On one condition...

2445 Words
Nigel had already left Nala's office but she's still standing there, frozen and confused. Ten million to sleep with a rich b*stard, she'll keep that in mind before sleeping with someone else!  On her way home, she stopped by a local hospital to visit someone. A 4 year-old girl sleeping peacefully on the hospital bed, looking so helpless and innocent that it hurts Nala's heart. Her little sister has been in the hospital for almost 2 years for her complicated congenital heart disease, where her heart was not functioning properly since she was born.  Nala's mom and dad passed away on a car accident when her sister Indie Auria was only 1 year old. That was when she still dates Jasper Olsen. Nala worked hard to pay for her sister's treatment since then but she still struggles most of the time because her work did not pay enough for her medical bills and mortgage.  Nala walked to the bed and rubs her sister's head softly, and whispers her name gently to wake her up. Little girl heard the noise and opened her eyes in surprise. "Big sis, you're here!" Indie spoke with joy, her eyes lighten up so bright, it made Nala smile.  "Yes, I brought your favorite food, let's eat." Nala spoke gently to her and helped Indie get up from the bed. There were tubes and wires all over her little body, but that doesn't stop the poor girl from being happy to see her big sister.  Indie went on the tell her sister about her day, how the nurse injected her some medications, and how they cared for her. Nala felt pitiful for her little sister but it motivates her to work harder to see Indie's illness improved. For awhile, she forgot about the Ten million that she and Nigel had talked about.  After Indie fell asleep, Nala carried her tired body back to her small apartment and thought about the conversation she had last afternoon with Nigel Anderson, the cruel and heartless man she hated to think about.  "Ten million, where do I get such amount of money..." She moaned in desperation.  Her mind is everywhere, her head is full of worry. The best thing she can think of right now is to find a way to negotiate with the heartless man. She'd do everything he says if it means she no longer has to give him the money for sleeping with him unintentionally.  "It wasn't even my fault! It was that d*mn Jasper's fault!" she complained to herself. She couldn't afford a lawyer, and she has no way to find a proof that everything was a misunderstanding. She had no other option but to negotiate with Nigel directly.  "Life is so unfair..." She sighed, and fell asleep without having dinner. She was tired and lost her appetite. ________________________________________________ Nigel Anderson's side... A customized grey Bugatti Chiron running on the country's max speed limit toward a private grand mansion on Westburgh beach, driven by a handsome, cold-looking man.  Nigel smirked to himself while thinking of what Nala Auria had to say to him when she comes to his office the next day. There's no way she'll find that much money in a single day to give to him, but there's also no way he'd put her in jail for such random thing.  It was all his trap. He needed to get out of the engagement with Lisa Huang. It was like a walk in the park for him, but he needed to make his family's blood boil first. Nigel didn't have a good relationship with his father and grandparents. It all started when they kicked his mother out of their family, accusing her of cheating, when really it was his father who cheated.  But it was all in the past, he just wanted to piss the elders off. Come to think of it, being in a rich, complicated family is never easy for him, nor for anyone else.  The car drove passed Nigel's mansion, his long slender fingers reached out to call someone on the car's bluetooth. He had somewhere else to go for now.  (Is it important? I'm busy.) A male voice rang through the car's speaker, that person sounds impatient and annoyed of Nigel.  "Come to the bar now." Nigel didn't give a d*mn how busy the other person is, he spoke emotionlessly and hung up the call afterward. That's how he'd always been.  The other person didn't have a chance to refuse, so they had to show up at the bar that Nigel had mentioned.  Nigel arrived at a private sky-bar located at one of the biggest hotels in the city that belongs to his family properties. He threw the key to one of the guard and instructed the manager to disallow anyone in the bar unless he allows.  The bar is located on the 38th floor of the hotel, filled with dark themed luxurious furnitures. Dim lights make Nigel's breathtaking face stands out that even the bar tender couldn't help but glance at him from time to time. He was like a perfect sculpted creature god has ever created. So handsome, so cold, just like every girl had dreamt of.  Soft music is playing, every sight in the bar right now is mesmerizing. But the peace didn't last long when another perfect looking guy walks in.  Karl Brett, the CEO of Brett's Entertainment, walks in with a similar phantom aura to Nigel, sits next to him with an annoyed expression.  "What is it? It better be an important discussion or I'm leaving."  "Hello to you too." Nigel smirked apathetically and gulp his whisky down. "I'm the owner here, I can kick you out."  "Annoying b*stard." Karl hissed and rolled his eyes. He hand-signed the barista to bring him the same thing Nigel is drinking and unbutton his collar showing sexy clavicle bones. "What's up? You looked down."  "I found the girl I've been looking for two years, but she didn't remember me." Nigel mocked himself. "When did I become so forgettable?"  "Self-admire much, huh?" Karl laughed at Nigel's insecurity. He had to excuse himself from his wife because this jack*ss' ridiculous problem. "I haven't seen you for a while, you haven't change one bit."  "I didn't call you here to make fun of me, so shut up." Nigel glared at his friend who is still laughing at him.  "What are you going to do then? Kidnap her or something?"  Karl isn't afraid of him, which annoyed Nigel more than he already is.  "I had my plan." Nigel gulped down another mouthful of whisky, "I'm gonna use her to piss my family off." He sounded serious this time. His apathetic face is now filled with hatred and disgust. Nigel's eyes grew cold and dark, showing his evil side to his best friend.  "Ahh, so it's a family drama. Did she agree to do it?" Karl was concerned about the girl, since his egocentric friend never talked nor cared about a girl before. He even looked for her for two years, she must have been a special one.  Karl knew all about Nigel's family issues. He understands why Nigel hated his family so much that he's willing to give a helping hand in the revenge plan.  "Not yet, but she will soon." Nigel smirked again. He's confident that Nala has no other options but to agree to help him.  "What do you mean? You force her to do it or something?" Karl furrowed his brows at his evil friend. He knew Nigel never jokes around and starts to question his friend's plan.  "Something like that. Just come to my engagement ceremony and see." Nigel rolled his eyes, the darkness in those dark blue eyes were gone as if he was happy to think of wicked things he's planning to do, "Also, keep your mouth shut." he added.  Karl shook his head in disbelief. How did he become friends with such a wicked man...  The two then chatted about this and that till it's past midnight, then parted ways to their own home. _________________________________________ Anderson's Group It's 9:45am, A small slender body stood still, looking at the skyscraper in front of her for a long time. Nala took a deep breath, suppressed her fear, then walked inside to the front counter.  "Good morning, how may I help you miss?" The receptionist asked in a fake charming voice.  "I'm here to see Mr. Nigel Anderson." Nala stuttered a bit.  "What's your name miss?" The girl asked again, she looked rather unimpressed. What did this average-looking woman has to do with their boss? She wondered.  "It's Nala Auria." She replied.  "There's no appointment booked, so I can't let you see our boss, miss." the receptionist girl suddenly turned cold towards Nala, "You can head straight to customer service department over there." She pointed her finger to god knows where.  "But he told me to come to his office yesterday, can you at least call him?" Nala was confused. She chose to ignore the girl's rudeness toward her and kept her calm.  "Our boss is a busy man. Perhaps you got the wrong address. I'll have to ask you to leave or else I'm calling the security miss." The girl became more and more unhappy to Nala and actually called the guards to escort her out of the building, when she saw that Nala is still standing there all confused.  The receptionist girl was being noisy on purpose to grab attention from other employees around, causing everyone to look at Nala in annoyance. This is not the first time random girls pretended to know their boss and asked to meet him.  Soon the security guards arrived and everyone started whispering about how shameless Nala is. But they all went quiet when they saw the presence of a tall figure entering the building, followed by 3 men in black luxurious suits. As soon as they saw the CEO of Anderson's group, everybody backed up 3 steps and bowed to him in respect.  "Ms. Auria, I apologize for the inconvenience, please join Mr. Anderson to his office this way." Kelvin, Nigel's assistant spoke up and bowed to apologize Nala who is still confused of what's happening.  Nala took a glance at the receptionist girl's face, who turned completely pale and she looked to the ground in fear. Guess she was caught by her boss of being inappropriate to the client just now.  "Call HR department to handle this problem now. No one should ever treat our client like this." Nigel told Kelvin emotionlessly. He grabbed Nala's hand and headed toward his private elevators which only him and his personal assistants can use.  "Boss, I'm so sorry, I won't act like this again please don't fire me." The girl's voice can be heard, as Nala was being pulled into the elevator by Nigel. He didn't care. He was called a heartless man for a reason.  When Nigel and Nala got inside the elevator, that's when everyone starts whispering again. Mr. Anderson they knew never touches any girl other than Lisa Huang, who is his soon to be fiancee. Well, most of the times Lisa was the one who clings on to him, but still. They just witnessed their boss held a woman's hand into the elevator. They seemed pretty close, the employees thought.  Inside the huge, marvelous office, Nala stood awkwardly in front of Nigel who is standing next to the glass window looking at her defeated expression. He again, felt it was cute. He crossed his arms and waited patiently for her to start the conversation first.  "So where's your lawyer? Or did you bring the money?" He started first because she seemed too nervous to talk to him.  "I don't have any." Nala lowered her head and speak softly. She felt inferior to him and there's nothing she could do about it so she'd rather played a chicken role.  "Hmm, what should I do? Send you to jail?" Nigel mumbled in a mocking way. He just wants to tease her until she shows her true self.  "Please don't! I'll do anything you ask!" Her cheeks got red because of pure embarrassment and anger. Nigel was slightly surprised that she didn't bring up her pitiful story or used her sick sister as an excuse.  "Anything? Well, what can you even do beside fashion designing? You don't seem to know any of the office work. Perhaps being a maid suits you." He continued to offend her. Just how much can she handle the disdain? He was curious.   Nala bit her lower lip hard that she started to taste blood in her mouth. If being a maid means she didn't have to give him 10 millions, she will do it. For the sake of her sister, she'd rather not go to jail.  "I can do basic office works. I'll be a maid if it means I won't have to give you the money or go to jail sir." She looked at Nigel in the eyes, she could feel him mocking her, waiting for her to fall. But she will not breakdown. Not in front of this heartless, unreasonable man.  Nigel thought for a moment. What Nala said surprised him again. He expected her to breakdown and cried begging him not to look down on her blah blah blah but she didn't. He felt the hatred and anger through her crystal eyes. There were no signs of tears. So he gave up teasing her.  "You're too talented to be a maid so I guess I'll spare you, on one condition." He smirked showing his victory.  "Yes?" her eyes sparked up a bit. She didn't expect him to say such things. One thing that she knew is the man was dangerous, nothing from him is good. Not even his other options. She shouldn't expect any good deed from him!  Nigel pressed some button on his table, a few minutes later Kelvin showed up with a document in his hand. He placed it on the coffee table and invites Nala to sit down on the sofa and read his boss's agreement paper.  At this moment, Nala knew it was Nigel's trap all along to force her to agree to him. She felt tricked. It's more hurtful than being betrayed by Jasper in the past.  Kelvin already left the room, leaving only Nala and Nigel sitting on the sofa facing each other. Nigel crossed his arm and look at Nala's complicated expression as she goes through the paper.  "If you agree with it, you won't have to give me 10 millions or go to jail." He spoke emotionlessly.  To be continued...
