Chapter 9 : Into the Fairy Kingdom!

1051 Words
Raven learnt her lesson. There were many versions of a story told by many people. Something wasn't necessarily true just because it was told by someone. By lunch time Raven had learnt quiet a lot about the supernatural world. It was an intricately designed hierarchy which was head spinning, but when explained by someone who was familiar with it, it was easier to understand. Morgan dumbed it down by a lot for Raven to understand. Every kingdom had their own system in which they operate. For example, the werewolf kingdom was ruled by Lycan ruler because they were the strongest. The werewolf kingdom had to have the strongest because of the characteristics of the citizens. However, the Vampires don't need to be the strongest. They are peaceful in their territory it doesn't matter if the ruler is the strongest among them. Fairies were peculiar in their rule. Their ruler tend to change every hundred years and unlike the werewolf and Vampire kingdoms, the succession doesn't necessarily fall into the hands of next in line of the family. They follow a democratic system that allows the people of th kingdom to choose their ruler. Raven was fascinated by these little details. There was something different about all the kingdoms and they followed a practical way of living. They functioned as needed. Whereas humans mostly followed a certain way of living, whether it suited them or not. The more Raven learnt about the other world, the more she compared it to the human world. She did not hesitate to admit that living wise, the supernatural world was way more developed than the humans. "We have to go shopping for you too. Let's go tomorrow okay? I will finish making the spell pouches for you by tonight." Morgan told her during lunch. They had ordered pizza to make it easy. Raven bit into her pizza. "I have enough clothes. I don't need any more aunt Morgan." Raven had brought her good clothes over. They were all comfortable and usually Raven wore them when she wanted to feel good about herself. But she was thinking from the perspective of a human. She was completely unaware of the fashion followed by those attending the Avencia Academy. Raven's costliest pair of jeans didn't compare to the clothes that those heirs wore on a daily basis. "You cannot wear those clothes to Avencia Academy. First of all, your clothes have human scent all over them and it will be very easy to sense it. Although you have a werewolf scent on you, your interactions with humans have supressed it by a lot. So it's barely there. Besides, the fashion that is followed there is slightly different. During school hours you have to wear the school uniform and while going out you will be allowed to wear your casuals." Raven absorbed the given information too. It was really tedious to shop for new clothes when she already had so many. But Morgan was also being considerate of the situation. It could be dangerous to wear those. It was necessary to buy new. Raven accompanied Morgan in making the spell pouches that evening. By the time the pouches were made, it was too late to make anything. They reheated the leftover pizza and called it a night. Raven was surprised at how cool Morgan was. Raven would rarely eat out because grandmother Cecilia didn't let her. Home-cooked food was the way to go. Under Morgan's watch she could have pizza twice on the same day, it was a revolutionary move. The very next day Morgan took Raven shopping as promised. Raven was excited to see what kind of clothes were worn on the other side. Was it very classy? Expensive? Or was it very royal? Considering that most of the students were either heirs of certain kingdoms or freakingly rich second generations, Raven thought they chewed on gold leaves on a daily basis. "Where are we going to shop? Won't the market clothes smell of humans too?" Raven asked Morgan when they left the house. Raven wheeled Morgan in the direction of the garage on Morgan's instructions. The garage was small and empty. Raven tilted her head, confused why they came here when there wasn't a car. "Who said we are going to shop at the local market?" Morgan chuckled, "Do have that spell pouch with you right?" Raven showed the pouch to Morgan and placed it back into her jacket. "Good. Now hold on tightly, we are going to the fairy kingdom in three, two, one .." Morgan lifted her hand and extend her fingers in a circle, she rotated her hand to the right and a portal opened in front of them. Raven's mouth dropped open. She couldn't pretend that this thing didn't affect her! The portal calmly sat on the wall of the garage. Like hundreds of clouds were churning inside. "Hold on!" Morgan said and made a pulling gesture towards the portal. Raven held the back of Morgan's wheelchair when they were sucked into the portal. Raven had never considered what it felt like being in a portal. It was very human of her to never think of travelling through inhuman ways. She had read Harry potter twice in her entire life. From that information, she thought that travelling magically sucked big time and she would never do it even if she had the chance. But Morgan's words came true once again. Portal travelling was as easy as it could get. Raven had closed her eyes tightly, waiting for the nausea to hit like a brick. But it never came. She was standing in one place, eyes closed, feeling light and darkness flashing over her eyelids. When Raven opened her eyes again, she was in the middle of a busy street. Morgan looked sideways at her, "This is the fairy kingdom. They are the best when it comes to fashion and luxury items. We are at their best market called Welium." Raven barely heard what Morgan said. She was too busy staring at the endless line of stores on both sides, the impressively dressed men and women. The sun above them was emitting soft rays, just warm enough to make her feel lighter. Soft breeze lifted up her black hair and made it dance along. ---------------------------------
