It's true. Vampires exists. Those inhumane creatures feeding upon a human's blood were indeed true and my village is now afflicted with them. Creatures with incredible power, mind capacity and a desire to obtain blood. They exist. They are real and I have just encountered one. One who desires me.
What should I do? How can I save Glaze? How can I save myself? Goddammit!
After my confrontation with Cress, the monster, I finally came to know about what she is and how people are dying day by day. I ran back to the hospital.
I was not scared of a creature like her. I was infuriated that I didn’t extend my knowledge beyond science, but now I have, I have all the answers I was searching for.
Cress Hemsworth, you are going to regret sharing your secret with me. You will regret letting me go. Thought determined to find an antidote against her.
I would definitely not offer myself to her, but I wouldn’t sit back either. I won’t let her ruin my peace, trade me for stupid reasons.
“Where is Miya’s body?” I went back hastily, panting heavily, relieved that I am still alive with no injury yet or fangs sucking my blood.
“In the morgue. Why?” Anna asked, perplexed at my visage.
But ignoring the weird looks I gained, I ran back to the morgue. She followed me, confused. I finally have what I need to extend my research and I cannot sit back anymore.
I knew she had a charm that attracts people, but I didn’t know it was that strong to make people do as she orders. That man was clearly out of his mind and she was controlling him.
Taking out Miya’s body, I began to inspect it thoroughly, checking her neck to see whether she was a bit like the mindless man who ran away or not.
As I was inspecting Miya’s corpse, I finally found a faint but visible bite mark on her neck, showing she was bitten like everyone else.
“There it is.” I smirked, breathing heavily, pulling away and turning to Anna, who was only bewildered.
“What?” She asked, coming closer, unable to understand what I managed to find in a corpse.
Smirking, I rest my hands in my pockets, turning to her, ordering her victoriously to finally make progress in this predicament.
“Take a closer look, you can see a mark on her neck. Check her body if you can find any marks like that too,” I ordered, pointing at her neck.
“Yes.”
She came closer, her eyes widened when she saw it too, not expecting how a small bite mark could become a cause of a major pellagra.
Gulping, she nodded, inspecting Miya’s body to see further bite marks as well.
“Since the blood loss was too much, we didn’t think it could be anything small. We narrowed our thinking to certain parts but not anymore.” I mused, holding my chin, lost in deep pondering.
I have restricted my thoughts to certain reasoning, but since this is a matter beyond logical reasoning, I would use all the assets in my hands to reach its depth.
She shouldn't have revealed herself. It’s going to be a matter of time. I am going to find a way to kill them now.
“There is another one on her arm. Two of them.” Anna called, dragging me out from my thoughts, gaining my attention.
“I should have known.” I hummed, taking a step back but Anna was only confused at my demeanor. She wants to know what is going on but she would never believe me unless I show her.
“Doc? What happened?” She asked, coming after me but exhaling, I put up my dominant and cold front, rolling my sleeves and resting my hand in my pockets. It’s going to be a long night.
“Get me Miya’s blood sample.” I ordered strictly, not in the mood for an explanation for now. I have got work to do.
“What? Why?” She asked but I hoped she hadn’t sent her body towards the mortuary department.
“I said get me Miya’s blood sample. Now.” I growled, glaring at her to not question me further. She was taken aback but believing in me, she nodded.
“O-Okay.” Stammering, she left quickly, getting the sample of the remaining blood left in her body quickly as I was ready to do some experiments.
I loosened my tie and took it off so it wouldn't bother me, opening the first two buttons of my shirt, checking Miya’s blood under the microscope and found a new property in it.
“As suspected, her after-death blood sample is transfigured.” I mumbled, checking it while Anna only watched, but thankfully, followed my commands without questioning.
“Her body is going to stay here.” I ordered while checking her blood.
“What? We can’t do that. They need the body for the funeral. They won’t let us.” She reasoned, unsure how to react, but I didn’t argue and continued my work.
But just watch, Cress, I won’t sit back. I will find a way to find beings like you.
After working on her blood for the rest of the night, I was tired, but this cannot stop me. I cannot allow more people to die anymore.
Next day, I gathered all the results I had taken, “No chemical reaction either.” I mumbled, trying to mix the blood with different chemicals but it was not reacting to any of them.
None of them were powerful enough to destroy the blood cells. It was weird. I had never seen this happening in my entire life.
“Even when the obtained blood is left alone it is not coagulating or separating.” I said as Anna was writing the result I managed to obtain. My tone was dead at this point, my beard was outgrown, I had bags under my eyes.
“What is happening, Doc?” She asked, narrowing her eyes in perturbation. The way this blood reacted, she cannot fathom how this was happening and why.
“Nothing. When will they be coming to take her?” I sighed in disappointment, taking the file from her and was about to walk out of the lab, but when we got into the corridor, the sunlight from the window fell on my face.
“In an hour.” She replied, coming after me after locking the lab. All the staff will be here at any time now. I have this chance now. When the sunlight fell on my face, I remembered one more thing.
Sunlight.
“Anna…” I called her, stopping in my tracks, glancing from my shoulder as the light fell on my face and the blood sample on my hand was almost scorched, so I hid it, not letting Anna see this reaction of how badly it reacted against the radiation.
“Yes?” She asked, locking the lab and turning to me as I smirked darkly, knowing one way to deal with them now.
“Take Miya’s body to the direct sunlight.”
