'Wake up. Wake up, Chelsea. Wake up.'
"Am I dead?" Was the first thing Chelsea said as soon as she opened her eyes. Her head hurt.
She quickly covered her eyes with her arms. The sun was shining at its peak, almost blinding her. And it was hot.
'No. You are not dead. At least not yet, so get your butt off the ground.' Lisa, Alpha Chelsea's wolf stated.
Alpha Chelsea turned to her side and opened her eyes, just then noticing that she was lying on green grass.
Confused, she stood up and looked around.
There were bush willow and acacia trees, some other trees and the sky was blue with white clouds moving slowly.
No one needed to tell her that she was in unfamiliar territory.
But how did I get here? Alpha Chelsea wondered.
She didn't know of any Savannah region near the Dark Forest pack.
The events of the night she found Peter as her mate rushed back to her in a second.
"What if this is a dream?" Alpha Chelsea wondered.
What if the whole night was a dream? That her mate didn't turn out to be an omega and that she didn't get ridiculed and embarrassed to the extent that she thought that rejecting her mate was the best idea.
She looked down at her dress, which was now dirty.
The whole night definitely wasn't a dream then, but to what point?
The last thing she remembered was chasing her mate into the Gretch forest and trying to save him from committing suicide.
Just thinking about that made her feel guilty, that she could push someone into thinking that the best way for them was to leave the world.
Am I really that horrible for a mate?
At the thought of her mate, more questions followed.
Where is he right now? She wondered, looking around with the hope that he survived too.
'Dream or not, better go find our mate. I can sense him behind the bush'
Just as Lisa said that, Alpha Chelsea looked at the bush to her left. Not only did she sense movement, but she also smelt his scent.
She walked to the bush, carefully parted the bushes and stepped foot into the clearing to see her mate standing and taking a pee.
Her eyes widened and she flushed, as she stood there frozen.
Just then Peter looked up and saw her.
He let out a yelp as he quickly turned his back to her, zipping himself off and cursing at himself.
"Don't you know it's rude to watch someone", Peter grunted, trying to hide his embarrassment.
"Sorry it was just for two seconds," Alpha Chelsea blurted, letting go of the bush and stepping back to give him privacy.
"Ugh!" she heard Peter exclaim.
Soon he came out from behind the bush with a frown, looking everywhere but her direction.
"I didn't look at anything anyway." She said, trying to make things better.
"Whatever," Peter grumbled in annoyance. Awkward silence followed.
"You have a nice vegetable anyway."
"Huh?" Peter looked at her with confusion in his eyes. Alpha Chelsea stared at his handsome face for a second.
His white shirt was also dirty, his hair more messy than it was the previous night and she wondered how she herself looked, so she subconsciously wiped her face with her hand.
"I mean," she shrugged. "it's why you are called vegetable Pete, isn't it?"
"You have no idea, do you?" Peter said quietly and looked down at his feet, but she heard him anyway.
The two started walking, with no idea where they were walking, but there were trees ahead and they both headed towards it with the hope of finding something. Anything. Or perhaps someone to tell them where they were.
Soon, they reached the place surrounded by trees and kept walking inside the forest.
Peter was glad to finally be in some shade. The sun was scorching hot and he didn't want to get burnt, while Alpha Chelsea kept looking at the surroundings, hoping to see something familiar.
She was assured that she was still in the Gretch Forest, and if they kept walking, they would soon be out of the forest.
"What is this place anyway?" Alpha Chelsea asked. All the trees didn't look like the ones that grew in or near the Dark Forest pack.
"I thought you would know, Alpha," Peter said snarkily. Alpha Chelsea could tell that her mate was angry, but she decided to let that one go.
"Whatever this place is, it has some sort of different energy." She said and sniffed the air.
"Whatever," Peter grumbled.
"And stop giving me an attitude! It's not my fault we ended up here," Alpha Chelsea couldn't take it anymore.
"Oh yeah? We wouldn't have ended up here if you hadn't pushed me into the well," he accused, and she gasped.
"What? I was trying to save you from..." She trailed off, not wanting to say it.
"From what?" Peter urged.
"From committing suicide!" Alpha Chelsea snapped.
Now it was his turn to gasp in shock.
"Absurd! Unbelievable!" He muttered to himself as he walked faster, hoping to stay away from her.
"If you didn't have that in mind, why did you run into the forest in the first place? You knew it would kill you."
"I wasn't thinking straight, and you were the one that chased me in there."
"Still," Alpha Chelsea flailed her arms. "It's not like I was going to kill you,"
"But your rejection would have," he finally uttered. Alpha Chelsea stopped in her tracks.
She wasn't expecting him to say that and suddenly she was out of words to say. But most of all she felt more guilty.
"That's what I thought," Peter snorted. He kept walking until he was out of her sight.
Alpha Chelsea stood there not knowing what to do next. It was the first time in her life that she wasn't so sure about herself anymore.
She let out a sigh and looked up.
"What am I supposed to do with this one?" she said to no one in particular.
Just as she started walking in the direction Peter disappeared, she heard him scream.
