Chapter Five The horse drawn carriage clopped over cobblestone, the grey horse prancing so friskily the driver had to restrain him with a tight grip on the reins. Inside the carriage the two women rode in near silence—the beautiful one dressed in elegant grey and the despondent one in old rags. “First thing we do is buy you some clothes,” the Lady Jessica sighed as her cute nose turned up in disgust at her niece’s shabby attire. “How about a bath?” Rebecca asked. Jessica smiled. “Of course, though I’m too delicate a woman to mention such things. I’m sure your complexion would improve in a hot tub of bubbly water. “Are your wounds bad?” Rebecca was taken by surprise—the question one she never expected. “I don’t know I haven’t seen what is left.
