CHAPTER 28: REMINISCING THE PAST

1169 Words
Saturday, Zane and Aera were on their way going home to the Third District. It was just six in the morning. There are only a few passengers on the bus. The sky was clear and the weather seemed perfect. "Did you tell your father we're planning to find your mother?" he asked. "No." She shook her head. "He did not tell me that they had already separated and my mother already remarried. I need to find out the truth." "I'm sorry to hear that. It must be difficult not to have your mother around and you don't know where she is." "She's not my real mother." She glanced at Zane, then looked at her feet. She slightly kicked the crumpled paper near her foot. "I don't know who my mother is, and they are keeping her from me. They said it is for her good, that she will be in danger once everyone finds out who my mother is." "She's immortal," Zane whispered. "Right, you are one, so she is probably immortal, too." "I wonder if she is longing for me, or if she thinks of me." "I'm sure she is," he comforted her. "She's probably in a tight situation where she could not do anything but remain in the shadows." "Maybe..." "Aera, what powers do you have?" Zane asked in a low voice to change the topic. "Is it the same as Eurus?" "No, mine is different." She looked around. "I'll show it to you later." "Right." He forgot they were in a public place. He remained silent and looked outside the window. They still have around two hours to travel before reaching their town. *** Althea was busy preparing lunch. Zane called earlier and told them he was coming home to visit. He also said he was with a friend. She sighed while stirring the sauce. "My son is already grown up." She suddenly recalled what happened in the past. "Althea," the man called from behind her. She turned around and she saw the man she only loved in her entire life. He is tall and lean. She loved his oval-shaped face, and his deep-set blue eyes spoke of knowledge and seemed to see through her. His perfectly straight nose bridge to its tip is aesthetically beautiful, and his heart-shaped lips have a prominent cupid's bow and heavier lower lip. She wanted to kiss it and touch it with her fingertips. He walked slowly closer to her then he hugged her tight. The doctor's news was a bomb to her ears. "You're pregnant," the doctor said to Althea, but her forehead wrinkled, seemed she could not believe it. "How did it happen that you're a virgin yet I saw a fetus in your ultrasound? I checked your genitals and you are fully intact." She had no idea who the man was, and how she got pregnant from her dream. She was also puzzled by the words Atlas said in her dream. Bren knows about her past and accepts Zane as his real son. She is grateful to him, and thanking the heavens for finding the best father to her children. She loves him, more than how she loves Zane's real father —the man in her dream. Her thoughts came back to the present when Bren called her attention. "Honey, are you done with the sauce?" She just noticed she kept on stirring it. "R-right, I'm almost done." "Did your son tell you if he is bringing a friend or a girlfriend?" he asked. "I'm not sure, but your son is already grown up. He is probably bringing a girlfriend." "I'm sure he chose the right girl. He takes after me, I got the best woman in the world." He hugged her from behind and kissed her hair. "Hey, do you want to have another child?" She slapped his arm. "Why not?" Bren laughed, teasing his wife. "Your son has a visitor today. Let me finish this." She turned her head and kissed him on the lips. "Let's talk about it later." She winked. "I'm getting excited." He kissed her again on her hair before letting her go. "I'll go to the garage first and clean the car." Bren went out of the kitchen. It was still a mystery to her that she got pregnant in her dream, but she never regrets having Zane. She is happy and content, hoping this happiness will last forever. ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎
