Chapter : 6. The guy named Noah..

2294 Words
After having a fight with my husband Jasper, I hid myself in the bathroom and fell asleep in there. In my dream I was again in a place where I have never one and feeling pain which I never experienced. I was so scared of that dream that I screamed out for someone’s help. Thankfully, Jasper was in the bedroom at that time and heard my screams. His call was the one that brought me back into the reality, and I was saved. That dream still horrified me and I wanted to hug my husband to calm myself. So when he called me out, I went to open the door to go to him happily. But right at that time, I remember the last night’s event and stopped myself from going out. I couldn’t decide whether or not, it’s safe to go out. “Zoey, please come out now. I really want to make sure you are alright before I leave this city. Or else I would be worried all the time.” I heard his worried voice. By the way he was calling for me, I realized that he has already forgotten his anger, and now he is worried about my safety. I knew he would be back into his normal self once his anger is gone. But still, I was a little hesitant to go to him when I’m still completely naked after what I experienced last night. So, I looked around to find something to wrap myself up before I go out. I only found a towel kept on the bathroom shelf and thought to wrap it around myself. Once I was done, I finally opened the door and got out. As soon as I was out, I was taken in a warm embrace by my husband, and the scent of his antique perfume filled my nose, making me calm down. “Thank you for trusting in me. I’m sorry for loosing control of myself yesterday. I promise that it won’t happen again.” He said, while patting the back of my head. “It’s okay. You’re my husband, and I made the promise to keep loving you no matter what situation we are in. It’s my only request to you that never scare me like this again. I’m already too broken to handle more.” I told him, breaking the hug with him. “I promise I won’t.” He gave me a small kiss on the lips. A smile came onto my lips from this sudden affection. Last night’s events are long forgotten by both of us by now. Looking up at him, I saw that he was all prepared to go out for his another business trip. Again it made me sad by thinking that I’m not going to be able to see him for a next few days. “You’re already leaving? For how long this time?” I asked him while fixing his tie for him. “It’s going to take more than three days this time. But five at max. One day absent caused me a lot, you know. I will try my best to come soon.” His words made me realize my mistake again. “I’m sorry for yesterday. It was all my fault. You can take as long as you want. I will be fine with it.” I told him with a small fake smile. “Forget about yesterday. It was just a misunderstanding. Take care of yourself and call me if you need anything. Okay?” I nod to him in reply. He gave me one last kiss and got out to go to his next destination. Checking the time, I realized that I was late for my own work. So, I started hurrying to get ready. After finishing my morning business and taking a warm shower, I went to get myself ready. As soon as I checked my reflection on the vanity mirror, I gasped out in shock. My eyes were all red, one side of my cheek is all red and swollen, a black spot has taken place under my eye and all of it due to the hit I got last night. “Oh god! I can’t go out in public with this face. I have to hide it somehow.” Bringing all the makeup supplies I own in front, I started applying them one by one to hide all those marks. It is still stinging a bit whenever I touch those places, but I need to hide them from my workers. I can’t let them know about the private problems their bosses are facing. After spending an hour only on my makeup, I succeeded in completely hiding it. Wearing the nearest dress I found, I got out of my office. It was too late for me to cook something or eat. So again, I had to leave for work with an empty stomach. Sitting in the backseat of my car, my stomach kept growling in hunger. I haven’t eaten anything since the last breakfast I had yesterday. Jasper doesn’t allow me to drive a car because he’s afraid that I will have an accident. That’s why I never got the chance to learn to drive In the first place. He kept a driver for me who not only works to take me where I want but also informs about my visiting places to my dear overprotective husband. Today was also one of those days when he came to take me to the office, like always. “Do you want me to stop in front of a café, madam?” The driver named Carlos, asked making me startled. “You can hear it from over there? Ugh… I can’t. I’m already late for work.” I said, slumping back in my seat. I can't believe that he can also hear my stomach’s growl from at least six feet far. “You are the CEO of the JKF company. The biggest company in Miami. I think you are allowed to be late, madam. If you want, I can bring something for you quickly, and you can finish it before reaching office. I have a friend in one of the café of this area who can help.” He told me and I can see the smirk of his lips in the rear-view mirror. “You will do that for me? Thank you so much. That would be great.” I said with a cheerful manner. I’m happy that finally I can have some food. “It’s my pleasure to serve you, madam.” He replied with a smile and a nod. In the next