Energy test

Elrisa’s remark about Hyacinth Avaren and her family immediately makes a lot of scouts down, but it was the other way for reporters as they have gotten precious news today. The possibilities of rising stars coming from this batch of hero examinations are pretty high. Not to mention that they have someone with an S-rank evaluation. It can be said as one of the best results in the past ten years.

Max, however, doesn’t really know about the political and famous families as he is more interested as to why he is attracted to the girl.

“Is it because of her sensitivity that I am attracted to her? Maybe I can feel her aura emanating because of her sensitivity.”

Max didn’t think much about it as he is focusing more on his test. For example, examining the time needed for the other to reach D-rank, and he did the same thing.

“Participant 777, D-rank.”

Staying true to his goal, Max’s score is at D-rank, not over and not less. After all of the participant has finished with their sensitivity test, next will be the energy test.

“Alright, everyone, this is the last part of the first stage of the hero examination. After this, we will have our lunch break before proceeding with the second stage. So if you’re hungry, then please do it fast. Anyone who finished can go and have their break first.”

 Although the first stage of the hero examination test is only gauging the participant's strength, it is tiring for them nevertheless due to the waiting and the nervousness that they experience. Therefore, having a break at this point couldn’t be more suitable.

Just when people couldn’t anticipate having their break, a commotion breaks out once again when they discovered someone with a good result for the energy test.

“Participant 2599, energy B-rank.”

Iki already got into the scout's eyes as he achieved B-rank for power and C-rank for energy. But, now, a new dark horse emerged as this person managed to get B-rank on the energy test.

“Wow! What’s with the people in this batch of hero examination tests? Did you agree to come out together or what? Let me check. Participant 2599, Heinrich Blue. Power D+, speed D, sensitivity D, energy B-rank. Now, scouts who haven’t gone to get their lunch are in luck since you could get a head start. Here, it seemed that Heinrich Blue isn’t affiliated with any company or got any sponsor. I don’t recall a family named Blue in the hero scene too.”

 Max looked at the screen that is showing a thin man and shorter than average. There were no special features except for his slender physique, which is in a sorrier state than Max when Kalina first saw him.

“What’s with the test this time? There are so many geniuses. Not to mention that they are all still young. Are they trying to snatch the opportunity from veterans like us?”

“I know, right. This is the third time I’m taking the test, and although I will pass, I won’t be able to find a sponsor at this rate. These kids are too frightening.”

Max only realized it now when he heard people talking in the surroundings. Although Elrisa didn’t mention the age of Iki, Giovanni, Hyacinth, and Heinrich, Max could see that they must have been in their teens just like him. At most, the oldest among them will be 19 years old.

Suddenly, Max remembers something after reading Heinrich Blue’s name, which is shown on the screen.

“Heinrich Blue… Heinrich Blue… where have I heard his name? Oh! I remember it now. Big sis said that someone from the United Heroes school might have a good result in this test, which would be this Heinrich. Does it mean that the other three aren’t from the United Heroes school?”

What Max is guessing is 100% correct. Nobody knows where does Iki comes from, as there’s no record about him previously. As for Giovanni, he has been having homeschooling with private tutors for elites throughout his life, and no record of him having his appraisal test either.

Hyacinth is more of a special case since she is taught directly by her family. With her family's background, it can be said that the training that she has is even more specialized and customized for her. With the advantage that her family could give, they feel that there is no need for them to send Hyacinth to the United Heroes school.

Heinrich Blue can be said to be the savior of the United Heroes school’s face. As the result of the other student can only be called average at most.

While thinking of the geniuses that took the hero’s examination today, Max feels that he won’t even stand out if he reveals his real strength in the test. But, as it is a good thing to avoid trouble, he won’t do it. After all, he also still has his promise to Kalina.

After queueing for his food, Max is trying to find a place to sit. Unfortunately, due to more than two thousand eight hundred people that are taking the test, the area is crowded. Max can roughly see that some spots are more jam-packed than the rest.

The first spot is around Iki Hawthorn, where people are soliciting him. They are trying to make a connection with him since they heard that he has no background. Some also have a hidden agenda to recruit him to join the companies that are sponsoring them.

The second spot is around Heinrich, and most of them are the students of the United Heroes school that attend it together with him. Of course, they can be said friend or acquaintances at best, but it is still better talking and having lunch together with the people you know than eating alone.

The third spot naturally belongs to the star of today’s examination with an S-rank result, Giovanni Goldlock. However, the crowd around Giovanni didn’t dare to come too close to him. Around Giovanni, the butler Neil, five maids, and seven stewards are all present. It seemed that all the maids and stewards even registered for the hero examination test just to accompany the young master. It can be seen that the money needed to register for the test didn’t even matter for the young master.

The lunch that Giovanni enjoyed is different from the rest as it was personally cooked by his maids. The ordinary cafeteria of the United Heroes headquarters somehow turned into a fine dining restaurant just for Giovanni’s table.
