I hung up and went back to the inbox on my f*******: profile. Just as I reached the last sentence my phone started ringing, with an unknown number. Cautiously I answered. 'Hello.'
'I hope you are getting ready?' a voice I have never heard before asked.
I took a deep breath and said, 'You are not Mas. I would remember his voice from anywhere. I am not getting ready until you tell me a name and where we met. '
'Come to the party and you might just get what you want.'
I tried a different approach, 'how do I know that you are not some kind of psycho who will have me and my friends butchered and fed to your pet alligator or something?'
'Such imagination. For one, I will have to own a pet alligator to start with. A dress will be arriving for you in a few minutes, put it on.'
'Do you know how creepy all this is?' I asked.
'And make sure you are ready by seven.' He continued as though I did not speak. Without waiting for any reply from me, he hung up.
'Oh, the balls on this man!' I gritted my teeth. Turning to the intercom as it rang. 'Yes?'
'A package for Kimberly Hall?'
I rested my forehead on the wall close to the intercom. How the heck did he even know where I stayed? Taking a deep breath I replied, 'ok, I am coming.'
After fetching the package from the delivery boy and walking back to my apartment, I set it down on our new coffee table. Debating with myself whether I should open it or not. Curiosity got the best of me, and in a few seconds I had it open, my mouth agape at the dress I found there. Removing it from the wraps I placed it against my body it was simple, yet elegant. Not too tight but it flowed, just the way I like my dresses. It came just above my knees, the back crisscrossed like a corset.
'This is getting creepier by the second!' I mumbled to myself as I walked to my room. Gently placing the dress on the bed, I walked to my bathroom. If I am to be ready in two hours, I had to start immediately to get ready as my hair needed some taming as well as some personal grooming to the other sensitive parts of my body. If I were to rub shoulders with the rich and famous, I had to look my best, right?
At exactly seven o'clock, my intercom rang again. Walking to it slowly I pressed the green button. 'Yes?'
'A car for Miss Kimberly Hall.'
'Ok, I will be right down.' I walked to my shoes, slipping my feet into the red heels I had bought on a whim a few months ago. Checking myself in the lounge mirror, I gently teased my hair, smacked my lips before collecting my red clutch bag and walking out of the room.
The drive to the airport was not long, neither did the drive to the private hangar on the far side of the airport. Looking outside, I saw my friends standing around, waiting for me probably. As the car pulled to a stop, another man from the other side opened my door and offered me his hand to help me get out.
'Oh my gosh!' I heard Kate exclaim as I got out and walked towards them. 'You look smashing!'
I laughed as I did a little twirl, 'thank you.' I turned to the guys, 'please tell me one of you is packing! If things go south we can just shoot our way out!'
Sam rolled his eyes on me, 'dramatic, I tell you.' He said as he walked towards the plane that had its door open. 'You will find me in here, sipping on some bubbly as I wait for your crazy asses to get in so we can get this party started.' He said as he made his way up the stairs.
I turned to Tyrell and Terence. 'Hi, Terence. Been a minute.'
He reached over and placed a kiss on my cheek, 'work got me busy these days. So, Tyrell says these are your friends.'
I smiled and turned to Tyrell, 'well, you know. A customer was happy with the services I gave them at the restaurant so they decided to invite us to this opening as a gesture,' I started for the plane, knowing that once Terence started asking questions we wouldn't be going anywhere. 'Coming, guys?'
It was first-class treatment all the way. From the captain welcoming us into the private jet to the Air Hostess offering us Champagne, everything that we never experienced firsthand. If that was not enough, we had a limousine waiting for us when we landed, whisking us away to the event.
When we finally reached our destination, we were all excited. My fears and mistrust for a few hours were locked behind a wall in my head.
'Well, are you all ready?' I turned to my friends. When they nodded, I led the way, stopping at the door.
'Invite?' asked a stuffy-looking man who did not even lookup.
I shook my head at him, 'it was sent through f*******:. Should I show you?'
That made him look up, his eyes hard. 'Is this a joke? Do I look like I am joking to you? Invite or you are not going in.'
I narrowed my eyes on him. 'Listen here buddy. I would not have flown for forty minutes, have a limo drive for another twenty to come and joke with you. I was given an invite to be here and now I am here with my friends. If you have an issue with that take it up with your boss.'
He gave me a nasty smile, 'nice try. But you are not going in. Now either you get lost by yourselves or I will have security throw you out.'
I was about to retaliate when I saw someone coming forward. A smile broke on my face, 'I suggest you start apologizing now before you lose your job.'
'And who is going to make me do that?' he looked me up and down as though I was dirt under his shoe. 'You?'
'Miss Kim,' Mas greeted me with a small bow to his head. 'Glad you could make it. I was told to greet you personally and make sure you and your friends have the grandest of times. I take it your plane ride went smoothly?'
'It did. Thank you, Mas,' I gave him my full smile, smirking when I turned to the man who was now looking as red as a tomato. 'Although, I would have loved it better if you were the one to greet us by the door.'
'Oh?' Mas frowned as he looked to the man who was now pleading with me with his eyes. 'Is everything alright, Greg?'
I walked past Greg and hooked my arm to Mas, turning him around so that we could walk in together. 'Everything is fine, just a familiar face would have helped solve this riddle. You have to tell me who this boss of yours is and why is he splashing money on me and my friends,' I lowered my voice as I said the last sentence. I turned back, watching as my friends gave Greg their dark looks.
'You are lucky it was Kim you were talking to,' Kate mumbled loud enough for me to hear as she passed Greg, who could not even raise his head to look at them.
