I had to change my gear in preparations for my foray into the city. I also held off on buying a Genjutsu and that was in part a suggestions from Arashi. To put it simply, the Kiryū had a bloodline that was a little opposing to Genjutsu, the bloodline and chakra flow was extremely brash and wild as opposed to other clans, and Genjutsu required subtle controls that we surprisingly didn’t have or have to extensively train to gain, when an even more subtle approach is needed for the seals we create, it just didn’t make sense.
It probably had to do with our bloodline, but the bottoms line is, Kiryū and Genjutsu don’t mix well. So the best thing to do, would be to wait until my spirit and mind stats reach at least 60 points each. I should be able to use Genjutsu then, and since I would very much like the bonus of the (All Rounder II) title, I would be placing a little focus on raising those stats instead.
Anyway, besides that, I didn’t have any more problems. I could get a job, which is like a lifestyle class, however once again Arashi asked me to hold off on that and just focus on growing stronger and increasing the prestige of the Kiryū clan. So I couldn’t really purchase a job from the tree, or even go find a teacher to get a quest from. Now though I had to buy myself an armor to use, and luckily for me, the tree had something.
{Basic Kiryū Battle Beast Armor: Grade C: Requirement: Level 10, strength 15, Spirit 15: + 8 to strength. +10 to physique/ Defense raised by 10%}
{Basic Kiryū Battle Beast Boots: Grade C: Requirements: Level 10, strength 10, Agility 20: + 10 to agility, +5 to spirit, mind and strength/ Speed raised by 10%}
{Basic Kiryū Battle Beast Mask: Grade C: Requirements: Level 10, Mind 15: +10 to mind and spirit. +15% defense against Genjutsu, +5% to attack}
{Basic Kiryū Battle Beast Gloves: Grade C: Requirement: Level 10: +10 to strength and Agility, +10% to attacks and 10% to defense}
[Set Bonus activated! Defense, Attack and Speed increased by 30%]
It wasn’t really a super powered armor, but the bonuses it gave at level 10 was quite good. I know I would be using it for a while, at least until I get a better option than this. The next thing I bought was a Katana, two this time as I feel it would be better to pattern my attack style after speed and a flurry of attacks. Head on collisions of strength was something I like, but it was a flaw, I needed to be in control of my area of battle and my opponent's.
{Basic Twin Demon Jury Katanas: Grade C: Requirements: Level 10, strength 10, Agility 11, Mind 12, Spirit 13/ +15% to attack and attack speed. +10% armor piercing, +5% chance to cause bleed and confusion status effects.: Swords forged from the bones of violent demonic monsters. Sometimes you can still hear them wail.)
With that out of the way, I made my way towards the entrance of the clan grounds. By the time I got to the gates, a simple wooden door with the Kiryū symbol on it, Arashi was already waiting there with a letter in his hand.
“Young master this is the recommendation letter that will get you into the ninja academy, before being placed in a team. You’re a Grey Ninja, and will have to complete a variety of different ranked missions for the village to raise your rank. If you can raise your ranks fast enough within the next month, then you would be eligible to participate in the upcoming Orange Ninja exams. Also the more mission you complete for the village, the more prestige and resources you bring to the clan.
Also you have to try to actively recruit talents into the clan, we’re quite short on clan members, some of them have left, others have consolidated themselves with the elders and live closer to the village than the main clan, it’s their way of saying they had nothing to do with the Kiryū attack years ago, and it was all the fault of lady Kemisola and the Clan head.
You can’t recruit from other clans, so your recruits have to be unaffiliated ninjas. Loyalty to the Shōkan Toshi is a must though, so do be careful. However loyalty to the clan also takes precedence. Keep an eye out for members of our clan that have left, you can try to convince them to come home and join us. An apartment would be ready for you by the time you get back, good luck young master.
{System Alert: You have received a Clan Quest (Grow Stronger I): Complete missions for the village and your clan and reach Orange Ninja level before one month runs out./Duration: 1 month/ Rewards: Unknown}
{System Alert: You have received a Clan Quest (Brotherhood For The Clan I): recruit 5 people to join your clan or convince 5 old members to come back home./ Duration: Indefinite/ Rewards: +50 clan contribution points, +2 to all stats, +5k exp}
I guess I have a lot of things to take care of, but it wasn’t that bad. At least I had a target that I had to reach in my journey to strength, and it should help keep me focused on what’s important. I gave Arashi a firm handshake and left through the gate.
{You have left your clan grounds! PvP protection has been nullified. You can now be attacked, injured, robbed, raped and killed. Return back to clan grounds to reactivate PvP protection.}
Well I guess this world was nothing to sneeze about. I shook my shoulders took a deep breath and walked down the hill in front of me, heading straight for the city in the distance. Shokan Toshi……..here I come. So whatever it is you have in store for me, bring it on!
