Chapter Three In which Page fell into the trap. - [Page Asvette.] “Wait, excuse me?” I could not even take any word out before the man seemed annoyed. Frankly, I don’t even seem to care. If he’s peeved that I was bugging him, I am personally livid that they were doping this to me. I have searched for long and hard enough to find that item, and even gathered enough money that they were asking—but I got here only to know that it was already purchased? My mind was in a panic, utter chaos. I knew that I should have laid out a contract and put in some reservation fee, but they assured me that it was not needed. That is why I trusted them, seeing that this was their job. Now, not only am I hearing that I should have a lawyer friend in situation like these. “Listen, I have reserved that car. You told me that no contract or deposit is needed.” I informed him. It pains me that I do not have paperwork to show them since they assured me that this would not happen. Murrey, the one assigned to answer my question, seemed to be at a loss. I do not know if he was not aware of what was happening, or simply annoyed that he was stuck in this conversation for more than he liked. Despite that, he was kind enough to answer me despite his internal struggles. “Yes, we do that kind of work in vintage cars. Yours were different because nobody would think that anyone would be interested in the car, but you.” “Then, where is the car now?” “It has been bought, lady. I don’t know what else to tell you,” he informed me for what seemed like the hundredth time. My lips pulled into a tight smile. “Yes, I heard that. That is what you have told me since I arrived here. What I wanted to know is the reason why you allowed it. I reserved that car a month ago!” “Look, lady. I don’t know what to tell you.” the man wasn’t hiding his annoyance, eyes following me with utter dread before wiping his hands clean. “All I know is that it was already bought. We don’t hold the item anymore, whatever you say won’t help the buyer to return it. Pestering me would not wind up the time.” “Murrey, come and look at this car!” hollored another worker, which prompted the man to give me any further excuse to walk away from me. However, that wasn’t happening. I am desperate enough to have what is rightfully mine. If they are not willing to hand me that car, despite the money I have saved up for it—they are going to get through my many ramblings about it. My legs jogged with Murrey, followed by his soft sigh. He seemed to realize that I am not just letting this one go. “Can I ask who?” I asked, running up to him. He seemed confused, like his brain suddenly does not understand the words that I was saying, “I wanted to know who bought it. Can I have a name?” “I don’t know, lady. I just fix things. Even if I do, that is classified information that we are not allowed to share to customers. Now,” he beckoned to the car behind me. “I have a car that I needed to fix.” When the man walks past me, that was the only time that I notice a man not that far from where I was currently standing. He was a clear contrast of my panicked mine. Casuallyh twirling a familiar key in hand, he was prompted seated into the driver’s seat. I could easily see him since he had put the roof down. It was that damn man with an annoying smirk. “Hello, Page. Fancy seeing you here.” Kye smiled with a knowing grin. My hands fisted into my sides, looking at the car that he was sitting on. The car was still in mint condition as the place was good at doing their job—despite their lack of patience to wait for the original buyer. Everything about the car seemed to be just as what they are, only some were modified to have it function after the years of it just sitting out in a storage. “Isn’t she a beauty?” He asked, setting himself out of the car with a smile. I could see shades of mischief from his eyes, one that I do not really like to dwell on. With a confident huff, he gloated. “I purchased a gem.” I looked at him with closed eyes, “That’s mine.” “Now, that is where you’re wrong, my dear Page.” he smiled knowingly, flailing the key before my very eyes, “The care is mine, I just bought it.” “I’ll buy it! How much do you—” He stops my words before I could utter them. “What makes you think I’ll set it to you?” I cringed at the tone of his voice, biting my lips before looking back to the car. Even with her old age, that holds a lot of value to me. It was the main reason as to why I chose to study at this school—because I know for a fact that this car was being restored in this place. “What do you want?” I asked, walking towards him, “I need that car, I’ll negotiate. We can work things out if you don’t need my money.” “Really?” He paused, seemingly interested with the offer. “Anything!” I injected, wanting to keep him hooked as he already have. However, upon seeing the smile creep into his face, that was when I took a step back. “Anything but your lewd desires. Don’t—” A loud laugh bubbled upon his chest, seeing my words quite amusing. He took a full minute before he stopped, shaking his head with an amused expression. “You already know what I want, sweetheart.” That was when I froze, remembering what he told me when he was running on the track—then this would explain why he was such an enigma by then. But, how did he even know that I was purchasing this car? He looks at me expectantly, as if he already knows what my answer is. My head shook at the offer. “I would rather die.” “That’s fine with me,” he smiled. As if everything was against me this day, that was the exact same time the owner walked up to hand him the papers that he needed to sign so he could get the car out of the place. When his hand touched the documents, that was the time that I pulled Kye’s sleeves which caught his interest. “Is there a problem here?” the owner asked, frowning at us. He shook his head whilst his eyes were focused on mine. I knew that he wanted me to say something as he uttered his words. “Well, is there a problem?” “Is there anything else that I could do? Please.” I whispered into his ear. “No,” he answered with a smile. The i***t opened the cap of the pen, which made me tug his sleeves again, setting those sparkling eyes back to mine. A frown was now printed into the owner’s face, probably confused at what was happening. However, the man before me seems nonchalant—as if he’s waiting to get what he wanted most. I don’t want to do it. “K, is there a problem here? Do you know her? Because I can have a guard to let her lea—” “I am his girlfriend!” I chirped, forcing a smile. “Oh!” He then smiled at me, looking nothing but sweet as he nodded in understanding. The dangerous demenour from earlier seemed to have evaporated with a simple phrase from me. Offering his hand, he greeted me carefully. “My name is Lancelot Jones. It’s good to meet the reason why he had bought a pink vintage car. I thought that I finally got a glimpse of who he was for a second.” Kye simple nodded his head with a smile. “Yes, Lance. That is why I bought a pink vintage car. For my one and only girlfriend.” His hands moved around me with a smile printed into his lips. Slowly, his head descends on my ear whispering that we’re going to talk things out soon enough. And with that, I sealed a deal with an annoying p*****t. Oh heavens, help me.
