Prologue
It was a beautiful Sunday morning. Two boys decided to go for a swim at the manmade lake at the back of a manor located in the suburbs. The cabin built next to the lake serves as a place to rest and wash up when the members of the family go for a swim.
The boys laughed their way to the far back end of the estate. "Kyahahaha! Don't tickle me!" The eight year old Brandon kept shielding himself from his older cousin's attacks.
Finnegan didn't stop until Brandon almost fell completely under the waters. They're both standing at the shallow part, at the edge of the lake. Finn was able to grab the younger boy's hand and pulled him close. "Are you okay, Bran?"
The younger boy shyly nodded. "I'm--I'm okay, P'Finn. Thank you."
"You're welcome." Finn ruffled his cousin's hair before he walked deeper into the waters.
Finnegan and Brandon are excellent swimmers even at a very young age. The lake was made before Finn turned five, so was the cabin. It was his father Ram's gift to his mother, Boon.
The two cousins often come to the lake for a swim on weekends. Brandon's parents let him hang out at the Vongvanich manor knowing their son loves to spend time at the ancestral home. Ram and Boon are also happy that Brandon keeps Finnegan company since their eldest isn't so friendly with others.
"P'Finn, what's a fated pair?" Brandon asked his older cousin after they left the waters and are now sitting on the deck at edge of the lake by a big tree.
Finnegan smiled and wrapped his arm around the cute eight year old's neck. Affectionately. "A fated pair is a combination of two wonderful souls destined to be together. Forever. Just like my father and mother."
"P'Finn, what's an alpha?" Brandon asked another question.
"An alpha is a strong and protective person like my father. Smart. And badass. But dad is gentle too. He loves mom so much."
"Just like my dad...
How about an omega?"
"An omega is known to be the gentlest ones. That's what grandma Vanessa said. But you know, my mom isn't so gentle. He can be tough and strict."
"Uncle Ram is an alpha. And uncle Boon is an omega.
Is a fated pair only between an alpha and omega?"
"Hm? I think so. I don't know a lot of things yet, Bran. But I will. And I promise I'll let you know what I learn in the future."
"P'Finn, do you think you'll have your own fated omega too someday?" Brandon is oddly inquisitive today.
Finnegan smiled broadly. "You think I am an alpha?"
Bran stared at his older cousin. "Well...you are strong, protective of me. You're very smart. And a badass."
Finn chuckled. "If I was an alpha...will you be my omega then?"
Bran slapped his cousin's arm. "There. I'm not gentle. How can I be an omega?"
Finnegan laughed and the wonderful sound echoed back from the cabin. "My mother isn't gentle either, Bran."
"Yeah. And if I am an omega, I want to be like uncle Boon. He's awesome." Bran said with gleaming eyes. He then closed them feeling the warm sun rays kiss his skin.
Finn caught the sight when the younger boy closed his eyes as he basked his cheeks under the sun. He leaned closer to plant a kiss on Brandon's cheek.
It was a stolen kiss.
And afterwards, he ran for it.
"P'Finn? Where....? Hey, please come back here, P'Finn! Where are you? Something landed on my face. P'Finn, help me!" Brandon yelled in panic. He was frantically running in circles on the deck looking for a damp soft thing that dared land on his cheek.
Finnegan ran back while laughing. "Something landed on your cheek? Probably a leaf, Bran." He lied through his teeth.
Bran touched his cheek where Finn stole the kiss from. "Yeah...probably a leaf."
Finnegan had to hold his breath as he felt his heart race. 'This is weird.' The nine year old Finnegan V. Jarupanivh thought to himself.
