CHAPTER 9 – SAVE HER

WYATTS POV

She left, I can’t believe this, had I ever had a girl walk out on me before, no! The answer was no, and this was my mate. How could she leave me like this? My c*ck was rock hard and throbbing in my pants, I heard her car start up and I groaned.

I ran my fingers through my hair as I tried to calm down, once I was half soft and no longer showing through my jeans, I walked outside to find Beau, who I found leaning against his car.

‘You realize I’m going to kill you, right’ I growled as I slammed my door and walked over to him.

‘Hey now’ He quickly rushed to the other side of the car, a smirk on his stupid f*cking face ‘It’s not my fault, I didn’t think you’d be molesting my future Luna on the damn couch for anyone to see’

‘IT’S MY HOUSE!’ I shouted, my eyes darkening ‘No one was meant to see. Why didn’t you knock!’

‘I did’ He smirked again ‘I guess you didn’t hear me, occupied as you were’

‘Thin ice Beau’ I said in warning as Kai growled inside of me.

‘Look’ He said in surrender, though the smile still plastered on his face wasn't helping me not want to kill him ‘I really am sorry, If I’d known you were doing anything, I wouldn’t have come in, but on the upside, you two looked like you were getting along, that’s progress’

‘You’ A loud explosion sounded down the road. My heart retched ‘Which road did Kat drive down?’

‘That one’ Beau pointed towards the sound of the explosion with wide panicked eyes.

‘GET IN THE CAR!’ I nearly ripped open his driver’s side door before jumping in. Once I was driving, Remi’s terrified voice filled my mind.

‘MATE!’ She called out to me, my heart raced, and I sped up ‘HELP!’

‘REMI!?’ I shouted, and then I heard Katomi scream ‘KAT!?’

‘SHE’S HURT!’ I sped up again as the link cut off, it was only seconds before I saw her car on fire on the side of the road, did she crash? Why didn’t I stop her from leaving, I slammed on the breaks and flew out of the car.

‘KATOMI, REMI!’ I cried out, I ran to the driver’s side and found her unconscious on the ground with cuts all over her body, but she was healing.

I couldn’t breathe ‘KAT!’ I cried out again as I pulled her up into my arms ‘YOU DRIVE!’ I ordered to Beau as I pulled Katomi into the back seat with me.

Beau moved faster than I’d ever seen him move and within seconds we were speeding towards the hospital.

‘Hold on baby’ I told her as I pressed my face into her neck, I couldn’t lose her, not now, not after I’d finally told her the truth ‘We’re nearly there, just hold on’ I looked up at Beau who was concentrating on the road with an intensity I’d only ever seen while he was fighting the Fae ‘What the f*ck happened, where the h*ll was her guard!’

I’d assigned a few guards to her Friday night when I’d finally announced she was my Luna, I knew she’d be a target now for an attack from my enemies, it’s the reason I’d kept our connection secret. I should have waited one more year!

‘He’s running behind us’ Beau answered ‘I linked him, he said Kat was pulled over on the side of the road, he said she was’ Beau looked at me in the review mirror, looking nervous.

‘WHAT!’

‘She was crying’ I looked down at my girl, I’d hurt her again, I’d made her cry again, I’d pushed her, she wasn’t ready for s*x, my words came back to me, ‘‘It’s your first time, I’m a f*cking i***t, I’ll take you to the bedroom’’,

I’d said it like f*cking her was no big deal, like it wouldn’t have been the best moment of my life, I’d hate myself for this one too, why did I keep messing this up? She was already worried about it not being special because I’d been with other women.

‘Nick said, he turned away for a second to give her some privacy, but she screamed’ Beau continued, unaware of my own personal hell going on inside my mind, Kai was frantic, he was whimpering and calling out Remi’s and Kat’s names through the link, but there was no reply ‘And there was some kind of explosion, the impact of it hit him and knocked him out, he only started coming around when he heard you calling to Kat’

‘What?’ I looked down at Kat with wide eyes, Beau began blowing his horn at a slow car in front of us and when they realized it was Beau driving, they quickly moved over to let us pass ‘Do you think someone put something in her car, a bomb?’

