Aria
Loud cheering on both teams can be heard inside the gymnasium. Especially the cheering of my schoolmates for our school team and also, they were cheering for them because most our varsity are incredibly good-looking boys.
I sat in silence beside Yna. Not minding the crowd cheering for our team. I’m not in the mood to shout and cheer.
I always bow down or look away every time the ball is in Damien’s. I just want him out of my mind. I’m still mad for myself for believing that he will do something today.
‘But he texted me that he will prove himself’. I whispered to myself.
I’m planning to leave the gymnasium after the 2nd quarter ends. It will be ended after a minute.
When the 1st half end I look at Yna. To tell her I’m leaving.
“Hey! I think I’m going to go.” I said.
Yna raise an eyebrow to me. “What? No! Your staying. Were going to finish the game aria.”
I pout. I know she will be mad if I still push it. I just look at the court again.
I saw each team are sitting in their respective designated place.
But I noticed that Damien didn’t go back with his team and walking towards the middle of the court with a microphone in his hand. He looks around the audience. I gasped in air when our eyes met and a smile creeps in his lips.
What is he going to do? Is he going to announce something?
“Uhm. Mic test, mic test.” then he looks at the audience. “Good afternoon to all of you who were here. I know you’re here to support your own school team but I will use this opportunity. I’m really sorry for taking a few minutes for your time but I really want to prove myself to someone who’s really important to me. This is my way to prove to her that I’m serious when I told her that I love her.”
"Ohhhhh my gosh!"
"Love me, Damien!"
"I wish it was me?"
"Damien, I love you too"
"Oh s**t! I’m so jealous"
That’s were other girls screaming when they heard what Damien said.
I’m biting my lip. My heart start to beat insanely fast because of too much excitement.
“Aria, he’s looking at here.” I can hear Yna’s teasing me.
I’m trying to calm myself but I failed when Damien spoke again.
“Arianna Mae Mendez, this song is for you.” He announces and a lot of students went their eyes on me.
The crowd went silent for a moment when the music starts playing.

I can’t take off of my eyes at Damien while he’s singing it feels like I mesmerize by his voice. I’m trying to stop my smile but I failed. I can’t hide what I’m feeling right now. I can’t believe, this is too much for me. Yna is shaking my arm as she giggled. All of the girls and gays can’t stop giggling and shouting because of Damien’s singing while his teammates dancing.

I notice Nathaniel is walking towards my direction and then he stops one arm apart from me, he handed me a single stem of rose and went back to the middle and their other teammates did the same as him.

We stared at each other as he ended the song. Clapping and screaming can hear around the gymnasium. I also my cousin, Kuya gio who’s smiling and clapping while looking at me. I thought he would be mad about this but I can’t disapproval in his face.
I turned back my attention to Damien when I heard him cleared his throat.
"Aria, I want you to know that I love you. I’m willing to do anything to have you. I know you have doubts because of my past, that I am Casanova or a playboy but I know I can change for you. I can turn my back on all of that for you. I started to fall for you after I bump into you. Please give this ex-playboy a chance to love you. Please allow me to court you? Please Aria, please say yes!"
"Say yes!" someone shouted from the audience.
"It will definitely yes."
"Oh, my gosh! Hopefully all!"
I can’t speak that’s why I nodded.
Damien mouth fell open for a second. "Is that a yes?" He asks.
I smiled. "Yes!"
He shouted and pull me into a hug. The crowd starts to scream again.
"Thank you for giving me a chance Aria." he whispered
I nod while my head leaning in his chest.
This is so good, I’m so happy. I have never been happy like this before. Maybe this is my mom said about the happiness brought by love. It’s like knocking you off of your feet.
