CHAPTER 5

1512 Words
Louis POV I am not a kind person. Heck. I don’t even think I still had a tiny bit of kindness left inside me. But it was before I met Eleanor. Seeing her reminds me of my unborn daughter. Me and my wife were supposed to have a daughter before Luciano was born. Maybe that’s why my heart went soft after seeing Eleanor being abused. I am not that close with her stepfather, but even that, I was aware that their relationship was not great. I just got that weird hunch when I overheard them talking on the phone. Then I sent one of my men to follow her every day. He would report to me about her daily activity, and I was very impressed by this woman. Her family is not poor, but she is far from being spoiled. From what I saw, she always pushed herself. She used to come home late from the office. If I was her dad, I wouldn’t allow her to do that. It was too dangerous for a young woman like her to drive alone that late at night. I know that it would be weird if I told Willow Wright that I wanted to take her as my daughter, so I made a deal with him instead. My marriage is also in critical condition now. I couldn’t remember when is the last time we slept on the same bed. And bringing her back to live in my house suddenly seemed like a good plan. Who knows that I could trigger my wife’s jealousy, and she could finally realize that we were still in love with each other. I waited for the perfect timing to bring Eleanor to move into my house, and it seemed like today was the day. I tried my best to hold my anger when I saw her reddened cheek. I pretended that this was the first time I saw her. What upset me was that she looked afraid of me, which is very understandable. By the time she would learn that I meant her no harm. I was a ruthless mafia, and yet I was still far more gentleman to a woman rather than that douchebag named Willow Wright. I know how to treat a woman right, and hitting them is a no-go. She looked so happy when she learned that I owned a horse in my house. I couldn’t quite describe why I am feeling this content, but if buying a horse could make her happy like that, then I wouldn’t mind buying a thousand more horses for her. The first thing that I would do after I got back home was asking for a doctor to check on her. Only God knows, maybe Willow had abused her many times, and she had scars all over her body. I was still talking to her when my phone rang. Curtis told me that Luciano was involved in a fight at our bar. It was so chaotic that we had to close the bar early tonight. Of course, my son wouldn’t stop to torture me. If only he could get himself a wife. Maybe he would stop fooling around with a random woman every night. He was about to turn thirty next month, but he was still acting like a child. I need a heir to run this mafia business. When I got to the bar. I saw a woman with a skimpy skirt pressing a cold ice pack to a man’s face. He was badly beaten. I looked to the other side, and I saw Luciano passed out in the bar. I sighed defeatedly as I took a big step toward the man and woman. “Harry, mind telling me what the hell is going on here?” I asked through gritted teeth. He looked up at me, and then he shook his head innocently. “It’s not my fault, Mr. Castro. Please don’t shoot me. I was just defending this woman from Luciano. Then he suddenly attacks me like an animal.” He said. He was one of my regular customers, and a long time ago, they were once best friends before Luciano started to have his own life exploring many women in his bed. “There’s no way Luciano attacked you without reason,” I said, ashamed of my own son. Then the woman suddenly kneeled in front of me. “I’m sorry, Mr. Castro… I was just trying to seduce Luciano. But it seems like he didn’t like my company.” She admitted. I looked at her, and I was a bit confused. She wasn’t that bad. In fact, her appearance was quite decent. If only she could wear something less revealing. Her outfit screamed of w***e. “What did you just say? He rejected you?” I asked her again, and she nodded at me. “Yes, and he kept on mentioning a woman with brunette hair. The mysterious woman whom he just met.” She told me, looking a bit pissed off. I let out a small chuckle. Maybe he was tired of fooling around. I waited long enough for this day to come. Could it be that he finally got hooked up on one woman? “Excuse me…” I said, walking towards Luciano. “Your lips are so soft—” he murmured incoherently, but I was able to understand it. He was damn drunk, and I assumed he was saying something ridiculous about that woman. I hoped she was not a hooker he casually picked up on the street. As much as I loved the “Pretty Woman” movie, it should only happen in the movie, and not in the Castro family. I would find out about that tomorrow after he was sober. ************** Luciano POV I was pissed. This is the first time for me to feel this way. I was stuck with the thought of her every day and every damn second. I went to the bar to get myself wasted tonight. Maybe if I was drunk, I would stop thinking about her. Her sexy silk dress and her scent had haunted me ever since I met her that night. It was pretty amazing how quick things escalated between us from awkward into a hot make-out session inside that elevator. I was just finished my third glass when a woman suddenly touched my shoulder blades from behind. I turned around and felt pissed off because it wasn’t her. It’s Jenna. This might be the third time she willingly came to me. She was pretty, but I am not interested. “Not tonight, Jessie,” I said to her, then gave her my back again. I purposely used the wrong name to make her mad. “It’s Jenna.” she said, whispering in my ear seductively. I pushed her away from me and then finished another glass. “What part of my word that you didn’t understand?” I hate a dumb woman like her the most. She kept on pestering me, and then I suddenly just lost it. I pushed her a bit hard until she fell back, her butt hitting the floor. Well. That is not my intention. And that is when Harry suddenly came to be a hero. “Hey, you can’t hurt a woman like that just because you own the place.” He said to me. We used to be friends, but I think he was jealous of my popularity with other women, and our relationship went down after that. He was being a jackass, and I landed a punch on his face. We were fighting, but I gave him no chance to attack me. People started to scream, but it went like a blur to me. I was wasted, and my head was spinning. “Hey, Luciano! Wake up!” I heard dad’s angry voice. I groaned before I tried to open my eyes. “That’s enough for today. Let’s go back home.” He said to me. I even need the help of one of our men to walk me into the car. After I got back home, I went to the second floor where my bedroom at. I felt dizzy. The alley was now turned into two. It took all my power to reach the knob to my door and push them open. The room was dark. I took off my shirt and then threw myself on the bed. I breathed out in relief after my body sank into the soft mattress. I went under the blanket, and when I turned to the right side, I thought I saw someone in my bed. Maybe I was too drunk. I moved closer, and I thought I was hallucinating. It was her. The woman who filled my mind. This can’t be true. Damn it, alcohol. You made me think that my bolster was her. I inhaled deeply, and my nose caught her sweet scent. She still smelled the same. My body instantly felt relaxed. I circled my arms around her and then fell asleep.
