CHAPTER 13: SAVE WINSOR

1772 Words
"The club is almost behind that park, just a few blocks from there." His father pointed at the private park of the village. "Are there any kids my age in that club? I want to make friends." "There are, of course." Zane peeked out the window, scanning the neighbourhood of the archery club, when he saw a huge man carrying a sack with something moving inside it. He recognized the man because he was bulky and taller than normal people he knew. His father is six feet tall, but this man is a lot taller than his Dad. "Dad! Stop! Stop!" They passed by the van. His father stopped the car. "Why? What's wrong?" "That man was the one who kidnapped my classmate!" He pointed at the huge man with a sack on his shoulder. "It could be Winsor inside that sack!" The man placed the sack in the van and then he hopped in. The van drove away. "Dad! What should we do?" "What the heck?!" His father did not think too much and made a quick U-turn to follow the van. He picked up his phone and called the police. "Hello, is this the police station?" he asked the person on the other line. "Yes, may I know your concern?" the man asked. "My son's classmate was kidnapped earlier, and we accidentally saw the kidnappers. We are following them," his father said. He is still following the van even though he is talking to the police. "The kidnap victim was..." "Winsor Stewart," Zane said. "Winsor Stewart," his father repeated the name for the police officer to hear it. "Wait, Sir, that is quite dangerous. Do not come close to them, understood? Please provide your name and your current location." "I am Bren Cole, and I am currently driving, following the black van with no plate number." The black van turned right at the intersection, "We entered the expressway, going out of the city. I-5 Highway." "We are tracking your phone now. Please stay on the line, Sir." "Okay, please hurry up before we lose them." Bren glanced at his son. "Are you okay there, buddy?" "Yes, Dad." He felt nervous yet excited. "It's fun to track down criminals. I feel like this is a movie!" "This is no fun, son. We are in danger, and so is your classmate." He sighed heavily. "I should not be doing this but your friend needs our help." "He's not my friend, though," he said to himself; he did not say it loudly. His father taught him to be good and considerate to everyone, especially to those who need help. "Where are they planning to take the kid? We are quite far from the city." He looked around the area; there were no houses or buildings around. He felt anxious about the kidnapper's plan. "Are they trying to kill him? But who are they? Why did they kidnap him in the first place?" The car stopped near an empty lot full of shrubs and wild tall grass. "This is not good..." Zane saw anxiousness in his father's face. They saw the huge man pulling the sack and putting it on his shoulder. The driver also got out of the van and followed the huge man. "The police are taking so long." He looked behind the car and no one followed them. "Stay right here." "What? No, Dad. They might hurt you!" Zane protested. He is worried about his father. "Just stay right here." Bren carefully got out of the car and followed them. "Dad!" He got out of the car but he didn't see which way his father went. The wild grass is almost as tall as his father's. "Zane?" someone called his name from behind. "What are you doing in this place?" "Eurus?!" He was so happy to see his saviour. He ran towards him and hugged him. "I am so happy you are here!" he said while crying. "Why? What is wrong?" the mysterious man asked. He is wearing silver armour and silver wristbands on his arms. "We followed the kidnappers and they went there. My father followed them! Please, save my Dad!" Eurus looked around. "I can't leave you alone here. The Kakodaimons are reported to be around here. Come." He squatted. "Hop on my back and hold on tight." Zane followed his instructions. He wrapped his arms around Eurus' neck and held him tightly. He was shocked when they floated above the tall grass and shrubs. "We're flying! Awesome!" His jaw dropped when he saw everything from above. "I am the god of the west wind, Eurus." He smiled. "Have you not heard of Greek gods?" Zane shook his head. "I have not heard about them. Maybe in school when I am older. I will ask Dad to buy me books about Greek gods." "I am just a minor god, but I can do a good job in protecting humans." He scanned the movements in the shrubs. He saw men fighting, and a movement inside the sack lying on a pile of dried grass. "There they are!" Eurus went on a quick landing. "Stop right there." The huge man stopped and looked at them. "Dad!" Zane ran to his father, who was lying on the bush, eyes half-opened. He