6. An omega for a mate

1402 Words
The young Omega didn't wait for her to finish as he turned and ran. He ran and ran as far and as fast away from the crowd as he could. All he wanted, as he took on the job of waiting for the day's ball, was to get some extra money for college. All he wanted was to leave the Dark Forest pack and never imagined he would get involved in this kind of drama. His life was already hard as it was, and he didn't need more of that. There was stunned silence as the crowd watched the trail the omega had left behind. The crowd looked back at Alpha Chelsea, wondering what she would do next. "That son of a..." Xander gritted, but before he could finish, Alpha Chelsea chased after her mate. Peter didn't care where he was going, as long as it was away from those horrible people. He had been a subject of bullying since he was twelve years old. Before shifting into his wolf, he thought he could be a vegetarian and started preaching to others to stop killing animals and that they could depend on plants and vegetables for food. He soon learnt that that was impossible at the age of thirteen when he gained his wolf, Harry, who taught him in the nicest way possible that wolves were carnivores. But it was already a year too late. People had already started bullying him. They called him "vegetable Pete" and when no one was looking, the bullies forcefully fed him with grass. When they saw how skinny he was, they mocked him and said that it was due to lack of eating meat and once, a group of twelfth graders, after beating him up, forced him to eat a dead rabbit. Thankfully, they were caught by the principal before they could shove the dead rabbit down his throat. The jocks were duly punished, but Peter still wasn't able to forget about that event, especially with the fact that everyone still called him names, except his parents. Ever since then, Peter had been trying to save money to go to college, away from his pack. He told his parents that he wanted to get a diploma in finance, after which he would open up a business in a human town. Everything had been going smoothly for him so far. He had only a few months left to graduate and he had been counting the days until then. He had also taken up a lot of jobs over the past years, and, with the help of his parents, had managed to save enough money for college. He took on the job of waiting for the mate ball to add extra cash to his savings. Never did he think any of the events would happen and he would be the center of attention. Everything was going smoothly. His bladder was full and he had just dropped his tray to go answer the call of nature when he smelt the most beautiful scent ever. He couldn't distinguish between freshly baked vanilla cupcakes, newly made butter popcorn and the rain. Just then, the most beautiful woman with brown skin glowing under the full moon stopped in front of him. He stared at her beautiful face and into her beautiful eyes that were a warm honey brown color. He was astonished. The least he thought of and expected was a mate. And certainly not this beautiful alpha. He had nothing more to keep him in this pack after he graduated, but when he stared at his beautiful mate who was staring back at him with so much love he thought he could never receive anywhere, Peter was already rethinking about his life, if leaving his pack was the best thing to do. But then, the jests started coming in full force. Reminding him of his life, of his status. Would his mate accept him like that? He looked at her with so much hope and despair as she took everything in of what people said. But just then, his hope was crushed and his soul was tampered with as the love he had first seen in the Alpha's eyes turned to hate and she opened her mouth to reject him. No! He couldn't let that happen. His life was already bad as it was. He didn't need her to make it worse. He didn't want to become a fresh subject for bullying in the pack. He knew it would not only taint his name for being the omega rejected by the female Alpha, but it would also bring shame to his family even after he leaves. But worse, he knew what happens to someone when they get rejected, and everyone knew how bad a rejection was from a powerful person to the weakest. And for him, being a weak omega, the pain was likely to kill him after spending years in agony. For him, it was a matter of life and death, so he made a dash for it. All he ever asked for was to be happy. He thought as tears streamed down from his eyes, threatening to cloud his vision. Peter quickly wiped his eyes with the sleeve of his shirt as he kept running in the night, not caring where he went to. Peter stopped in front of the white fence to catch his breath. The only time he ever ran like this was when being chased by bullies, and today it felt no different. He felt the sounds of footsteps approaching and turned to see the Alpha approaching and he panicked. Did she follow him here to humiliate him further? He didn't wait to see the reaction on her face as he jumped over the white fence. "Hey stop!" Alpha Chelsea shouted after him but he only ran deeper into the Gretch forest. Alpha Chelsea followed after him, the scene with Alana fresh in her mind. "Stop right there you!" she shouted at him, but Peter only kept running. Alpha Chelsea stopped at the exact spot where she and Alana had gotten cuts, surprised that the forest let her mate pass without attacking him. She looked at her arms and legs, but nothing happened, so she decided to follow after him. "You can't keep running the h*ll away from me!?" she growled angrily when his back came into view. She stopped running, seeing that he also stopped running, and started walking towards him. Then she saw him climbing over and standing on top of something. "What the..." her words caught in her throat when she saw him standing over a well. "Don't come closer or I will fall," Peter looked at her with teary eyes. "The h*ll are you thinking!" Alpha Chelsea felt frightened for the first time in her life. "I am going to die anyway," Peter replied, breathing heavily. "This is stupid," Alpha Chelsea muttered. "Come down please," Alpha Chelsea pleaded, taking a small step towards him "I swear to you that I am not going to hurt you." "But your rejection will!" Peter cried out. Alpha Chelsea took another step towards him and he noticed. "One more step and I am diving inside this deep well!" Peter screamed at her. He looked behind him and into the deep well. Inside it was so dark he couldn't see a thing. But he knew it had to be very deep, and probably dry. When he wasn't looking, Alpha Chelsea slowly and silently started walking towards him. Her plan was simple. She would get to him while he wasn't looking, grab him and quickly put him down. But at the moment she stopped in front of him and extended her arms to grab him, Peter chose that moment to turn his head away from the well. When he saw her reaching for him, he was scared and thought she was trying to harm him. Out of fear, Peter took a step back, stepping on nothing. It all happened in the span of a second. Alpha Chelsea panicked when she saw him falling into the well and jumped to grab his legs. But everything happened so fast and before you know it, the two of them had fallen into the well. Peter fell first, followed by Alpha Chelsea, who was trying to save him. She hit her head hard on the wall of the well before falling inside.
