S-Rank

Other than Iki, there are a few people with good results and achieve C-rank, but clearly, the commotion it caused is less dazzling than Iki’s since his result overshadowed the rest. As the last person finished with their strength assessment, once again, Elrisa guided them through the process.

“How’s the result of your strength assessment? Are you feeling satisfied with it? Scouts, did you find someone noteworthy yet? Next, we’re going to test your speed. Please follow the lights and line up according to your earlier group.”

Max didn’t show any notable performance. He got a solid D as he is holding back more than half of his power. However, he is satisfied with it since his aim is to get a D-rank. Moving on to the speed test, Max is now counting the time needed by the others that got D-rank. He also tried to remember the speed chart that Kalina told him before.

“So, 4.5-6 seconds is D-rank, 3.5-4.5 seconds is C-rank, 2-3.5 is-B rank, 1-2 is A-rank and below that will be S-rank. Okay, I think getting it at 5 seconds is good enough.”

Max takes his test leisurely. He is taking more time examining other people, and not once or twice he saw someone that failed the test. If your test result shows that you are unranked, you won’t be able to get your hero license. So some decided to quit, and some choose to demonstrate their ability at another test to appeal and hope that some company will sponsor them.

Kalina has explained it to him before that on one test, there’s someone that got an unranked result on all aspects except for his speed that reached A-rank. So a company decided to gamble with him and sponsored him for the next test, and it proved to be a great success as the person reached D-rank at the next test and quickly climb his way up to A-rank.

It is a rare case, but people are always holding onto some dream in order to move forward.

“0.98 seconds, S-rank!”

If what Iki caused earlier is a commotion, this time, it was as if the whole dome is shaking because of an earthquake. The moment the result is announced, everyone is in an uproar. Even Max is showing great interest since this is the best result that comes out so far, and he wanted to know what kind of person is delivering such stellar performance and dare to do it openly.

Right now, the person on the large screen is a man with a white suit and neatly combed hair. Max remembers him as his entrance is as flashy with all of his retainers. He isn’t even showing extreme happiness or anything like that. His expression is more of a smug smile as this result is something that should come out naturally.

“Wow, the result is even better than mine. Boy, have you ever thought of working for this lady? Ah, before we go into details, let me announce it first. Participant number 999, Giovanni Goldlock. Wait, are you from that Goldlock family? It seems that even if I offered you everything, I wouldn’t be able to make you work for me unless I offer my body. What do you say? The moment she said that many people on the site wanted to cough out blood due to the damage they received from her words just now. As for the more serious people, they immediately scrapped their thoughts when they heard that Giovanni’s family name is Goldlock.

None of the scouts doesn’t know the name Goldlock. It is one of the oldest relatives of the royal family exist to date. But, casting their connection to the royalty aside, the Goldlock family is well-known for their business empire. Almost 25% of the world’s economy has something to do with the companies under the Goldlock family.

Giovanni only smiled at Elrisa and didn’t say anything as he returned back to his seat. He didn’t even care about the commotion that he has caused as if nothing entered his eyes. Actually, with his family background, he could spend his life in riches and stay out of the public’s eye. However, coming out in the open and becoming a hero, there must be a special reason behind his participation in the test.

After that, none reached C-rank in the speed category. Even Iki only showed D-rank, but it still makes his name more favourable in the scout's eyes, not to mention that he has no sponsors.

Max’s performance is enough to put him in another solid D-rank assessment, and he is happy with it. And despite all the attention that the crowd shows to Iki and Giovanni, Max’s eye is actually attracted to one individual.

It was the girl that was escorted by the giant bird. Somehow, Max can feel something emanating from the girl’s body that makes him couldn’t take his eye away from her. Finally, the girl noticed his stare, and their gaze met.

The girl lowered her head shyly before she raises it again and nods at Max. Instinctively, Max nodded back at her, and then she turned her head away. But, to be honest, Max still doesn’t understand why this girl attracts him so much.

Finally, the speed test ended, and they are moving on to the test on sensitivity. Although the test on sensitivity and energy is done using one device, they are still doing it separately since changing the setting of the device for every person will take too much time.

Iki’s result for sensitivity is another D-rank, while Giovanni didn’t bother to hide his power and achieve C-rank. After that is announced, everyone looked enviously at Giovanni. S-rank for speed and C-rank for sensitivity; even if he reaches D-rank for energy, he will still get the C-rank comfortably.

As soon as his test result is mentioned, he will enter the public eyes as a rising star alongside Yuna. Actually, his hero license will be at D-rank, and only when he finishes two C-rank advancement missions will his hero license be updated to C-rank. However, it will only be a matter of time. That is the same case for everyone. The hero examination test will only give you a D-rank hero license as rank advancement requires a trial and enough accomplishment for a higher rank.

Finally, the dome goes into a frenzy once again as there’s someone that achieves another shocking rank on the sensitivity test. Max looked at the screen, and it is the girl that he is looking at earlier.

“I can’t believe that I will be announcing this for the third time today. Participant number 2008, A-rank sensitivity. Hyacinth Avaren. Oh my, it seems that we have two prodigies from two famous families participating today. Hold your horses' scouts, this girl is from the Avaren family.”

If the Goldlock family is famous as a businessman family, then the Avaren family is a select few families famous among the professional hero’s scene. The Avaren family is renowned for the superpower that seemed to be passed down in their lineage as all heroes that come from this family have the same ability, which is to control giant birds.

 It must have something to do with the secret that this family is holding since the birds they control are giants. An average dove maximum size will be 12 to 14 inches long at most. However, the dove that this family control is around fifty feet.
