The other man at the table was much younger, about the age of Ellerby or Duncan, though he did not lure Rebecca the way either of those lovers did. Philip Avery seemed a bit too polished, almost as though he was the male flip side of Jessica—too formal and too kind. His thin face showed a pointy nose, two nondescript pale eyes and a smile too sweet for a man—in Rebecca’s opinion. The three young women at the table were each arrayed as she was—like confections.