moment, he stopped the car in front of café and quickly got out of the car to go there. I kept waiting in hope to have some food as my grumbles started getting louder and louder. In just five minutes, Carlos came back with a paper bag in hand and gave it to me before getting in the car. “That was quick. Let’s see what you brought.” Opening the bag, I found two sandwiches and a cup of coffee, which is perfect for my morning breakfast. “Thank you so much. This is what I needed.” I thanked him and started eating immediately, without waiting for anything. “You’re welcome.” He laughed out loud, when he saw that my mouth was already too filled to speak, in the mirror. I felt a little ashamed of my action but chose to eat more to avoid it. The five minutes’ delay cost me more than half an hour to reach to the office because unfortunately we got stuck in the traffic today. I felt like I was a school student who was late for class and hurried to get in. As I was rushing inside, suddenly my vision started getting blurry. The office surrounding I was in, changed into a school like place. The workers that was supposed to be in the surrounding, changed into high school students with books and bags. I started feeling uncomfortable and scared. Tugging my head in and wrapping my arms around, I kept following the students in the hallway. But all of a sudden I bumped into someone and moved a step back. “Watch where you’re going, you nerd. Or do you want me to open your eyes for you?” “I’m sorry Cristy. I didn’t see you there.” “Madam… Madam… Are you alright? What happened to you?” A sudden shake broke my daze and cleared my vision. Looking around, I saw that I was in my company, not in any school. And the person I bumped into is none other than my secretary, Mike. It turned out that seeing me coming, he was approaching me to greet me good morning. I was the one who bumped into him while he was just standing there. Actually, I never saw him standing there, for which this incident happened. I was somewhere far away in my daydream. “Madam, are you okay? You just called me Cristy?” ‘Cristy’? Who is this Cristy? I never met or heard about anyone with that name. Then why did that name come into my mouth all of a sudden? Is it related to the girl I see in my dreams? Am I having another vision from that girl’s life? At that moment I remembered that I forgot to take my medicines in the hurry. And as an effect, I’m having daydreams again. “I need my medicines right now. Can you please take me to my cabin?” I asked him to help me to get to my chamber safely because I don’t know what I will do if the next vision hits me. “Of course, madam. Come with me.” Like a nice gentleman, Mike took me to my cabin and gave me water to take the medicines. I always keep another set of my medicines in my bag, just in case of emergencies. After I took all medicines I was supposed to take in the morning, I took a breath of relief. Closing my eyes, I sat back in my chair and tried to calm myself. “Are you okay now, madam? You made me sacred.” Mike asked who war actually really worried about me. “Yes. I’m better now. Thank you for the help. I’m really grateful that you are here when I needed someone trusted.” I told him, and it brought a smile to his face. “It’s my pleasure, madam. Do you need something else?” He said pushing his glasses back, closer to his eyes. With that question I remembered the topic about last night. I thought that he is the only one who can help me with it without letting Jasper know. “Yes. There’s something I really need your help with. I need information about a person. There’s a guy named Noah James Parker. He also a businessman. I need a complete information about him and his companies. Can you do that for me?” I asked him, and he smiled at me after hearing it. “That would be the easiest task I have ever done. His information file will be on your desk in one hour.” He said, feeling proud of his technical abilities. He is a master in things like this. “Thank you for the help. And please make sure that Jasper doesn’t find out about it.” “Think of it as done. Is there anything else I can do for you, your highness?” He asked me, bowing down dramatically. “That would be all my setter. You are dismissed.” I also replied to him like an ancient queen, and he left the room bowing down several times with each step, making me laugh out loud. He really lighted up my mood and helped me forgot my worries in a minute. After he was gone, I started my daily work and forgot the matter I gave Mike the responsibility of. But he didn’t forget it at all. And as he promised, exactly an hour later he came into my room with a blue-coloured file in his hand. “Here’s the job you gave me. I told you, it’s the easiest work I have ever done. Most of the wolds business peoples know the name Noah. It’s a wonder how a talented businesswoman like you never heard of his name yet. Well, here are the information I could get my hands on about that guy. Enjoy.” Saying this, he gave me the file and left my cabin without waiting for an answer. Holding the file in my hand, I kept staring at the blue cover of it. For some unknown reason, I was getting nervous about opening the file. I don’t know why, but I felt like this one file holds the power to shake my universe. I couldn’t decide if I should open the file and reveal the identity of the guy named Noah? Or should I let it stay a mystery forever?
