Be my secret lover

Previously… “You’re too talented to be a maid, so I’ll spare you, on one condition.” “If you sign the deal, you won’t have to give me 10 million or go to jail.” _________ “I need you to be my secret lover and ruin my engagement day.” Nigel said with a serious expression. “In exchange, I’ll have your sister receive the best healthcare service in the country. You’ll be paid monthly if you do your job well.” “How did you know about my sister?!” Nala was shocked. What a creepy stalker, she thought. “Darling, I have my way. Did you forget who I am?” He winked at her teasingly. “Right, you sir is creepy. But why do I have to be your secret lover? Aren’t you and Ms. Huang in love or something?” Nala rolled her eyes and questioned him. “That’s none of your concern.” Nigel smirked, “It’s for a period of time, not forever. And in the meantime, you can have your sexy time with me for free, you know.” He mocked her again while inspecting her embarrassed face. “Narcissist!” she mumbled, “What exactly do I have to do?” “Whatever lovers do.” He faked a cough. “I’m not interested.” Nala furrowed her brows in disbelief. “10 million or jail time?” Nigel smiled devilishly at her innocent face. “Okay! I will sign!!!” she angrily yelled at him. Nigel laughed victoriously and quickly handed her his pen from the pocket of his suit. Even his pen smelled like expensive cologne. Nala signed her name on the contract carelessly in annoyance. Little did she know, her carelessness was about to cause a disaster in her life… “Oh, you should also quit your job today. My driver will pick you up. See you darling.” He grinned and walked through the door into the other room without giving Nala a chance to refuse anything. “Crazy jerk! Why do I have to quit my job?!” She mumbled quietly, not noticing Kelvin who had silently entered the room and was standing behind her. “Miss Auria, I suggest you read the contract when you get home. Everything you needed to know is stated in the paper.” Kelvin smiled politely at her. Nala jumped in surprise but calmly kept her cool. He must’ve heard her swear at his boss just now. So embarrassing…she thought to herself. _________ Han’s Creative Studio Manager Lee rushes into Nala’s office the minute she arrives. She was informed that Nala had decided to quit her job all of a sudden, so she was worried. “Nala, is something wrong? Why did you resign all of a sudden?” Manager Lee asked in a genuinely worried tone. “I have some personal problems, Senior. I’m delighted to have worked here and learnt a lot from this place. You’ve given good advice, senior, but I want to explore more of this industry and I’m willing to do it on my own.” She lied and smiled at her manager softly. She couldn’t explain her complicated situation to Manager Lee anyway. “Oh my Nala, you’ve grown up so much. I wish you a successful future! We’re all going to miss your cheerful spirit.” Manager Lee hugged Nala goodbye. “Thank you, Senior. I’ll visit you often. It’s not like I’m gone for good, hehe.” Nala replied cheerfully and hugged her back. She packed her things quickly because Kelvin was waiting for her in the car in front of the building. Nala couldn’t believe that Nigel was serious about wanting her to quit her job and move to his place. Well, since she’s shameless enough to sleep with him, there’s nothing else she can’t do, right? ‘It’s for the sake of my sister.’ Nala reminded herself as she bit her lower lips tightly. “Mr. Sharr, I would like to visit my sister first. Is that alright?” Nala asked Kelvin as he was putting stuff in the trunk. “Of course, Ms. Auria. Please just call me Kelvin.” He responded. The car drove off to a grand hospital located not too far from the city center. It is one of the best hospitals in the country where excellent physicians and scientists work. “This-this is not the hospital my sister was at?” Nala was confused. “President has transferred your sister here right after you signed the contract. This is one of the best hospitals in the country. Hopefully, it will improve your sister’s condition. Shall we go inside now?” Nala was stunned and emotional. She felt like Indie’s condition worsened because she couldn’t afford to admit her to a better hospital sooner. She felt like it was all her fault that her sister was sick. She wanted to thank Nigel for what he’d done. After listening to the doctor explaining for a while, Nala learnt that Indie, her sister, needed a heart transplant because her congenital heart disease reached an end-stage where it no longer works properly without the machines’ help. She’s now on the long list waiting for a possible and suitable donor. The poor child is only 4. She had to go through such a scary procedure. Regardless, Nala promised to do anything for her sister to be able to see the sunlight, even if it’s only for one more day. Her heart hurt for her little sister. Which means, she’ll have to act well as Nigel’s lover. After all, she owed him so much. Nala brushed some loose hair out of Indie’s face, who’s sleeping soundly on the hospital bed with many wires and tubes attached. Tears welled up in her big dolly eyes. “We’ll get through this together, Indie. You’re a strong girl. I’m proud of you.” Nala whispered quietly, afraid to wake the little girl up. Kelvin watched the emotional scene silently from afar, leaving some space for the sisters. He couldn’t understand what was going through his boss’s mind to help a complete stranger like that. It wasn’t his character at all. The boss that he knew was a cold hearted and arrogant man who only cared about himself. “Sorry for wasting your time, Kelvin. Thank you for taking me here.” Nala thanked Kelvin with gratitude. She felt bad for having him driving her around like that, but he insisted on driving her even though she told him she could just take the bus. “It’s my job, Ms. Auria. No need to thank me.” He smiled at her warmly. They drove to Nala’s house to pick up some of her stuff. The house is the only thing her parents left for her after they passed away. Their death was so sudden that they did not even have a chance to write their will for their daughters. Therefore, half of their assets are donated to charity and the other half are split between all the living relatives according to the law. Nala and Indie only got a small part of the assets. It is the house. Good thing she has a place over her head and didn’t end up on the street, right? No, her dad’s sister and brother are trying to get their hands on her house too. They are trying to sell the house and