It had been a huge mistake.
Ever since the night I confronted Callum in front of Joshua, I haven't heard from Joshua again. It feels like he's been avoiding me. As I walked through the school's bustling hallway, clutching my bag tightly, I made my way upstairs to the relaxation room used by Callum, Dominic, Leo, and Zane. Being the sons of four powerful Alphas comes with its perks, including having a dedicated space for friends to hang out even during class. I pushed the door open, my frustration and anger evident as I headed straight in to confront Callum.
“ What did you do? Tell me what you did to make Joshua avoid me!” I said angrily as I pushed Callum angrily.
Just as I anticipated, Callum's friends quickly swooped in to support him. Their united front sent a shiver of fear down my spine, but I stood my ground in the face of their intimidating presence.
“ Valerie, stop. What's wrong with you? What's gonna on?” Leo asked looking at me.
“ Ask your friend. Do you know how long I have been waiting for Joshua's confession? He finally said he loved me and he wanted me to be his girlfriend. Why are you trying to ruin my life? What have I ever done to you?” I asked feeling on the verge of crying as I looked at Callum.
“ You asked for it. Flirting with a guy that is not your mate, what were you expecting? You're ours, Valerie. You won't ever be free from us." Callum said making me furious.
“ I am not yours! I am not some property that you own, I am a human being. I am your mate!” I yelled angrily.
Fuming with frustration at myself for unintentionally admitting to being their mate, I stormed out of the room and returned to class for the rest of the day. Upon arriving home, I hastily dropped my bag and eagerly reached for my laptop, intending to contact Joshua once more. However, as I was about to do so, my attention was diverted by a notification on my screen. It was an email from the college I had applied to. As I carefully read through the contents, a sudden gasp escaped my lips, and my heart raced with shock and excitement. I had been accepted.
“ Yes!” I screamed happily as I looked at the message once again.
In the whirlwind of excitement, my thoughts were consumed by Joshua as I made the impulsive decision to drive over to his house. As I stood outside his door, my knuckles rapped against the wood, the sound echoing in the silent air. When the door creaked open, I was met with Joshua's mother, her face contorted in anger, causing a tremor of fear to course through me, making me stagger back. As she closed the door, I couldn't help but gaze at it wondering if Joshua was inside. If he was, why didn't he contact me all this time?
“ It's you. What are you doing here? Why didn't you come here? Do you want to finish what you started? I won't allow you to harm my son!” Joshua's mother shouted leaving me confused.
“ What are you talking about? I just want to see Joshua. Is he inside? Can I talk to him?” I asked anxiously, trying to get near the door. However, I couldn't.
Slapping me hard across my face, Joshua's mother made me stunned as I stared at her. Joshua and I had been childhood friends for the longest time and even though I knew his mother was strict, I never realized she could be this harsh.
“ You still want to see my son? After what your beloved friends did to him? Go away from here now. Leave!” Joshua's mother shouted angrily as she pushed me down the stairs making me leave.
Crying back as I returned home, I headed up to my room and closed the door feeling useless. I was super mad and frustrated about the fact that I couldn't do anything for Joshua. Was it true? Callum was the only one who had seen me with Joshua that night. I had always believed that he was a good person despite being in the league of Dominic and the others but I guess I was wrong. Callum was a monster just like the rest of them and I was going to make him pay for destroying my life. For beating up Joshua and threatening him. They thought that they could control the world but they were wrong. I was going to teach all of them a lesson.
“ Isn't that Valerie?” A girl asked pointing at me as I walked into the cafeteria the next day.
Scanning the area, I meticulously searched for Dominic, Callum, Zane, and Leo. Finally, I spotted them in their usual spot and couldn't contain my excitement as I made my way to their table. Their surprised expressions upon seeing me only fueled my determination. I had gone to great lengths to transform my appearance, even going as far as dyeing my hair from its natural black to a striking blonde. Understanding each of their individual preferences, I was keenly aware that adhering strictly to my plan was the key to success. Carefully placing my tray on the table, I strategically positioned myself beside Leo knowing he was the weakest link in their group.
“Hey, what are you doing here? I thought you rejected all of us as your mates. Have you changed your mind?" Zane asked, his hot-tempered nature flaring as usual.
Under the table, I clenched my hand, fighting the urge to punch Zane as I struggled to keep my composure. The biggest challenge at the moment was convincing all of them, particularly Callum, that I had truly embraced them as my mates.
“ I realized that you were right. All of you are my mates. You're all mine. Rather than fighting it, I should embrace it. That's why I want to apologize to all of you. I misunderstood you all.” I said feigning remorse.