got a bruise on his cheek and wounds on his arms. "Are you alright?" "I am alright, kid," he said before closing his eyes. "Dad!" He tapped his father's face, but he did not wake up. "Who are you?" Robert asked. Standing beside him is the driver of the van, massaging his face full of bruises and blood. "Surrender now or you will regret it," he said. "Return that kid to us safely." Eurus pointed at the sack. "What if I say no?" Robert did not think anymore. He attacked Eurus, only to get shocked when the wind god took out his sword and floated. The huge man stopped. "Y-you are not a human being." "I am not." He slashed the huge man twice, which created cross wounds on his body. The wounds healed faster than normal. "You are not human either." Robert's body turned violet, funnels appeared all over his skin. Funnels are tubular openings that serve as a pathway for water. The driver got scared when he saw it. He was about to run away but Robert ran fast and grabbed him in an instant. "Where are you going, human?" He shook his head. "Scared of me?" "Stay away from me, you monster!" He fell on the ground while trying to escape. "Why did I even work with you? If I only knew you were a monster, I wouldn't even dare talk to you! Stay away from me!" "I am a sea monster, but you are also a monster who kills your kind, even a kid." He pointed to the sack where Winsor was still inside. "He will pay the law of man," Eurus blocked Robert from harming the driver. "I am your match. Fight me." Robert snarled. His arms changed into the legs of an Octopus. He attacked again and tried to grab Eurus but the god was faster than him. He did a rapid s***h that Zane could not even see. "Tornado attack!" He let out a giant tornado. It hit Robert and lifted him from the ground. "Wind s***h!" He did a rapid s***h and a sharp edge winds hit the body of Robert. Zane could not believe what he saw. The huge man is not human. His jaw dropped when he saw the chopped Octopus arms circling because of the tornado. "That is one enormous tornado!" The chopped body of the octopus man disappeared. Eurus looked at the driver. He keeps on murmuring things no one could understand. Eurus shook his head. He walked towards Zane. "How is your father?" "He is not waking up. Help me, please." Zane's tears started to cry. Eurus sat down and checked his father. "Don't worry, Zane. He is still alive." He placed his hand on his father's chest, it released a light and healed the wounds and bruises of Bren. "You can heal, too? You are awesome! Thank you for saving me again!" He cried because his father was safe now. Zane already decided he would be like Eurus someday, saving and doing good things for other people. "The police could take him as the kidnapper. Unfortunately, that big guy is gone. They can never find him to put in jail." They heard a siren not too far from them. "They are here now. Just tell them the big man escaped. This one already lost his sanity. I'm leaving now." He was about to leave when he remembered the kid in the sack. He bent down and placed his hand on the kid's head. "You will forget everything you heard here." He stood up and flew away quickly before the police arrived. "Bren Cole? Where is Bren Cole?" one of the male police officers asked. "He's my father, unconscious, Sir," Zane answered back. "Where is the kid and the kidnapper?" "The huge man got scared of my father and ran. His companion is there."He pointed at the man sitting on the ground and murmuring things. "Winsor is still inside that sack." "Men, get that driver." The police officer went to the sack and opened it. He saw the kid still trying to get free from the duct tape. "Stop moving, kid." The police officer removed the eye cover and the duct tape on his mouth. "The hell they are trying to kill me! That huge man!" Winsor shouted. "Okay, just stay quiet while I am trying to free you." He was able to remove the child's duct tape on his arms and feet. "Winsor, Winsor!" The city councillor arrived together with his wife. "My child!" Winsor stood up and ran towards his mother. "Mom!" He cried so loud that it could be heard everywhere. "Dad!" "The octopus has huge arms. It is so scary. I need to run away and hide from the octopus..." the driver keeps on repeating these words. "Who is that?" Winsor's mother asked. Showing disgust while looking at the driver. "He was the accomplice in your kid's k********g incident. The kidnapper already ran away." The police officer looked around. "And he is Bren Cole. He was the one who called us and saved your son. Thank him later once he wakes up." Winsor looked at them and saw Zane. He could not say anything but to thank him. "Thank you for saving me." Zane just nodded and hugged his father who was still unconscious.