split the money into 3 parts equally, even though they had already gotten some properties that her parents owned. Greedy people will always be greedy. Luckily, Nala is an adult. She has full control of her own property. That’s when her aunt and uncle took a step back. Nala arrived at a two-storied modern mansion as big as a museum. She was amazed by the decorations and designs. Mr. Nigel Anderson really had a great taste in designing, she thought. Three house keepers were helping Nala organize her belongings in the room without saying a word to her. They seemed unfriendly and cold towards her. She wondered if she had done something wrong… After all, Kelvin told her during the ride that she shouldn’t talk to any of the house keepers unless Nigel was home too. What a weird rule…? As everything was settled, Nala pulled out her contract and read it thoroughly. At first, she felt bad for signing without going through it first, but after she saw Indie in a better condition, she now felt that she had made the right decision. “He banned me from talking to the people here beside Kelvin? And he wanted me to act spoiled? I’ve never been spoiled in my entire life; how am I supposed to act so? This weird arrogant man!” Nala whined while reading the papers. “Accompany him on business trips and dinners, and I must be in charge of his wardrobe. Okay, those are acceptable but I wasn’t allowed to go out without a bodyguard… I must share a bed with him and I must satisfy him IN BED too? Where did he even find such wicked ideas to put in this contract!” She kept finding weird conditions in the paper and complained to herself quietly. The last sentence made her face blush so hard, she felt like she was burning in flames. “Boy, last time I slept with you, it cost me 10 million plus my career and my future. Like h*ll am I going to do that again.” She closed her eyes, suppressing her embarrassment and accepted her fate. The list went on until Nala reached the part where it stated her benefits of signing the contract. She gets monthly payments of one million plus bonuses and extra needs fees. The best part is that Nigel Anderson is covering all the medical expenses of Indie Auria, her little sister. “This is too much. I guess I’ll never understand the mindset of rich people like him.” Nala sighed in overwhelmed. The man with the name Nigel Anderson really is something. He shook her heart with gratitude and hatred at the same time. It’s getting dark when one of the maids informs Kelvin that Nala’s workspace is ready for her to use. Until then did she realize that she needed some important materials to make the couple’s engagement attire. “Kelvin, when is Mr. Anderson coming back? I kind of need some materials for my project.” She asked Kelvin who is reading something on the tablet. “President will be back late. I can take you to get them, if you don’t mind.” “Then I’m sorry again for bothering your time.” She smiled helplessly. She wouldn’t dare to hop on the bus to go out without Nigel’s permission as stated in the contract. “It’s no problem, miss. It’s President’s order so don’t hesitate to ask for anything.” Kelvin calmly told her and put his tablet away, then walked to grab the car keys. Come to think of it, Nigel’s and Lisa’s engagement day is only 2 weeks away. Nala had to work harder and faster to make their attire, including one for herself, because she would be attending as an anonymous woman to ruin it as Nigel wanted. ‘It’s going to be a disastrous mess.’ She thought. Since she already had her designs sketched out to perfection, all there’s left to do is make them come to life. Lucky enough, the style that Lisa Huang chose is simple and non-complicated, which makes it a lot easier to sew. Nala couldn’t help but feel bad for Lisa Huang. What did that poor woman do to get betrayed by her fiancée on her special day like that…? She had been betrayed by her loved one once. She knew exactly how it felt. Men… tsk tsk tsk. “Kelvin! Do you happen to know what Mr. Anderson's size is? I forgot to take his measurement yesterday.” He was so distracting that she was losing her professionalism. As for Lisa, her manager had already sent her size to Nala in advance. “I’m not sure, miss. Why don’t you take his measurements by yourself? Just to be sure.” Kelvin answered awkwardly. Of course, he knew his boss’s size but he was sure the president wanted Nala to personally measure him. “That… I’m not certain when he will return.” Nala sighed. To her, it sounded dangerous to even be near him, let alone to measure his body size. It means she has to touch his body!!! “I was informed that he is on his way here, miss.” Kelvin smiled playfully. He also enjoyed teasing the innocent girl who looked so scared of his boss. “Okay, then I’ll have to wait for him. Thank you.” She sighed helplessly again. They are going to stay in the same house, there’s no point in avoiding Nigel anyway. Not long after, the sound of a car engine was heard through the front gate. Nala, who was in the tailor's room, was not aware of who was coming. A tall, elegant figure walked into the house fiercely as her sharp eyes scanned throughout the whole place. “Where’s Nigel?” Lisa’s husky voice rang up. “Sir is not home, madam.” Aunt Remi, the old butler replied respectfully. “Is there a woman in this house? Whose shoes are those?” Lisa fiercely questioned Aunt Remi, who didn’t seem bothered. “There’s no one. The shoes had always been there. Sir instructed us not to move it.” Aunt Remi didn’t seem to fear Lisa. She was instructed not to let anyone know that Nala was staying in the house. He also banned people from going into his room. Only Nala was allowed because she'd be sharing a room with him. Lisa didn’t buy Aunt Remi’s response. She walked right up stairs, straight to Nigel’s room just to find out it was locked from the inside. “Nigel never locks his door. Who’s inside? Open the door.” Lisa banged on the door a couple times but no one answered. Nala, who was inside the room connected to Nigel’s bedroom, had heard strange noises from the door. She was about to get up to see what was going on, but Kelvin stepped in and stopped her from going out of the room. “Please don’t go outside right now. I’ll take care of the situation.” He informed Nala calmly. “Who is that? Should I be aware?” She asked in concern. It was her first day there. She’s still not used to the place, so she has every reason to be aware of her surroundings. “It’s…” Kelvin’s words were cut off by the sound of the door cracking open. “…” Who is that? _________
