Alpha Chelsea turned to face the brunette.
"Alpha. Luna Janice." Alpha Chelsea reminded the woman in front of her. "It's Alpha Chelsea," she growled. It would have made a regular werewolf flinch, but Janice was of Alpha blood herself.
"Well, let's see what happens after you find a mate and he happens to be an Alpha like you. I would love to see how that would play out," Luna Janice smirked.
"What do you mean?"
"You know Alpha's don't like competition, and no alpha would be willing to become your Luna, Alpha." Luna Janice added slyly.
Luna Janice was of alpha blood and once thought she would become the alpha of the neighboring Elipses pack. But her hopes became crushed after her parents had another child. A male.
All attention went back to the little future alpha and the best thing that could happen to her after that was to become the Luna of another pack. So she bitterly wished the same thing would happen to Alpha Chelsea.
"And how would you feel about the fact that I am not the first female Alpha and neither would I be the last?" Alpha Chelsea mocked. "Alpha Jennifer seems to be doing perfectly well with her pack and mate," she reminded Luna Janice.
"You mean that wimp?" Luna Janice snorted.
Alpha Jennifer's mate was ten years younger and because of that, whenever he tried to respect, obey and show his mate love, people saw him as a simp although he was anything but.
"Any more of a wimp than you are for standing there and watching a little kid take away what was yours?" Alpha Chelsea quirked an eyebrow and Luna Janice gasped, at a loss for words.
"Burn!" someone said behind Alpha Chelsea.
"Pardon?" she turned to see who it was and Luna Janice took that as her cue to leave, embarrassed. Thinking about what Alpha Chelsea just told her.
"I just love the way you roasted her right there." Alpha Cobain winked. Alpha Chelsea stared at the hot man in front of her. She had seen him countless times in magazines and social media and read some things about him. But standing in front of her right now, he looked hotter with his chiselled jaw, blonde hair and grey eyes.
He was perfect, and she wished more than anything he would be her mate. Even if it were to be chosen.
"Oh thanks," Alpha Chelsea flushed.
"Alpha Cobain." he extended his hand for a shake.
"I know," Alpha Chelsea blurted. Then her eyes widened when she realised that she had slipped.
"I mean, like I have seen your pictures before," she said, quickly regaining her composure. Not wanting to make a fool of herself in front of him.
"Care to share your name or would you mind if I called you Gorgeous?"
"Alpha Chelsea," she shook his hand.
"Good luck with the mate thing."
"You too," she replied and watched him leave to get a seat.
Alpha Chelsea finished three slices of pizza before going to greet some of the guests.
Most of them were very interested in her and wanted to be her mate, others were curious as to who would be mated to this strong female Alpha, while the others could care less, as they were only there to enjoy themselves and find a mate of their own.
"You look really tense," an Alpha came up to Alpha Chelsea as soon as she finished talking with Beta Reed and he left. Beta Reed had managed to make a good impression on himself.
"I know right," Alpha Chelsea chuckled to the man who had just talked to her.
"You know," the alpha winked. "I do have some techniques I could use to ease some of that tension," he said huskily, and in turn, Alpha Chelsea stared at him confused.
"Huh?"
"Yeah," the alpha smirked. "It's only a few minutes till the full moon shows up, and the Rod in Rodney isn't there for nothing. Now that could take you to the moon and back," he winked again, and Alpha Chelsea caught on.
"That is the weirdest and most disgusting thing to say to someone you just met," she sneered and his smirk fell.
He was counting on those lines to work so he could get a quickie.
"Uh, uh, bye!" he said awkwardly and left.
True to Alpha Rodney's words, it was a few minutes until the moon came out full.
Alpha Chelsea, from where she was standing, could see everyone getting excited, especially the waiters and waitresses who moved around in their uniform, which consisted of a white dress shirt, black tie and black pants for the males or black skirts for the females.
They were a combination of omegas, witches and regular werewolves and while some of them took on the job of waiting for today's party for the wages, most of them were there in the hope of finding a mate.
From the corner of her eyes, Alpha Chelsea could see Xander watching her with keen eyes.
Was he still hoping, after all this while, that they could still be mates? Alpha Chelsea wondered.
