Chapter 29 Fear

[..] While they all watched, Damon and Damien leave with Stella. Abbadon walked over to Saleos after he had put Bella in the car. “Saleos! You are the one in charge now, you know what to do.” He spoke, as Saleos nodded. Then he went back to the car. He was followed by a couple of other demons, as they drove off. The rest of Damon’s men stayed behind, keeping Kyan, Jaze, Vicca and Lior, and Armaros’ men in place. “Pithius and Zagan, take their weapons..” Saleos ordered, as they did what he said, and removed all the weapons. “Lucky for you, Mr. Mortem is letting you go.. Being loyal isn’t a bad thing, if any of you want to state your loyalty to Mr. Mortem, he is willing to let this slide; you can return with us,” he explained. “And if we don’t?” Shax asked, as he crossed his arms. “Then you will be listed as traitors, and you won’t be able to return to your homes, you will be exiled, and you will have nowhere to go.” He stated. There was silence for a moment as they all looked at each other. “I’m definitely not staying here!” Amon stated, as he walked over to Saleos. “Really, Amon?” Corson shot in disbelief. “What? Armaros doesn’t care about us anyway, he chose that half wolf, half.. Something over us, I’m not letting myself get exiled for that!” Amon defended. “Great, anyone else? No?” Saleos spoke, but as no one else said anything, he just shrugged. “Suit yourselves, good luck surviving in a werewolf territory.” Saleos stated carelessly. “What about them? Do they get to leave?” Baal asked, as he pointed at Kyan, Jaze, Vicca and Lior, as Saleos for a moment observed them all. “Well, they really aren’t of any use to us,” he started, before he focused on Vicca, and then grinned. “But.. Maybe we should take the witch too. I believe Mr. Mortem would appreciate another one for his collection,” Saleos suggested, as he grabbed hold of Vicca’s arm, and pulled her closer. “Let her go!” Kyan yelled, as his eyes started shifting, while he stepped towards Saleos, but at the same time, Zagan shot Kyan in the leg, making him fall to the ground in pain. “NO! Kyan! Let me go – Kyan!” Vicca cried out, as she tried getting free from Saleos’ hold. “You better calm down, before you end up with a bullet hole too, witch.” He warned, as he took out his gün and pointed at her. “How about everyone just calm, the fück down, this is only kids, and Damon already got what he wanted, so why don’t you just let them go?” Baal argued, as Saleos turned his attention to him. “You know what, Baal? I think I’m starting to understand why you didn’t know anything about this.. You have all gone soft on these wolves. None of you used to care about whether a werewolf died or not, but now you are protecting them!” Saleos threw at him. “It has nothing to do with being soft, some of us just realized that we aren’t that different, as we have been taught to believe we are,” Baal defended, as he glanced at them before turning back to Saleos. “Then you are being stupid Baal, they are nothing like us, they are more like animals, and it won’t make a difference if one dies, ‘Cause they won’t hesitate to kill one of us if they get the chance,” Saleos stated, as he pushed Vicca towards Zagan, who had just shot Kyan, and then pointed his own gün at Kyan. “Please no!” Vicca screamed, but just as he was going to pull the trigger, Vlad showed up and pulled the gün out of his hand, and snapped the guy’s neck, before doing the same to Zagan. All of it happened in a matter of seconds and when he had done that, he then made sure that Vicca was all right. As soon as she realized what had happened, she ran over to Kyan, and they hugged each other. “Someone else who plans to try their luck?” Vlad growled, as they soon were surrounded by wolves as well, who were growling at them. They quickly threw their weapons and put their hands in the air, as they clearly weren't ready to start a fight with them. “Those of you who are friends of Armaros', don’t have to worry,” Vlad spoke as he looked at Baal and gave a nod, which Baal returned. Baal then looked around, but then his eyes caught Shax, who apparently still stood with his hands in the air, making Baal roll his eyes. “What the fück are you doing, Shax?” He asked, as Shax looked at Baal. “What? He is fücking scary.” He replied, as he wasn’t sure whether he should keep his hands in the air or take them down. “I’m not going to kill you, Shax. I know you are a close friend of Stella's.” Vlad spoke, as Shax looked surprised at Vlad, as he slowly took his hands down. “Speaking of which.. Where