“Three”

“Three”   Brandon's taxi stopped in front of Jarupanivh Designs main building. He paid the driver and heaved a long sigh before getting off the vehicle. He stood in front of the building and looked up to the highest floor. 'Ugh. This is it. Home.' He had a mix of light and heavy steps as he approached the entrance. The young Vongvanich heard murmurs soon as he stepped inside after guard on duty opened the glass doors for him. "Hello, Mr. Brandon. Welcome back." He looked at the guard suspiciously. His parents must have briefed the employees about him coming anytime this week. How else would they know who he is? Brandon gave the security guard a nod and headed towards their family private elevator. It only leads to the penthouse. He dismissed another guard when the latter offered to help him with his luggage. When he arrived at the top floor, Bran rang the digital bell. It wasn't even a second when the big door opened and a woman in her early forties smiled warmly and pulled Bran into a hug. She softly sniffled as she tightly held her son in her embrace. "Welcome home, sweetie. The staff downstairs informed me a few seconds ago." Irene had let go of the hug after a few seconds and then cupped her son's face. "You must be hungry. You want some lunch?" Brandon missed his mother so much, he was speechless when he finally got to hug her again. They've only seen each other when his mother would come visit him in Korea once or twice a year. Bran could only nod when his mom asked if he was hungry. Irene and Brandon tried to catch up on things that happened during Bran's stay in Jeju. They were just done with lunch when the twins came home. "Brandy!!!" Brielle and Brianna call their older by that name. He liked it. Bran was toppled into the couch in the living room after his sisters jumped on him for a hug. "We missed you so much!" Brianna said while trying to hold herself from bawling her eyes out. Brielle didn't want to leave her brother's arms as she kept saying how much she missed her older brother. Their little family reunion was filled with tears. It was painful, at the same a happy occasion. Irene and the twins later on let Brandon get some rest. His mom had already prepared his bedroom for when he comes back. It was already dinner time when Benjamin Vongvanich arrived home. Irene has informed her husband in advance about their son's arrival. When Bran came out of his room after taking a shower and changing his clothes, he saw his father sitting in the living. He seemed to be waiting for him. "Hi, dad." Bran greeted his father with indifference. "Sit down, son. Let's talk before dinner." This tone of voice was different from what Bran grew up with. But it became the usual every time his father would make a call to him twice a week while he was in Korea. Brandon sat down on the couch opposite his father. He stared back at his father steadily. He respects him as much as he fears him. But with the anger boiling inside of the young man, it was easier to look back at Ben with little to no emotion. "You grew up well, son. As your father, I am very proud of what you've accomplished outside the country. We have created differences between us as father and son but I could take your anger, Bran. I am not asking you to understand me, at least not now. If I was to choose, you would still be continuing your studies in Korea or somewhere else. ...But it's for your mother, I did this. You're taking over our family business, I needed you to be the man i wanted you to be. Firm. Ambitious. Independent. Strong." Brandon clenched his fists. If he was stupid, he would have missed the mocking tone behind his father's last word. As a kid, he was timid. And most people would consider him...weak. "Strong? Well, I'm sorry I wasn't born an alpha, dad." "It has nothing to do with your gender, Bran. I only wanted you to be an outstanding man. Alpha or not." Brandon snickered. "Can we just get to the point where you give me the plan for the next years of my life. This time will be four years, right?" "Brandon." Irene softly but firmly called her son's attention. "I'm sorry, mom." "If you want to talk about college, I don't have a problem with your choice. It's only an hour from home. You have an option to stay here or get your own apartment over there. Aspen is the best in the country along with Bella Terra University." Brandon's face turned sour hearing the name of the second school. He knows his cousin goes there. Now, he's glad he didn't choose it though he passed the admission exam there as well. It would have been nice because the school is three hours away from Bangkok. And it's also only an hour away from Hua Hin where the nicest beach resorts are located. 'Better than lakes.' "I'll get my own apartment near the school. I'll come home whenever I miss mom and my sisters. But other than that, I'd rather stay there until I finish another set of hellish years." "Brandon." This time Irene sat next to her son and placed a hand on top of his on his lap. "That's settled then. You don't need me to get you a house or a unit in Aspen. I believe you can manage." Ben added. "Isn't that how I was raised? To be on my own feet?" "Very well. Show me and your mother what you can do, son. The same rules apply here. You can do as you please...So long as you--" "Remain at the top ten of the whole year or faculty. ...Don't get called by the school or dean for misconduct. ...Don't be seen in a compromising scene in public. ...Don't end up at a police station. ....Don't get anybody pregnant. ...Don't get pregnant." Bran finished his father's sentence. The strict rules he had been following since he entered middle school. Since he found out... ...he's an omega. __________________________________________________
