Nick’s POV
At the back of my mind, I knew there was a chance somewhere at the back of my mind that what Nina was saying was the truth. I was not dumb. Hailey hadn’t thought her story through. There were clear loopholes in her story that I knew was false. Nina wasn’t trying to attack her. She held her down, even in her powerful state to wait for someone to intervene in the fight. I liked her for that.
I felt bad when I sent her to her room yesterday. The look on her face made my chest clench. I didn’t like treating her that way but I didn’t have a choice. If I kept her around, then Hailey might do something bad to her and I didn’t want that. Apart from her being the main part of my plan, I actually started to care about her. She was a good soul, unlike her father.
