*** “What do you make of her note?” Richard handed his wife’s sheet of stationery to Chalmers, his estate manager. “Looks like her handwriting, and she is impulsive.” Chalmers shrugged and handed the paper back to Richard. “She has never gone off alone like this, though. She usually takes Addy with her when she travels. Then, if she doesn’t find a suitable man to sleep with...” “She never spoke a word of this to me,” Addy said. Richard frowned. “This makes me feel just like the time Lissa was kidnapped. Chalmers, check with Farley in the stables. See if Lissa’s horse is still there. She wouldn’t take her horse to London.” “Yes, Sir Richard.” He turned and left. Addy lay a comforting hand on Richard’s arm. “Lissa is so trusting, she just doesn’t believe anyone would really harm her.”