‘We’ll need to wait for the investigation to know for sure’ He said ‘The car's on fire, I linked the fire brigade to put it out, but I don’t know if we’ll find anything’

‘Sounds like Fae magic’ I growled, Kat groaned in pain but stayed asleep ‘My darling, it’s ok, just hang in there, I’m here, I’ve got you, I want the pack searched. If I find a Fae on my land, I’ll rip its throat out’

‘The Fae from the border, the one Brae captured’ Beau said quickly ‘Do you remember what it said, some Lord is looking for its mate. Maybe it really is here in our territory, it could have found out last night that Kat was your mate and wanted revenge’

‘I want it found!’ Kai linked us

‘I’ve had the territory searched already’ I responded ‘They found nothing’

‘SO SEARCH AGAIN!’ Kai shouted in his Alpha tone before he linked all our patrol guards ‘I WANT THE TERRITORY SEARCHED FOR FAE, IF YOU FIND ANY, BRING THEM TO ME!’

He cut the link and returned to focusing on our mate again.

‘Daddy’ Kat moaned with her eyes still closed.

‘I’ll link Will’ Beau said quickly ‘And get him to meet us at the hospital’

‘Thanks’ I said and looked down at Kat, I tried not to hold her to tightly, there was still glass sticking out of her skin.

‘Mommy’ She moaned in pain and tears fell down her face ‘Please don’t leave me alone’

‘Shh baby’ I hushed her and pressed my face against her neck, breathing in her scent and listening to her heartbeat. It was weak ‘It’s me, it’s Wyatt’

‘Mommy’ She sounded like a little girl, it broke my heart ‘Don’t die, don’t leave me alone, no uncle Brice, I don’t want to go, I want to stay with mommy’

‘Is she having a nightmare?’ Beau asked me as he looked back at us in the review mirror again.

‘Must be’ I said, I lifted my head again ‘Do you know how her mother died?’

‘Some Fae killed her, right?’

‘I think so’ I gently ran my fingers down Kat’s bleeding face ‘William failed to mention that Kat saw it happen though’

‘Maybe’ Beau sounded concerned ‘Or maybe it’s just a random nightmare’

‘It doesn’t sound random’ I kissed her forehead, but the taste of metal filled my lips and burnt me, so I pulled back ‘SH*T!’

‘What’s wrong?’

‘She’s got silver in her blood’ I explained, and wiped the blood from my lips. Silver couldn’t kill me like it could other Lycan’s, but it still burnt.

‘How did she get silver in her blood?’ Beau asked in fear ‘The bomb?’

‘No’ I shook my head ‘It’s from when she was stabbed as a child, it’s still in her system’

'How is that even possible?' Beau asked, frowning at me through the mirror 'Did a piece of the blade snap off into her body or something, why can't it be taken out?'

'I'm not sure of the details yet' I answered as I stared down at my girl 'She only just told me this morning, she said because of it, she can't fall pregnant'

'What?' Beau's eyes widened 'But, what about an heir, the royal line can only continue through you, if you don't have an heir, the power of Lycan's everywhere will weaken, we’ll die out'

'F*ck the heir!' I growled at him 'Don't mention this to her, she already feels guilty enough for not giving me children, it’s why she wants me to reject her. Don't ever let her know about the importance of a royal heir'

'How are you going to hide this from her? He asked me 'She's smart, Wyatt, she'll find out somehow'

'Not if I remove every text or book that mentions a royal heir' I snapped at him 'This isn't important right now, she could f*cking die!'

'She'll be alright, Wyatt' Beau assured me 'We're nearly there'

Beau pulled into the emergency area of the hospital, and I rushed Kat inside. This was my packs hospital, Lycan’s only so I didn’t have to worry about giving commands.

‘GET THE HEALERS!’ I used my alpha tone, and the nurses began rushing around, calling the doctors.

‘KAT!’ Shay called out in fear as she rushed over to us with a bed, Shay was one of our best healers and she loved Kat, I knew she’d do everything in her power to save her.

‘Please put her on the bed, Alpha’

Reluctantly, I placed her down on the bed and Shay and the other nurses rushed her down the hall

‘Alpha what happened?’ Shay asked me ‘Does Will know?’

‘He’s coming’ I answered dismissively ‘We don’t know how it happened. Some kind of bomb went off in her car’

‘A bomb?’ Shay looked down at her stepdaughter ‘But’

‘NEVER MIND THE DETAILS!’ I shouted angrily and everyone jumped as my power seeped out of me ‘JUST SAVE HER!’

‘I want everyone out of the room, you to Alpha’

‘LIKE HELL!’ I growled

Shay looked nervously at Kat ‘Ok, but we need to cut her clothes off and get these wounds cleaned up’

One of the female nurses started cutting Kat’s dress off so I turned around, I knew she’d be embarrassed if this is how I saw her naked for the first time.

It took the nurses and Shay an hour to get her cleaned up. They removed all the glass and Kat began to heal quicker, finally dressing her in an ugly green gown before I turned back around and took a firm hold of her hand, while Shay worked, I told her everything I knew, hoping it would help Shay help her better.

Shay kept a poker face as she worked on her stepdaughter. I suspected it was so she wouldn’t break down, like I felt like doing, but I got the feeling Shay was hiding something from me.

I was cursing myself? Why hadn’t I run after her when she’d rushed out of my house. This only helped my resolve to have Katomi move in with me, I needed her safe.

After another hour of tests, that all came back clear, Kat was wheeled into an empty private room away from other patients, I didn’t want anyone near her, someone could try to hurt her again.

‘KAT!’ William’s voice called out as he rushed into the room ‘Is she alright, Beta Beau wouldn’t let me in!’

‘Good’ Kai growled ‘Mate is ours, he didn’t need to be in the room with her!’

William was covered in sweat and wearing training clothes. He must have been training the warriors when he got the news about Kat.

‘She’ll be fine, Will’ Shay answered. She looked at her husband, linking him privately. William looked down at his daughter, fear on his face.

‘WHAT!’ I shouted, making them jump ‘What’s wrong with her, what are you keeping from me!’

‘Nothing Alpha I swear’ Shay said nervously, showing her neck ‘I was just talking about doing a blood transfusion while she’s here, she um… she has to do it once every five or six weeks, and it always hurts her so I thought we’d do it now’

‘Because of the silver?’ I asked.

Shay and William looked at each other for a second ‘So she told you?’

‘She showed me her medical history’ I sat down on the side of her bed and ran my fingers down her soft face ‘She told me she couldn’t give me children’

‘And what did you say to that?’ William asked angrily ‘Is that why she was crying on the side of the damned road!’

Beau must have filled him in on everything, I growled in warning, he might be her father, but I was still his Alpha, I wouldn’t tolerate his attitude anymore. He quickly lowered his head.

‘I told her I didn’t care’ I answered anyway, I pulled her hand to my lips and kissed it gently ‘She’s mine, whether she can carry my pups or not, I won’t give her up for anything or anyone. In fact, because she is mine, she will be living with me from now on’

‘Absolutely not’ William growled. I looked at him, my eyes darkening.

‘You must be deaf’ I said angrily ‘I said she’s mine, William. She mightn’t be of age yet, but it doesn’t change the fact that she is my mate, I need her safe. Someone tried to kill her today. I need her with me, I’m not asking for your permission, I’m simply informing you of the situation’

‘I’m her father’ William argued with me, Kai was getting riled up inside of me ‘You can’t just take her, she hasn’t even accepted you!’

I growled loudly, I stood up and my eyes darkened.

‘Don’t challenge me William, my mate’s father or not, I won’t hesitate to kill you’ I warned him, and he stepped back ‘I do not care if she’s accepted me yet, I know she will, she was just rejecting me out of some idiotic sense of duty to allow me to find someone who can give me an heir, but I don’t care about that, I want her and no one else, she will be moving in with me as soon as it can be arranged!’

‘With all due respect, Alpha’ Shay touched her husband’s shoulder to calm him down ‘But I really think it’s up to Katomi, not either of you. She’s only just turned 17, I know she’s not ready for that kind of commitment’

I growled again, and she looked down again ‘I will bring this up with her when she wakes up’ I said through my teeth ‘But essentially, no matter what she wants, I will be the one making the final decision, her life is at stake, and she is safer by my side’

‘Like she was today?’ William growled ‘How do we know she wasn’t at risk because you openly told all the packs that she was yours. Every enemy you have could know about her by now. You should have waited until she was at least marked before announcing her so she could have had your strength for protection!

I growled and grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and raised my fist, Shay screamed and right before I punched her father, I heard Katomi moan.

I dropped her father and rushed back over to her, ignoring everyone in the room except for Kat.

‘Baby’ I touched her face as she groaned again, her eyes started to flutter open, and then I heard the most beautiful sound in the world, her voice.

‘Alpha Wyatt?’
