CHAPTER LIII : THE THUNDER HERO

            “So how’s our new chieftain?” I asked the moment I entered his office after I knocked. He’s still not officially out chieftain, he still has to go through a lot of process… I know nothing about those process, but I think those where like, testing him if he’s ready, teaching him some lessons that he has to know, and of course the blessing and rituals.

            Being a chieftain isn’t easy though. It’s not something that you can brag in front of your friends the moment you receive the power and authority. It’s not about being the highest position and having people move under your nose. If that’s what you think, then you’re not fit to be a chieftain.

            My friend here is so down to earth that he didn’t even tell me if I haven’t caught him red handed. He said he just wanted to make sure that he can do it and he’s ready to do it before he tells everyone. Only Aisha knew about that news. Nazif isn’t the kind of person who’ll use the authority for self-gain though.

            That’s one of a chieftain attributes that person has to have. Maybe it’s one of the reasons why he was chosen to be our chieftain. He’s also smart he’s just so play time and always has his time joking around. I don’t know for now, maybe he has to control that attitude since he’s now our chieftain.

            But imagine if you have a joker leader ahahaha gosh, I can’t imagine… I don’t know what will happen. But I know some leaders with great sense of humor.

            I came here to visit since I’ve been lonely these past few days because of Kuzma and Kurezma’s departure. I really wanted to go with them, or at least if I could go there... but I can’t. I miss them so much, I miss her. I wonder what she’s doing or how she’s doing. Does she think about me too?

            I always go here whenever I feel empty. Good thing there’s Aisha and Nazif, they all became my friend since that training along with Kuzma and Kurezma. I never had one before. Aisha always kept me in company since Nazif became busy with his stuff. He’s always with the Chieftain.

            Since Kuzma and Kurezma left, the three of us had been always together… I mean not all of the time, but every day, we meet and each other… just asking how were doing and some casual talks… that’s all. Nazif had been so busy too, and we don’t want to distract him.  

            But right now, our chieftain isn’t here, he went somewhere but he’ll be coming back soon though. That’s why I just entered the office that easily ahahaha no, just kidding. I respect this place and the person who sits in this place. I also respect Nazif since he’s going to be our new chieftain.

            I can’t just act casual like this when he officially becomes one. He’s my friend, yea, but he’s going to be our chieftain so I have to respect him as one. We can still be friends though, we just have to know our limitations. Aisha also does the same with me. But there’s something between these two that doesn’t keep them away from each other.

            They are closer than before. I remember that time when Nazif had doubts with himself when he knew he’d be the chieftain… that was a few days ago. Aisha was there for him, he was having his hard time and she was there to support her and didn’t leave his side. How I wish to have that kind of friend… or is it friend?

            I’m not dumb not to know what it is. I can see it in their eyes, I can see it right from the beginning. I don’t know how they told each other their feelings though. But it’s between him and her, I don’t want to get in between. I’m still going to ask him some other time ahahahaha I needed advice. I don’t want to miss the leap.

            “Hey, what’s up?” he greeted as I entered. He stood up to properly meet me and offer me to sit… woah, he’s so polite and so formal… he really looked like the chieftain, so this is what will happen to you if you gain higher position in the tribe. You can’t just joke around if you’re the leader though ahahaha but you can laugh at things though

            “Nothing… just here to see you, I’m so bored ahahahaha what happened these past few days, you suddenly become so polite… you’re not like that before, as if ahahahaha” I uttered jokingly commenting about his act a while ago, he just laughed with me before he answered

            I sat down without removing my gaze towards him. He still need to work out his words though, he can’t just say ‘hey what’s up’ when he greets other people ahahahaha

            “Nahh… just part of the job ahahaha out chieftain told me so, even with you guys” he answered and scratched his head as he laughed shyly

            “Oh… we’ll get used to it though… I just can’t believe I’m good friends with the chieftain… hope you do well in the future” I said as I sat myself comfortably ahahaha

            “Yea, I hope so… the work’s so hard, but I know I can do it, Aisha’s always been there for me” he answered as his tone suddenly became serious

            “You know that we’ll always be here for you whenever you need us” I said sincerely and smiled at him

            “Good thing you’re left here ahahaha” he said and chuckled a bit as he joked about Kuzma and Kurezma’s departure ahahaha so that’s why I’m left here huh

            “What’s the drama?” we suddenly heard someone came in approaching interrupting our conversation. It’s Aisha.

