Mac – POV
Tonight, it’s do or die. My heart pounds with the anticipation of what lies ahead—killing Alpha Kevin, the cruelest Alpha I’ve ever known. A manipulative monster who’s tormented his own people. But what more could I expect from the man who murdered my parents?
I discovered the truth just a day ago, buried deep within the hidden library of the pack. It was with the help of a spy that I unearthed the origins that had haunted me for years. Alpha Kevin had drugged and murdered my parents—the rightful Alpha and Luna—in their sleep. And it was only through the bravery of an Omega, who fought to save me that night, that I survived. I’d always wondered how I ended up with the Silver Canines pack, but now I knew the truth: the Night Pack belonged to me. I won’t let Kevin destroy it any longer.
The night is dark and eerily silent as I prepare for the mission. Last time i was wuth Drake and Yuri to break the hybrids and mixed-blood dragons out before Kevin turns them into weapons. The power within the pack has weakened, and the guards seem distracted. I move through the shadows, my energy masked, cloaked in black. The guards are half-asleep. Sneaking in? Too easy. But killing Kevin won’t be.
I stop and take a deep breath, staring at the silver blade in my hand. This won’t be simple, but it’s necessary. I step onto the windowsill and peer inside. Alpha Kevin sleeps soundly. I slip into the room, silently, but as I approach, his eyes snap open. He stops my strike with ease, flinging me into the wall with a force that knocks the wind out of me. I hit the ground, groaning, but I’m back on my feet in an instant. I charge again, but he swats me away effortlessly.
His power feels... wrong. Foreign. Then I realize—Kevin has taken something. A serum to make himself stronger.
“Took you long enough, little Alpha,” he sneers, his voice dripping with malice. “Did you really think you could just waltz in here and take me down?”
He moves faster than I anticipated, slamming his fist into my ribs, again and again. His hand wraps around my throat, lifting me into the air as I struggle for breath.
“I knew you’d come for me,” he chuckles darkly. “Thought you’d make this a cakewalk, huh?”
With a desperate kick, I manage to break free, gasping for air. “You bastard! You should have died long ago!” I hiss, my voice shaking with rage. “You killed my family!”
Kevin smirks as he dodges my next attack. “I should’ve killed that b***h, Maya, when I had the chance. She’s the one who got you away, isn’t she? Your dear adoptive Omega mother.”
The mention of Maya—my adoptive mother—ignites a fury in me. So she was the one who saved me. The one Kevin tried to kill.
“But I’ve been waiting,” he continues, his grin widening. “Waiting to grow strong enough to kill every last threat that stands in my way. So that my son can inherit this pack.”
Son? He has a son? My mind races as Kevin launches at me, his movements impossibly fast. His hands glow with dragon fire—a dark, twisted magic I’ve only heard of. I barely manage to dodge his attacks, but one blast hits me square in the chest, sending waves of searing pain through my body. I fall to my knees, gasping as he grabs me by the throat once again.
“You see, I went through hell to become what I am now,” Kevin hisses, his grip tightening. “And I’ll go through whatever it takes to wipe out every last obstacle in my path. You thought you could kill me? Pathetic. You’re just a stepping stone for my future—my son will rule this pack, not you.”
His power is overwhelming, his strength unmatched. But as I look into his eyes, I know this isn’t over—not yet.
