“Mehn I have been looking all over for you,” John said to Davis. “What are you discussing with Dr. Frank?” John asked Davis as he fixed his eyes on Dr. Frank. “Nothing serious,” Davis replied. “We need to leave,” Davis added.
As Davis and John were walking to the lecture hall, they walked into Jessica, “Prof Liu is dead,” Jessica said to Davis. “Who told you that?” Davis asked. “The news is everywhere,” Jessica replied. Davis immediately dragged Jessica to a corner and whispered to her, “I spoke with Dr. Frank not long enough and he is still serious with his threat.”
“Something is not right here,” John said as he walked up to Davis and Jessica to the corner. “What are you guys hiding?” John asked as he looks at them consistently. After some seconds of not hearing a word from them, he said to them, “If you guys don’t fill me in I will find out myself,” John said and was about walking out; Jessica calls out for him, “Wait!” Jessica said.
“What are you doing?” Davis asked Jessica. “We can’t bear the truth alone,” Jessica replied. “We need to let him in,” Jessica added. “You called me to fill me in,” said John as he leans on the wall. “I am all ears. Start talking,” John added. Jessica looks at Davis and then turned and faces John and began to speak.
After explaining to John what happened last night they pleaded with him not to let anyone know: “I know something was up,” John said in a loud voice. “Shhh,” Davis and Jessica asked him to lower his tone. “Don’t shhh me,” John replied. “We need to be prepared for the worst,” John added. “Be prepared for what?” Davis asked. “Don’t you get it mehn?” John replied. “If this is not curtailed now it will spread all over the world,” John narrated.
“You are just exaggerating dude,” Davis replied. “I don’t think he is,” Jessica said as she looks at Davis. “I think we need to be prepared for the worst,” Jessica added. “Nothing is happening alright,” said Davis as he focuses on Jessica. “The police are handling this,” Davis added. “This is beyond the police mehn,” John said. “Just don’t get infected,” John added.
Later in the day the New University of China’s president, Dr. Yiu summoned the entire student. After the students have been summoned, the president of the University announced the sudden demised of Prof Liu. “He will be buried tomorrow and according to the custom of the school, we will be buried by the school,” Dr. Yiu narrated. “Let us pay him the last respect with a minute of silence,” Dr. Yiu said as all the students bowed to pay their last respect to Prof Liu.
The next day by noon, the Academic staff of the New University of China accompanied by the family of Prof. Liu all proceeded to the cemetery to bury their deceased. John who was curious about confirming the rumors he heard two days ago and the one Jessica and Davis told him began to enquire from Davis, “Are there not more than three of you at the staff quarters the other night?” John asked. “What about that?” Davis asked. “I was wondering why Prof Yiu only announced the death of Prof Liu,” John replied. “This does not add up,” John added.
“Maybe the rest survived and are well,” Davis replied. “I don’t think that is what happened,” John said. “We need to talk to Dr. Frank,” John added. “Dude!” Davis said out aloud. “Have you forgetting his threat to us?” Davis asked John as he looks at him expecting a reaction.
John looked around to see if Davis was talking to someone else but him, “I don’t see anyone else here but the two of us,” John said. “What are you talking about dude?” Davis asked. “You said Dr. Frank threatened us; I was not even there so why us?” John replied. “If this goes sideways dude you have to have my back,” Davis said looking at John. “Mehn, I don’t know how big this s**t is. But you and Jessica need to talk to the police,” John suggested. “You will do no such thing!” Davis said as he looks around.
At the cemetery, after the prayers have been said for Prof Liu to be put to the ground the coffin made a sound that draws the attention of the people especially that of the priest who stood near the coffin. The people stopped what they were doing and paid close attention to the coffin.
The coffin also made another sound and shifted; everyone became scared and curious since Prof Liu was confirmed dead. The wife of Prof Liu who was deeply hurt by the sudden demise of his husband approached the coffin and was about to open it, Dr. Frank held her by the hand and said, “I wouldn’t do that.” “Let go of me Doc,” Prof Liu’s wife said. “My husband lies in there helpless,” Prof Liu’s wife said as she sobs.
Dr. Frank seeing this was drawing the attention of the people let go of Prof Liu’s wife and she proceed to the coffin. She quietly opened the coffin and immediately Prof Liu held her by her hair, as he groans with spit coming out of his mouth. The people who were at the cemetery were wondering what was happening but no one was bold to check it out.
Meanwhile, Dr. Frank has begun to take some steps backward as he has already known what the outcome will be. At this time Prof Liu’s wife began to cry for help but before the priest could assist her, Prof Liu bites her wife’s neck. She cried out in pain and immediately the priest pulled her out. The priest seeing blood gushing out from Prof Liu’s wife's neck threw up and ran to a corner to vomit.
Prof Liu who has been infected started dragging his body out from the coffin with moaning; the people who came for the funeral began to run helter-skelter. Prof Liu’s wife lay down at the cemetery helpless. Prof Liu who has turned into a dead walker made his way to his wife and began to feed on her.