'Are you sure there was no problem by the door?' Mas asked again, frowning at me. He had heard what Kate had said.
I shook my head, pulling him further. 'No, not really. So are you going to tell me who this boss of yours is?'
Mas gave me a brief smile, 'I have more than one. Which one are you asking about?'
'How about the one who gave a Platinum membership card when I did not even spend a dime in the club? Or maybe the one who sent his private jet to collect me and my friends to bring me to an exclusive opening of another club that I didn't even know about?”
Mas shook his head as he stopped and turned to incorporate my friends. 'That is something you should wait for them to tell you. In the meantime, your cubicle is right up these steps. As before, everything is on the house.'
'That's what I am talking about,' Sam exclaimed as he made his way up, followed closely by Fred, Tyrell, and Terence.
I crossed my arms, 'why do I get the feeling that this boss of yours doesn't want us to mingle?' I turned around watching as a few people made it to an illuminated dance floor. 'Are we allowed to come down here and dance?'
'You are free to do whatever you please,' Mas gave another small bow. 'Now you must excuse me, I have to get back to work.'
'Oh, alright,' I said, moving to let him pass.
'Well?' Kate asked as she watched Mas walk away. 'Did you find out anything about the person doing this?'
I shook my head and shrugged. 'Nope. Do you want to go up there or show these stiffies how dancing is really done?'
Kate smiled as she called for her boyfriend, 'Fred, honey!'
Fred came down, 'what? Nothing is ever good when you call me honey.'
'Here,' she said as she handed him her clutch bag. Taking mine, she did the same, 'we are heading for the dance floor for a few moves.'
I smiled as I led the way to the floor, moving in until we were right in the middle of the floor before we started dancing
Now, I don't mean to brag, but I am a great dancer. I let the music flow into me, move me rather than just swaying and waving my hands around. Kate was also a great dancer, as I watched she found a dance partner.
'Want to dance?' A tall, dark-haired guy asked me.
I shrugged, 'why not?' I replied above the music.
For a few minutes we were dancing ok, then he started getting all touchy, something I was not comfortable with a person who I did not know. He placed his hands on my hips, pulling me to get closer to his body.
I placed my hands on his arm, trying to get his hands away from me.
'What, baby?' he asked his breath on my neck. 'You want to get out of here? Find somewhere so we can get to know each other better?'
'What?' I pushed on his arms harder, breaking away from his hold. 'Are you kidding me right now? I was just dancing with you, you i***t!' I shouted at him.
His eyes darkened with anger as he took a hold of my arm and pulled me close, 'listen to me you little tease, don't play games with people!'
I looked at him, shocked. Looking into his face I could see his eyes were clouded. He was high. Sighing, I tried to pull my arm away, only to have him pull me closer.
Before I knew what was happening, my hand was released and the guy was being led to the front entrance by a bouncer.
'Are you alright, Miss Kim?' Mas asked, his frown on the arm I was unconsciously rubbing.
'I-uhm-I'm ok. Thank you for coming to my rescue,' I smiled at him a bit. 'I think I will just stick to the VIP section,' I stated as I looked around. People had stopped dancing and they were looking at me as though I was there to ruin their day.
'Come on, girl,' Sam said as he pushed his way through the throng of people. I didn't even know that he had made it downstairs.
Taking his hand, I gave him a small smile and let him lead me up, a few more bouncers pushing people aside so that we would not be touched. I could hear the murmurs, making me duck my head even lower.
'Who is she?'
'Must be someone important to have all those bouncers holding people off.'
'Maybe she is the owner's girlfriend or something. She knows the head of security by name!'
And it went on and on until I reached our cubicle.
'You ok?' Tyrell was beside me in a heartbeat when I flopped on one of the seats in the VIP section. 'We saw what was happening from here, so Sam decided to come for you, but I guess the security team was faster compared to the fact that they were on the other side of the room.'
I looked up at Sam, reaching for him with my hand, 'thanks for coming after me.' I kissed the back of his hand.
'Anytime, hun,' Sam smiled as his other hand went to my hair, pushing it away from my face gently.
'That asshole!' Kate exclaimed as she too came into the room. 'Are you ok?'
'I am good. Now let's start the party in here!' I said, trying to get the party mood back.
Unknown 2 POV
I watched her as she got on the dance floor, her movements were slow but sensual. She was not trying very hard to dance, she was flowing with the music. I smiled a little as I watched the way she moved away from the more frantic dancers, a smile on her face as she enjoyed herself.
I watched as a man-made his way towards her, his target intent. A frown marring my face. I did not like the way the man was dancing with her. Even though I could depict the agreement of dancing with him, I could see her discomfort when the man placed his hands on her hips.
From my view, I could see the altercation. Searching the screens for Mas, I noticed that he was on the other side of the club.
'Mas, dance floor now!' I barked an order, watching as Mas turned and headed to the dance floor without any question.
I stuffed my hands into my pockets, holding myself so that I would not go after her. As Mas and the bouncers stopped the pending confrontation, my eyes narrowed on the guy who took Kim's hand, leading her to their VIP room.
Was he going to be a problem? I thought to myself as I followed their progress. A small measure of relief ran through my body as I watched the interaction between them, making it obvious there was nothing s****l between them.
I took my phone out and speed-dialed two. 'Everything is going well. She showed up.'
'Good. Make sure she gets back in good time. We do not want her to miss work tomorrow.'
'Of course,' I said as I disconnected, my eyes going back to the one woman who has captured my interest.
