Chapter Five In which they talk business. - “Let’s get this over and done with.” Page rolled her eyes at the way Kye wants to have things done. She still didn't have a chance to sip into her coffee and he already wants to talk about everything. It was easy to spot that the man does not know that relax exists in the world. From the second that her ass had collided into the seat, he already has this boss face on and she hated it more than anything else in the world. “We need to make sure that everyone thinks that this is a real relationship.” He injected, sipping into his coffee as he tapped into the table. She frowned at that. “I thought that was the main point of this?” “Don’t be smart.” Kye sighed, forehead creasing at her words. “Shouldn’t have hired me to begin with if that's what you wanted to achieve.” She bites back. A smirk escaped his lips. “I should not have. Maybe you can see me driving in a black corvette.” Page frowned, grabbing her coffee as she bit back her response. It took a lot of her not to sass him back. Having to be somoene was always the one who serves attitude, it displeases her that she has to bite down her tongue. It slowly raises her meter of wanting to punch this man. Kye could sometimes get very comfortable to diss with that she would not remember how easily he could trample all over her car. Knowing he has control over the whole things, he smiled. “So you need to make it believable.” Kye was amused with how she was composing herself. She would often change her expressions, effectively showing just how innocent she really was. Slowly slumping back into his chair, he sipped into his coffee. Everyone was buzzing around the coffee house but they were not bothered much as they were in a private booth that shades other people away from them. He wanted to know what kind of attack they needed to have to make this as short as possible. After all, he wanted to come back into his own life without worrying about anyone else. Page looked at the man before her, cautiously looking around the place. She frowned the question that is bugging her finally letting loose. “What is the point of all of these, exactly?” “Let’s just say that I am in a terrible situation right now, and having you carry the title of being my girlfriend would make them all vanish.” That didn’t answer her question. Page wasn’t sure how his mind was hardwared, but she knew that if he was this desperate to follow her through the weeks of her entering this school—it must have been big. Nobody would everything this detailed if they didn’t know that this would happen to them sooner or later. Page shrugged. “What do I need to do?” “First.” He started, straightening his seat. “We have to make this deal official.” Page raise a brow before she muttered a joke. “You sound so serious and solemn, acting like some businessman. Do you want us to sign contracts or some sort?” Kye looked at her in awe, surprised that she would have that as an immediate thought. It made Page seem genuinely shocked when the man placed what seems like an entire book into the table. Her mind thought that she was just being played around, but panic swirls into her eyes as she had seen the cursive of both of their names on a written contract with countless rules. It was safe to say that it was enough to make her freeze. “Will you please say that this is just the constitution book in a nutshell?” He chuckled, shaking his head. “That’s our contact, everything is in there. It took me the entire night.” The entire night!? It almost surprised her that he managed to finish it with the thickness of the thing, let alone in one single night. All of the rules have solid explanations and details. One section contains how much physical contact they were allowed to have and it makes her breathe normally when it was noted that he wasn't fond of PDA so she does not have to worry about that. Most are the possible situation that she was in. “Do you really expect me to read all of these?” Page questioned, frowning as she noticed that she had only got into the third page and she could not even remember half of what she had read. Kye shook his head, not really bothered. “All of that is for formalities, in case you decided to claim that the car is yours, or if I ended up having it after this.” Her eyes glazed back at him as he scoffed. “In the end, everything is just to make sure that we are both aware of the main goal.” “Are you usually this detailed?” She questioned, looking sideways to look at the size of the thing. He just nodded whilst she skims through the whole thing. Kye was good at one thing: controlling everything in his life. His friends would joke around and say that he is a good manipulator of their possible love life, questioning if he is the reason that they would meet a certain person. While he has the ability to do that, Kye mostly wanted to control his own life. Kye knew that his friends have the luxury to choose their own path. He did not need to meddle as they were all good people. Chaos in his life wouldn't sit right with him, he would always have a plan. When she passed a specific page, he stopped her to have her read the words carefully as she could. There was some soft pause for her. “Wait,” She trailed, reading the words for the last time to make sure she did not miss anything. “Now, hold on a minute! I am not moving into the dormitories.” He grinned, shaking the drink that he was holding. “I am afraid you have to.” “Na uh,” she shook her head, closing the book itself. “I don’t have to list—” Page stopped as soon as Kye twirled the key in front of her, grinning at the sight of her battling with her own mind. Despite her best interest, Page Asvette couldn’t really do much that was needed in her own survival. Being the only kid that her parents had, she was babied all her life, and functioning as a normal person inside a household was something foreign to her. “I believe you were saying something?” “Yes, I was.” She nodded, making the man raise his brow at her fierceness. The woman is possibly the only person in his life that could do that. “I was right from the start. You are an ass.” He grinned. “The ass who holds the corvette, sweetheart.” As Page skimmed everything in the book, one single thought entered her mind. This seemed too much—buying the car that she wants, doing all of these in a single night, and spending his possible free time with her just to show that they were real. “Why did you pick me?” Kye frowned, confused with her words. “What do you mean, sweetheart?” “I bet a lot of women want to do this with you.” She replied honestly as she continued flipping through the contract. “You flatter me.” She rolled her eyes, looking at him expectantly. Without even explaining things, he grabbed his phone and typed something into it. It took a minute before he handed her his phone, with him already pressing the lock. It has a passkey with a hint that says, “mine”. Frowning, she looked back at the man before her. “Maybe unlock it, asshole.” “Your name is my password, sweetheart.” She only shook her head. “It seems like you are also a creep.” “You’re my girlfriend, that gesture should be sweet.” He grinned, leaning on the table. “Or in my terms, should be considered as normal.” She frowned. “Did you research what couples usually do in a relationship?” “No, I am just aware of what makes a woman smile.” “Then you’re doing a very bad job at that.” Page replied. Kye released yet another chuckle upon hearing her response. Upon opening, the phone was already showing a f*******: account with a picture that was familiar to her. It was the one that she took when she was having some vacation to a foreign land. Her lips pulled a smile, remembering the day so vividly. What is fairly different is the fact that it holds a different name. “I didn’t pick you. That picture did. She was supposed to be my key to all of these.” “You were catfished?” she questioned, looking back at him. “Oh, my heavens.” “I was.” He frowned. “You’re so stupid,” She grumbled, her accent hitting the words. Kye almost spits out his coffee due to her words, a part of him already knows that she would have a retort to things like this. After all, she was the only one that seemed to impress him. She continued to look into the account, seeing that everything about that profile was believable. It was active since 2015 and had her following wherever she was headed. “She’s detailed.” She commented. “You’re perfect for each other.” “You’re hilarious.” Looking at the woman who was scrolling through the phone, Kye remembered thinking the exact same thing. It almost seemed a pity that the women he knew wasn’t real.
