I walked up to that sss boss of mine.
" He never wanted me, never. Not even we were at school, not now. It is you he desires, you he loves with all his heart.

I am leaving now, I see I have no choice here. Too bad. I thought I was good for the company.
I would ask you to name Emmery as my successor, if you haven't already.

They both gasped, hearing my words. Lana smiled at me.
" I provided you a very nice severance package and will be happy to provide you a reference, good luck Miss Brennan. Good riddance. Don't think I didn't find out about your little sleep over." She sneered.
Linda looked at Lana with her eyes wide open. She quickly looked away, knowing she had been played by the sss as well.
I went down to clear out my desk.
Emmery wouldn't look at me now.
" I asked them to give you my position, I hope you are happy."
I wanted to yell, to cuss at her betrayal. Instead I rose higher, higher than them all.
" Em, do not think this changes how I have adored you. I do still adore you Emmery. This is life. I get it."
She got up and ran out, crying now.
I only took my personal things, my purse and phone. Everything else I left.
I placed my key on Emmery's desk and walked out.
It was miles from my home, but I chose to walk.
I took the side streets, walking through the housing communities, looking at families with small children and cute dogs. I thought about my life.
I suddenly stopped and turned to go down town. I walked into his apartment building and scribbled a note for Charles, sliding it under his doorway.
"I think I messed things up a bit, I am still stuck on you...I am sorry for my part.
I hope you and Lana are very happy. I will stay far away, I resigned today in an effort to move forward.
Goodbye, Jo."
I called a cab to take me home.
Daddy met me at the the pool house, he was lying on a deck lounger.
" So, about my drinking." He smiled.
I put my whole f****d up day aside for him.
" I am going to meetings, and I need to make ammends for being an alcoholic. I apologize for letting you down as your father." He choked up, crying.
" No daddy, you never let me down. You were always the best daddy." I sat on the floor below his chair and held his hand.
" Squirt, when you told me you were pregnant, I never asked you about the baby after that.
What happened, did you end the pregnancy, I should have been more supportive. I'm sorry."
" No daddy, I miscarried. I lost the baby. It wasn't meant to be. Charles didn't want a baby anyway, I'm sure." I added.
Daddy sat forward. "What the f**k? Charles Hudson got you pregnant, that asshole! I'm going to kill him!"
I swallowed my tears. "I never told anyone that dad, I'm sorry I told you now. Charles and I had one night together in college.
We were at a party. He was kind to me, I needed to be loved. Nothing more, he didn't even remember it.
I tried to tell him about the baby, but he acted clueless. He didn't do it on purpose, I'm sure."
" Ah squirt, we all let you down, didn't we?" He hugged me then.
" Naw, I'm not living in the past.....in the past....the past...my past."

I didn't understand his words, my head hurt and my lower belly was cramping up.
" My monthly time, that's why...the blood." I whispered.
He washed me then, between my legs and placed a hand towel in my underwear, but leaving me naked otherwise. I was still chained to his bed.
I wasn't able to understand how I came to be in this bed, then remembered he bought me at that auction. I belonged to this man named Manuel now.
"I need the shot, the drugs please. I don't feel well. Can you give me something, please?"I licked my dry lips.
Manuel shook his head.
"No more heroin for you baby girl. I want you clean for me."
I began to struggle then, pulling at my bonds, screaming at him, fighting and kicking.
He held my hair and pulled my neck back, making me look at him. "We are going to be together forever. Don't fight this. I will give you something to take the edge off, but be quiet, please Phina."
He placed two pills into my mouth and a drink of water.
"Can we negotiate my bonds, I am in so much pain in my arms and shoulders.
Can you let me loose and reposition me. I'm irritable from my period and being raped by animals that call themselves men. They are not men, men treat women with love and kindness."
"If you keep talking, I will gag you. If you fight me, I will hurt you." He was inches from my face.
I spit at him then.
" I hate you, you monster!"
He responded by grabbing my neck and squeezing me.
My eyes bulged, I kicked my legs panicking as I couldn't breath. My eyes began to close, everything grew black.
He suddenly realized what he was doing to me and released me.
" Phina, stop! You are making me angry. I'm losing control. I don't want to kill you."
He held all of the power. I slumped down, turning my head away.
" I'm sorry...I've never been tortured before, I don't know the...the proper etiquette for this sort of inhumanity against women." I said in a whisper, my voice was strained.
My eyes fluttered, then closed as the pills kicked in, I fell into a deep sleep then. Back to my dreams...

We were packed and ready for Texas. Daddy had set everything up for our cruise.
I had no job, nothing stopping me, so I decided I would enjoy the hell out of this.
We flew to Galvaston to get on our cruise ship for Costa Maya. When we landed, the airline lost daddy's bag. His medicine.
" You go on ahead Squirt, mommy and I need to go to the pharmacy real quick for my medicine, we will meet you at the sea port."
I took a cab to the large ship. They were starting to board already.
I got on and went to my muster team member as instructed to take the muster training required before we embarked, I was shown how to use a life vest and other emergency requirements.
I waited around for my parents, but did not see them board. The big horn sounded, signaling final departure.
My phone rang.
" We are coming. Tell them to hold the ship please, we are two blocks away."
I ran to one of the ships stewards, they explained that once the doors were shut, they did not reopen.
I looked down, seeing my mother and father drive up. It was too late, the doors were closed.
" Sorry honey. We tried. The traffic was horrible. Sorry, maybe we can fly to Mexico and meet you there?" Mother offered.
I agreed. " Ok, see you in Costa Maya then." I felt sad about this.
I made my way back to my upper level cabin.
I had a nice view at least.
My head was feeling quite sore.
I had to go lay down for a while.
When I got up, I followed my nose to the dining hall.
I walked down a beautiful staircase to a huge dining area.
I gravitated towards the vegan sushi station.
Choosing some nice vegan options, I sat down and closed my eyes. Delicious.
The man at the sushi station looked at me and smiled.
" You are not a fish lover then?" He asked me. I shook my head, no.
He was very cute. He had dimples when he smiled and a cleft in his chin.
I saw his chef's jacket stating Chef de cuisine.
I was interested in seeing more, learning about this food.
" You want to see the kitchen then?" He asked me pointing his sharp knife my way.
" I would love to." I grinned.
" Chef Daniel Jackson." He shook my hand.
" Josephine Brennan." I followed him to the big kitchen. He handed me a hair net and a white chef's jacket.
I stayed by his side for over 4 hours. It was amazing.
I had always been interested in this stuff.
The expertise with how he cut the fish, made each sushi roll so quickly, perfectly.
"You ready to try it Jo?"
I nodded.