are Stella and Bella?” Vlad asked. “Damon and Damien took Stella with them and Bella was in another car. They drove off just a couple of minutes ago.” Jaze stated, as some of the wolves ran off. Vlad picked up his phone as he called a number. “Hi, yeah, Damon got her!” He stated before he hung up the phone. [Stella’s POV] “You stay here with her!” Damon stated, as he stepped out of the car and left me alone with Damien. I was worried about what was going on, but then I suddenly heard a familiar voice. “Everyone is safe, you don’t have to worry, our parents are here.” Bella spoke through a mind link. I felt relieved to know the others were alright – especially Bella, ‘cause I feared what they would have done to her. At this point, I just needed to figure out how to get myself out of the situation I was in. “You know what’s going on, don’t you?” Damien suddenly snarled at me, as I ignored his eye contact. “I have no idea of what you are talking about.” I dismissed him, as he, at the same time, pushed me down to the seat, taking me off guard. “You lie a lot to someone who claims to speak the truth.” He stated, as he hovered over me. I soon realized the shock on my face gave me away because a smirk suddenly started to spread along his face, as he grabbed my arms and pulled them over my head. “You can’t really do anything, can you?” He taunted, as he pressed himself against me, making me clamp my eyes so hard together as I felt anger and disgust grow inside of me. “Look at me, little wolf!” Damien demanded. “Let go of me, Damien, or you will regret it.” I warned him, as I opened my eyes again. I wasn’t even sure why I challenged him like that, but I wasn’t just going to let him do as he liked. “Did you find a little fight in there? This is definitely going to be fun.” He stated as he tightened his hold on my wrists. “Please show me, but just remember, if you fail to impress me, I will take what I want right here in the car, and I won’t care who’s watching.” He whispered into my ear, as I felt an overwhelming wave flow through my body, fighting to be let out, so I did. But, the energy was so powerful that Damien rose in the air, before he hit the car roof and landed back on the floor, making him groan in pain. My eyes immediately widened, and for a moment, I was frozen to my spot. “What the hell did I just do?” I thought to myself as I at the same moment, heard a gün shot, making me fear that Damon had shot whoever there had shown up. The only thing I was sure of was, that I didn’t plan to take the chance and wait, just to find out. I had to get out of the car before Damon came back, if I should have a chance to run. But both doors were locked and when I tried forcing them up, the handles just broke off. “You little bítch! You’re going to regret that little stunt!” Damien suddenly growled, making me jerk my head towards him, as I saw he had pulled himself off the floor. I began hammering my shoulder against the door, but it still wouldn’t barge. “Why don’t you just quit?" he exclaimed, as he held his gün towards me. I leaned against the door, as he came all close to me, and grabbed harshly onto my face with one hand as he held the gün against my cheek. “Get it in to that pretty head of yours - No one is coming to save you..” He stated just as someone opened the door behind him, and I was sure my chance to escape disappeared as that door opened. But what I saw was not what I expected. Instead of Damon, I saw Armaros pointing a gün as he, without hesitation, shot Damien in the back, making him immediately fall to the ground. At that point, I wasn’t certain if Damien was passed out, or if he was dead, but the floor was quickly covered in blood, as Armaros lowered his gün again, and looked at me. “Are you okay? He asked, as I nodded my head. “Yeah, I think so.” I replied. I was a little shaken up, but apart from that, I was fine. “Good, here.” He then reached his hand for me, which I gladly took, before he proceeded to pull me with him to a car parked in the middle of the road, so it clearly was blocking the roadways. When we stepped out, I saw the driver lying dead on the road, but Damon was nowhere to be seen, and it made me wonder if he had just run away. As we drove off, I could clearly see Armaros was angry. No, he wasn’t just angry, more like furious, but he didn’t say anything, though I could clearly feel it radiating from him. The whole way, we drove in complete silence until we reached the forest not far from the tribe. It was already dark as we had reached the place, but still, we sat there