She looked up at the dark blue sky as the clouds opened up and the moon revealed itself in its full glory.
It was the time of the month when werewolves were blessed with mates.
"It is time!" a warrior beside Alpha Chelsea said with glee. He locked eyes with Alpha Chelsea, and upon realizing that she wasn't his mate, he stood up from his chair and started moving around in the hope of finding his mate.
Soon, you could hear people whispering the word 'mate' as they followed the scents that would lead them straight to them.
Alpha Chelsea scanned the crowd with her eyes searching for Alpha Cobain to find him also staring at her.
Alpha Cobain smiled at her and she smiled back in understanding.
They both couldn't feel any connection, so she knew that he wasn't her mate. Sadly.
Alpha Chelsea could feel her parents watching her expectantly. They were counting on today, so she closed her eyes and decided to follow the werewolf instinct.
She sniffed the air and what followed was the most beautiful scent she had ever smelt her entire life. No one needed to tell her that the scent would lead her to her mate. And soon, her feet started moving in that direction as the scent grew stronger.
Alpha Chelsea pushed through people to get to her mate and almost everyone's eyes followed her movements with curiosity.
Alpha Chelsea stopped in front of a brown-haired boy who stared back at her. Surprise was evident in his blue-green eyes.
He was the most handsome person Alpha Chelsea had ever laid her eyes on.
"Mate!" Alpha Chelsea and the boy said at the same time.
"Oh my!" Luna Carol gasped, as she and Alpha Connor were standing only a few feet away from them. "This can't be it,"
"Calm down my sweet," Alpha Connor tried to comfort his mate. A scowl appeared on his face.
"Wait! Skinny Pete is the Alpha's mate?"
A witch from the crowd whispered, and just then, Alpha Chelsea was pulled out of her trance as she stared at the skinny boy in front of her.
"Vegetable Pete? Really?" a werewolf whispered, but almost everyone could hear what was being whispered, since they were mostly werewolves with advanced hearing.
Alpha Chelsea got to know his name.
'Mate! Pete!' her wolf, Lisa, purred.
"Is he even of age," someone snickered.
Just then, Alpha Chelsea noticed how young her mate looked.
"Should have definitely taken me up on my offer," Alpha Rodney snickered.
"This is some sort of a joke, right?" someone else said, sounding shocked.
"He is an omega," another said with a grimace.
Alpha Chelsea felt the urge to defend her mate. He was looking at her with glossy eyes and she sensed how helpless he felt.
"Oh my, what would be of their pack now?" someone gasped, sounding pitiful.
Alpha Chelsea felt angry at the jests coming from all directions.
She clenched her fists tightly and tearing her eyes away from her mate, she looked up, ready to bring an end to everything.
But just as she looked up, she locked eyes with Luna Janice, who was snickering.
"A female for an Alpha and a minor Omega for a what? Alpha? Luna?" Luna Janice said just loud enough so that even those that weren't werewolves could hear and the crowd burst out laughing.
Alpha Chelsea had never felt so angry, shamed and confused at the same time in her life.
After so long, years of training to become a strong alpha so that no one had to look down on her, and now herself and the image of her pack was being mocked because her mate turned out to be an omega.
The pack her father had spent years building into what it is now, with her mother by his side, was now being ridiculed because of the omega.
Why did it have to be an omega of all people? What did she do to deserve this?
She definitely did not deserve to have an omega for a mate. Alpha Chelsea thought as she now looked at the boy standing in front of her, with so much hatred in her eyes.
If she wanted to bring down the mockery, she had to do what was right.
But should she really?
Soon, Xander was beside her.
"Chelsea," He took her hand in his and squeezed them. Alpha Chelsea looked at him for a brief moment. Xander stared deeply into her eyes before nodding.
"This can't be it," he told her. "You still have a choice."
Alpha Chelsea returned her gaze to the omega standing in front of her, feeling intimidated by all the attention.
Everyone was watching, waiting for their next move.
But even before Alpha Chelsea opened her eyes, the young Omega knew what was going to happen and he knew what would happen to him if he stayed. But he didn't want it to end that way.
"I, Alpha Chelsea Walker of the Dark Forest pack hereby..."
