Please Mama, tell us what is going on.

Mama Yemisi:

Your father will bring in a new wife on Friday. He and his mother have been accusing me of not giving birth to a male child.

Yemisi, Iyabo and Ayo:

What!!

Mama Yemisi:

Yes

Yemisi:

Does he mean that we can't achieve great things in life because we are girls? Does he mean we are useless?

Iyabo:

I think he does, that is why he wants to marry another wife.

Ayo:

We must Prove him wrong. We must study hard to become great in life. We must let him know that we are not a failure but a success and we are born to win and succeed.

Yemisi:

Yes. that's what we will do.

Iyabo:

Mama, please cheer up and relax. We will study hard and be great in life. We will make you proud and take care of you.

Mama Yemisi:

Thank you my children, am glad that you promised me to study hard and be successful. One important thing that I want you to know is that, it pays to work hard for what you want rather than engaging in illegal things just because you want to make money. Now, promise me you won't engage in any illegal or immoral activity as you struggle to make it to the top.

Yemisi, Iyabo and Ayo:
