CHAPTER 6

Eleanor POV I was still processing what the hell just happened. How can he end up in my bed? “What are you doing in my house?” He asked, and I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. The door suddenly went open, and then Mr. Castro came in. “What’s with all the commotion this early in the morning?” he said, looking alternately between us. “This man came into my room and slept on my bed!” I said to Mr. Castro. I saw the culprit roll back his eyes at me. Oh please. I was the victim right here! “Why did you sleep in my bed then?” He replied to me, still won’t admit his wrongdoing. He then turned to Mr. Castro. “Dad, what is she doing here anyway?” Dad? Was I hearing that correctly? So he—? “Luci, it was you who slept in the wrong room. Yours is next door.” Mr. Castro stated, and his face blushed. “Damn alcohol—” he murmured while scratching the back of his head. Mr. Castro turned to me. “Eleanor, I haven’t introduced you to my son, Luciano Castro.” He said to me. My eyes widened in shock. Seeing his smirk only made me hate him even more. How could he? “Y-your son?” I said, and he seemed to enjoy seeing me in shock. “Is there any problem, Eleanor?” Mr. Castro asked. “Um… No, of course not.” I denied. “Okay then. I’ll be waiting for you both downstairs to have breakfast together.” Mr. Castro replied, smiling at me, then left us alone inside the room. I saw Luciano shaking his head in amusement as he picked up his shirt from the floor. Now that I finally realized that he was half naked, I felt my face suddenly turn hot. I quickly looked away as he noticed that I was looking at his perfectly sculpted abs. “Do you like what you see?” He asked, teasing me. I didn’t answer him, but I could hear his footsteps coming closer, and they stopped right behind me. “What are you doing here? Hmmm.” he moved my hair from one side, bringing them to the other side. My bare neck was exposed to him. He landed a peck there, making me quiver. “I—” I haven’t finished my word, but he cuts me. “Don’t give me that bullshit about business.” He said. Oh my. This house would slowly turn into another hell for me if he kept on doing this every time we crossed paths with each other. I turned around to face him and took a step back. “It’s up to you whether you choose to believe me or not. Just get out of my room!” I said to him, pointing my index finger towards the door. He let out a small chuckle before he went for the door. “See you at breakfast.” He said, closing the door. ****************** I nervously descended down the stairs. I picked out the most casual summer dress that I could find in my closet with floral prints on it. Later I found out that it was a freaking Dior dress! All of the clothes inside my closet were very formal and dressed-up ones. I felt like royalty. This is way too much just for breakfast, but this is the best option that I could find. I heard the clattering sound of the cutlery against the ceramic plate as I came closer to the dining table, but there was no conversation whatsoever there. I saw Mr. Castro and his wife sitting at the dining table, but they were too far away from each other. Both were busy with their own food. Mr. Castro looked up at me, and then he got up from his chair. “Ahhh… Eleanor. Come here.” “You haven’t met my wife, Alexandra.” Mr. Castro introduced us, and I awkwardly stretched out one of my hands for her to take, but she never accepted them. She only looked at me briefly and then continued with her eating. Mr. Castro noticed the tension between me and his wife. He then guided me to sit on the empty chair beside him. I could feel that his wife was glaring at me. I tried to ignore it anyway. “Good morning, everybody!” Luciano chirped happily, joining us. He took a seat on the opposite side of me. He poured himself a cup of coffee, then sipped them slowly while looking at me from the rim of his cup. “So I heard about what happened last night at the bar.” Mrs. Castro said, and then Luciano choked on the hot coffee. Take that, you pervert! “Nothing happened last night. It was only a misunderstanding, mom.” He said, and then I had to hold back my laughter. I took a slice of fruit in front of me and took a bite. “You should eat more, Eleanor. You’re too skinny.” Mr. Castro said, and then he took one croissant, putting them on my plate. I got a bit uncomfortable with his caring attitude, mostly when we were in front of Mrs. Castro. “Umm... Excuse me. I think I’m full already.” I said to him, then excused myself. ***************** The house was big, but I still felt bored. I am not used to being idle and doing nothing like this. Maybe I should ask Mr. Castro whether I could still work in The W or not. I walked outside, and then I saw the horse stall. Ever since I was little, I’ve been obsessed with horses and unicorns, but Willow always think that it’s a waste of money. I peeked inside the stall and curved a smile. Mr. Castro had around ten horses, but there was one horse that captured my interest. He had this light brown color and a tiny white spot on his forehead. I gently patted his head while feeding him a carrot. “I see you liked him.” I assume he’s the one in charge here. “My name is Lucas. Do you want to try riding him?” he then asked. “Oh, are you sure about that? But I am a newbie.” I said to him. He prepared the saddle for me and took the horse out from the stall. “That’s okay, we can go slowly. I’ll walk with you.” He offered. “Wow. That would be nice. Thank you.” I said in reply. I got so excited when I successfully sat on the saddle. This is the first time I’ve ridden a horse. At first, we were walking slowly at a steady pace. “You’re a natural,” Lucas said, making me blush. “Thanks. I think I could handle it from here.” I said to him. I didn’t want to trouble him when he had a lot of work to do. After arguing for a while, he finally relented and left me to feed the other horses. I keep a slow pace, but then when it gets a bit boring, I want to challenge myself and speed up. I was still high from the adrenaline rush when I suddenly saw Mrs. Castro standing in front of us. The horse started to act weird, and I had to pull the leash to stop the horse, but I ended up falling to the ground. “Arrghhh…” I groaned painfully while holding my right arm. “Ms. Wright!?” I heard Curtis’s voice, and he came to check on my condition. I screamed when he tried to touch my arm. “I think it’s broken.” He said, and then he quickly picked me up with his arms, bringing me back inside the house. Sweat is forming on my forehead. The pain was even more excruciating the moment we entered the house. “What happened?” Luciano was the first one who saw us. “Ms. Wright just fell from horse riding,” Curtis told him shortly. “I’m sorry, Luciano. But I had to take her back to her room and call for a doctor. I think she broke her arm.” He said, but Luciano stopped him. He suddenly took me in his arms and then told Curtis. “Let me take her back. You call for the doctor.” He said sternly.