for a couple of minutes. I thought it meant he was going to say something, but he continued not to say a single word, so I decided to confront him as soon as he stepped out of the car. “If you wanna say something, then just say it.” I called out bluntly, as he turned to me. “Fine.. That was the most irresponsible thing you have ever done!” He scolded me. “What did you expect? You were just going to let Damien shoot Bella, so I didn’t have much of a choice, did I?” I fired back. “If it saves your life, then I do not care who is getting in the middle of it!” Armaros defended, making me frown. “You should care, ‘cause I would not be able to live with myself if anyone were to get hurt or die on my behalf, Armaros!” “And what about you? You care too little about your own life, Stella, someone has to be willing to throw everything else away for you, when you aren’t even capable of doing it yourself! If that makes you hate me, so be it, but I love you too much to let anything happen to you – even if it means someone else has to die!” Armaros growled, as we glared at each other, but I couldn’t hold it for long. “Arh, why do you have to be so stubborn and frustrating?!” I yelled as I turned away from him, but he pulled me back, as he looked at me with this penetrating look I had seen once before, back when he wanted to kill that waiter. “Hell, I am, and I do not care about that. I will always choose your life over anyone else’s!” He snapped before he kissed me until I was almost out of breath. As he pulled away, I pushed him away, which seemed to take him off guard. “You don’t get the right to act like some freaking Alpha-male to me. I know you're acting like this because you’re scared. I am too – but despite the fear, I still wanna do the right thing! I don’t wanna hide behind my fear like you do, at least not anymore!” I shot, as tears ran down my face, when I turned my back to him. “Okay, if it makes you feel better to know, then yes, you are right, I am scared.” Armaros spoke as I paused. “You do know that it wasn’t just for any reason I didn’t tell others about what you are, Stella..” Armaros started as he looked at me when I turned back to him. “.. If the rumors spread that there is a hybrid here, many more will most likely come for you.. All those men who work for my father, they all saw what you can do, and they, definitely, will spread it around.. Plus, my father.. I might have stopped him today, but I know he won’t give up, so I fear what he plans to do next, and I fear that others are going to show up and try to take you away. But what I fear the most is, if they succeed in doing so, because I won’t be able to do a damn thing about it, like when you decided to shove me through that portal, Stella, I felt like a fücking i***t, do you know that!” He hissed. “I’m sorry Armaros, but I had to make sure no one was getting hurt..” I defended, as Armaros sighed in frustration. “Why is it when you try to do something it’s the right thing, but when I try to do the exact same thing, I’m selfish? The only difference is, that you try to protect others by sacrificing yourself, while all I try to do is an attempt to protect you?” “Maybe I don’t need protection.” “Someone has to, when you aren’t even willing to do it yourself.. And if that makes me selfish, then I don’t care, ‘cause I wouldn’t change a single thing about it – I will never regret choosing you above everyone else.” He exclaimed, and just by looking into his eyes I knew there was no way of changing his mind. “Then let’s hope it won’t come to that.” I spoke. “We can hope, but from what I know, my father will keep coming for you. He won’t stop before he either; gets what he wants, or he dies, and I’m gonna go for the last part.” He exclaimed, as I sighed. “If there is going to be a next time, then we will make sure to be prepared for it.” I replied as he walked up to me and took my hands. “Not ‘if’, Stella, there is undoubtedly going to be a next time.” [..] “Is he still alive?” Damon asked, as the woman beside him bowed down next to Damon’s body. “Barely, he has lost a lot of bloòd.” She stated, and used her magic to close the wound. “Make sure he gets to the clinic immediately.” Damon ordered. Then some of Damon’s men carried Damien out to the other car, while Damon picked up the silver suitcase, which was still standing on the floor. “Shooting his own brother, he has clearly gone too far, but if a war is what he wants, then let’s give him one.” Damon spoke, as he opened the suitcase and took one of the blood-filled tubes out and grinned.