            “Shut up” Nazif responded as he laughed and so I did. Aisha sat down on the chair in front of me giving both of us a playful smile

            “We’re just having our time together… why are you jealos? Ahahahaha” I answered teasing her

            “What!? No I’m not…duhh, I was just asking” she denied as she snapped and looked at me weirdly… she’s blushing ahahaha she’s making it too obvious

            “Stop making it too obvious Aish… I’m so sorry, I just can’t help it” I added stirring her more ahahaha

            “What?” she asked again

            “Nothing… I just… bro” I said as I looked at Nazif, he looked at me weirdly but then smiled when he got me

            “Bro…” he repeated what I said and stared at me and gave me a wink. I also looked at him heavily as I maintained the eye contact

            “Yuck! What are you two doing!? Ew!” Aisha shrieked that made the two of us laugh hard ahahahahaha she looked so hilarious that we can’t hold our laughter much longer ahahahaha

            “Just kidding… you really are jealous!” I said pointing at her while still laughing

            “No I’m not… that’s disgusting, go find yourself, not mine!” she exclaimed claiming Nazif ahahaha see? Told you… there really is something between them

            “Yea, I have one” I answered back as I stopped laughing

            “When will the chieftain comes back anyway?” she asked after she sat down

            “I don’t know… maybe later or tomorrow… he just said he’ll be back soon and I have to be here in case you need me” Nazif answered sticking out his lower lip and shaking his head slowly

            “Oh… busy huh?” Aisha teased him and smiled sheepishly ahahahaha does this usually happened between best friends? It seems like teasing your friend isn’t offensive anymore but seemed to be a compliment.

            “Yea…what else… your future chieftain is getting too busy” Nazif got along with Aisha as we all laugh casually inside the chieftain’s office… he’s not here anyway.

            The door opened all of a sudden, and there came the chieftain with his normal expression. I don’t understand what he is thinking or feeling, he just walked there. The three of us quickly stopped laughing and stood up to greet him. We slightly bowed our head as Nazif moved from the chair.

            We waited until he gets to his seat until we raised our heads. Nazif walked towards Aisha as we went back to our seats. We were just laughing a while ago, but now the atmosphere suddenly became awkward ahahahaha.

            “So you have visitors” the chieftain mentioned that broke the awkward silence that has been occupying the whole room. We just looked at him, Nazif don’t look nervous though, the chieftain doesn’t seem to be angry, disgusted or what… we just stared at each other. Visitors are allowed inside, aren’t they? Ahahahaha

            “Yes sir… I invited them over” he humbly answered facing the chieftain firmly.

            “I can see that…” he spoke as he smiled a bit and then turned his attention to me “I am actually about to call you, but you’re already here” he said that made my forehead wiggle… why is that? I can’t speak right now, I just looked at him giving him a questioning look

            “Wha….” I tried talking yet my voice faded away before I could even finish my word. I have a heavy feeling about this. I don’t know what it is, but something’s… something’s so big is coming. It seems like he’s going to tell me something that will make my heart drop… I don’t know

            “Before I tell you, I’m going to tell you about Kuzma and Kurezma first, so that you’ll know what does it have to do with you” he said that made me more nervous… oh gosh, what is it?

            “We knew that Kuzma is the son of the Fairy King… it’s quite a long story… but he really is” he initiated without changing his facial expression…

            Kuzma’s the son of the Fairy King? How is that? And does that mean Kurezma too? I don’t understand… oh no! I remember Kuzma and Kurezma didn’t have the same father. So it’s only Kuzma.

            “He has his new responsibilities as the prince of Fairy Kingdom and also as the next King. He is our Thunder Hero, but because of what we just knew, we had a change of plan” he continued as he kept shifting his gazes slowly from Nazif and Aisha to me.

            “So he decided to let go of his responsibility as the Thunder hero and asked me to give it to someone else… and that happens to be you Ashtan…” he said that made my knees gelatinized… I don’t know what I would feel. But all I can think is that I can finally see Kurezma again.

            “Is that true?” I asked with full of shock, my face shows exactly how I feel

            “Yes, it is…” the chieftain said firmly. His face seemed so serious that he doesn’t look like he is having a good time with us. I can feel it, plus he’s not the person to joke around.

            “Tomorrow, you’ll be sent to the Psychic Nation, they already started their training, you cope up with them” he said “You prepare later” he added
