Dad

"ARE YOU f*****g KIDDING ME!" All eyes turn toward me for my loud outburst in the cemetery. "Kylie! Bite your tongue," My so-called mother exclaims. Unable to control myself, I walk right up to her, and the slap she receives echoes around us all. Liam, Brandon, and Cameron are suddenly by my side and walking me away from that b***h. Does she seriously have zero respect for my father? To place her shitty husband right next to the only man who truly loved me and her? "Let me at her!" I look around, then quickly remember it's my wolf talking to me in my head. "Come on, she's not worth it," Liam says softly. His hand on mine instantly calms me a bit. Taking a deep breath, I look at him. "You're right. So, do you guys want to grab a burger or something? I'm starving and Richard's death calls for a celebration." The three men agree and the brothers offer to fire up the grill at their house. Lucy calls them and says she will meet us there shortly. "So, you guys actually closed the bakery today for that asshole's funeral?" I can't help the irritation in my voice, but anything related to Richard makes me angry. "f**k no. We closed the bakery today to be with YOU, not him." I smile at Cameron's words and let out a laugh when Liam shoots him daggers from wrapping an arm around my shoulder. "Really? Come on man, you know I'm not trying to steal your mate." "Just you wait until you find yours. Then tell me how seeing another man put an arm around her feels." "Or him," Brandon chimes in. This is the first time I ever heard him crack a joke about his brother and I'm left speechless. Cameron shoves Brandon roughly and they both start tackling each other. Liam simply rolls his eyes and grabs my hand. "They'll catch up," he tells me. Opening his car door, I take my seat inside. It doesn't take long before we arrive at a beautiful farmhouse. As we walk up the driveway, the brothers pull in and honk the horn at us. We wait for them to park and follow them to the backyard. "Wow! This place is quite charming." The brothers thank me with a smile on their faces. "Wait until you see the inside," Cameron exclaims excitedly. They give me a grand tour and I can't put into words how rustic and beautiful this home is. It looks like something pulled from a magazine. Heading back outside, we see Lucy is home and already lighting the grill. She comes over and gives me a tight hug. "What happened after I left?" I ask her, though I'm not sure I want to hear whatever bullshit lie my mom told the guests. "Well, let's just say Richard will be relocated to the other side of the cemetery." My jaw falls open with the news Lucy just enlightened me with. "Are..are you serious?" I ask with tears starting to blur my vision. She hugs me again and wipes my tears away. "Yes, sweetheart. I took care of everything." I tighten the hug as much as possible and thank her over and over again. "Thanks, mom." I hear Brandon say softly to Lucy. The rest of the afternoon is spent with burgers, steaks, and plenty of water. I haven't felt at this peace in a long time. Being surrounded by people who truly care about me and are real friends is refreshing. As for Liam, I am falling for this man quickly. In the middle of a conversation, Cameron playfully shoves me and I fall right into their pool. However, it's deep and I can't swim. I know someone will get me, but that doesn't stop the darkness from consuming me and anxiety causing me to pass out. "Kylie! Kylie, open your eyes!" I hear my dad's voice and instantly open my eyes. When I look around though, nobody is here. I'm in my bedroom, but it looks different. It's decorated exactly as it was when I was a young girl.
